  • Watching her dominated in the US OPEN 2008, with attention to her footwork and powerful returns by swinging her racket so fast at every shot...you will have no doubt that she will be future No.1.

    • That's a lot of countires' culture. There is humility outside of Japan...

      @antediluvian9144@antediluvian91446 жыл бұрын
    • antediluvian: the fact that naomi grew up in new york city (i believe she actually grew up on long island outside of the city) would support your statement that humility is not limited to either japan or east asia.

      @paperwait9611@paperwait96116 жыл бұрын
    • East Asian also refers to North Korea and the indepent state of Taiwan, not only China, Japan and South Korea.

    • paper wait- I'm sick of stereotypes, like if the rest of the world were arrogant assholes. I wonder what kind of image they have of us in the Far East; but watching Hollywood movies, no wonder they all think we are big eyed motherfuckers. Anyway that guy excluded North Korea, Mongolia, etc from East Asia... Oh and I know a few chinese guys btw, and they are everything but humble; they think they invented the world or something, when they live in a completely westernized world. Of course they are *humble in general* , particularly in Japan, but there are all kind of people everywhere...

      @antediluvian9144@antediluvian91446 жыл бұрын
    • Henry Gao, I think there was a problem with your Google translation, I never insulted you or your culture. Anyway, here's the east asian humility guys. Again, you excluded North Korea, a military superpower from East Asia, and don't forget: you live in a western world, ok? You are surrounded by western inventions, from the computer you are typing to the light that illuminates your room, don't you ever forget it, son. Your people aren't smarter than my people, even though you have 1500 million people more...

  • Osaka is an excellent all around player, she hits everything perfectly,and cover's the court quite well. I'm glad she's on the pro tour and doing so well.I love seeing her play,she introducing a new force to the spot that's reviving women's tennis.

  • Osaka has now beaten Sharapova, Serena and Vika in a matter of weeks. Yes, none of them are at their prime, but mentality doesn't have a prime. Those 3 women are still the most mentally fit players out there, and a win over them is exceptional.

    @RichTake@RichTake6 жыл бұрын
    • keep in mind that sharapova was at her "prime" because she was juicing. now that she has to play clean, you're not going to see that kind of "prime" from sharapova going forward.

      @paperwait9611@paperwait96116 жыл бұрын
    • OptimistHunter Reel You're right. Sharapova is pretty much done, but Serena can still win some tournaments, and she is very hard to beat, I think. Osaka made me watch women's tennis again, I really like her.

    @njesseable@njesseable6 жыл бұрын
    • that play shows the level of growth in naomi's game. a year ago she wouldn't have known to utilize a lob in that situation. instead, she would have tried to blast the shot past the opponent and would have probably committed an unforced error.

  • the first set shows you why people see naomi osaka as a future #1 ranked player. that she was able to grind it out and win the second set is the kind of experience that will make it possible for her to actually become a #1 ranked player. naomi has the potential to be a major star in tennis. azarenka is not yet back to the top of her game yet, and clay is her worst surface, but this was a big win for naomi. the last time they played a couple of years ago at the australian open, naomi was able to hit big, but azarenka's understanding of how to implement playing strategies was so much better that naomi didn't really do much to bother azarenka's game. but naomi is a much better player now, and it showed in this match. she is getting better at working her way out of tough situations on court, by herself. the match against halep should be interesting. i don't consider naomi to be a top 10 player yet. top 10 players have typically achieved a level of consistency in their play. but the way that players seem to be getting motivated to play her would lead you to think that a lot of people are treating her like she is one already. naomi is very capable of winning the match but i have to give the edge to halep who i believe to be a better strategic player right now.
