In this fascinating video, I take on the challenge of testing the load-bearing capacity of LEGO® Technic bridges. Using various construction techniques, I build different models to determine if they can truly withstand more than 100 kg. Dive into the world of LEGO Technic bridges and witness these small wonders pushing their limits. Can a LEGO Technic bridge really hold so much weight? Find out by following this exciting experiment! 🌉💪 #LEGOBridges #Lego #100kgTest

    • My high school has a miniature bridge building team and they've built bridges out of nothing but little chopsticks and hot glue that have held 100kg, I heard from one of them that the highest on record was something massive like 150kg by one of the other local high schools. Most of their designs are arch bridges since you dont have any mounting points aside from the sides of the gap and a bridge like at the end of the video needs to be mounted in multiple spots.

    • @@LiveYourBricks it is cool, but as an engineer, your truss design was poor. If you're going to do a truss based design, vertical supports should not be used ALL supports between the bottom and top beams must be angled. When properly angled, the vertical beams will become zero force members (ie they do nothing) and if the truss shape (triangle to upsidedown triangle back to triangle) is made improperly with mixed squares and triangles like yours, that will hold loads poorly.

  • i remember doing a challenge like this a long time ago. my dad introduced me to a game called bridge builder. it taught me to build strong bridges in a physics game. then i had a engineering class in 4th grade and one day we were challenged to build a knex bridge and we needed to be able to support 30 lbs. i built a bridge and we tested it adding 5lbs at a time. eventually it came down to me and another kid who had successfully done 30lbs. the other kid’s bridge broke at 50lbs. the biggest dumbell the teacher had was a 120lb, and i asked if i could test with that. she couldn’t lift it but with a few 4th graders helping, we got it centered on my bridge. it held it just fine. then i asked if we could add some more. it finally broke at 145 lbs. the best part is that plastic broke before any joints came apart. i remember asking if i could include cables in my design but i was told no, so instead i used more rods.

    • Thank you for such a long and detailed comment, I'm glad I was able to inspire you with this video. It's fascinating how you can achieve anything with a few struts there, a few ropes here. Next I plan to build a Lego bridge, which should then be able to hold up to 200 kg. I'll then try to walk over it. I hope I can manage it, otherwise maybe you can help me. Greetings LiveYourBricks

  • If we assume, tractor to be some small compact tractor with a length of like 4 meters or lets say 5 meters. Weights are usually cast iron. They are ABOUT twice as long. Their thickness is about a meter (judging from lego figure and assume they are like 2 meters). One of those smaller discs weigh about 366 938 kg. They weight 5 kg irl so you need 20 of them to make 100. I'd be impressed if any small bridge of that size could hold 7,3 million kg.. Or 260 "Boeing 737" planes on top of it OR indeed 11 empire state buildings (~730 tons.) Maths will vary since I'm just ballparking.

    • Wow,👍🏼 that's what I call detailed calculation. Thank you very much for that. 👌 But also keep in mind that a real bridge is made of reinforced concrete and that is very heavy. A bridge like this must first and foremost be able to support itself. In the case of Lego parts, of course, this is not the case. LiveYourBricks

  • Awesome. That would be a nice challenge for LEGO Masters.

    • There actually was a bridge challenge in Lego Masters Finland. Winner bridge did hold 500 kg, no more weights were added due to safety reasons

  • The fact this can lift double my weight and my weight with ease is alarming and to think how bridges can break, this made of metal would be so strong

    • I was also surprised at how much the bridge can carry. When I was building it, I thought it would be good if the bridge could hold 50 kg, but it ended up being 100 kg.👍🏼👍🏼😀😀😀
