Are you frightened to buy an MR Triton?
Join us on our ongoing journey with an MR Triton GLS Deluxe. This video is good for an insight in to buying an MR Triton if you are in the market to get one, and also shows what you can do to them to set them up for the big lap around Australia like us.
We go in to detail to why we selected a dual cab, and better yet why we chose the triton. In this video we provide details of other utes we looked at, we provide a detailed look in to owning the triton so far with a perspective of the good, the bad, the ugly.
Tune in, grab something cold out of the fridge or get the jug on sit back and relax.

The head units pre Covid were very good. During Covid they used cheaper and nasty chips and it made the head units troublesome. Cheers
Yeah absolutely, we had an paj sport previously and never had an issue with the headunit.
The intake hoses usually go. Only cold side after the intercooler. Best fixed with very tough Western Filters 4 ply rubber hoses (second best is silicon). Cheers
They are on the list to get 😉
Heya - awesome video! The wheel tyre combo is almost exactly what I'd been looking at for my GLS - had you fitted these before the lift and bullbar? If so any rubbing? Cheers :D
Thanks so much, no scrubbing now we have lifted but when it was stock it was constantly rubbing against the front mud flaps haha, we have had them removed ever since. We also flex a bit on the rear and rub inside the inner Ali guard as we need extended bump stops at the rear.
Great video on the Triton. I don't understand why this remains such an underrated vehicle despite being as reliable as a Hilux. Thanks for the detailed review, with love all the way from Namibia.
Thanks for your comment, completely agree from what we have seen Mitsubishi has got the recipe right with the MR triton. 👌
Yes. More reliable than Hilux. MQ and MR never had dpf issues. Cheers
The 2.5 engine didn't do many favours it was a bit hit and miss
@@jasonfields2793 a bit more power would be elite
@jasonfields2793 agreed. In Australia though, even with high mileage (over 300,000 kilometres in some cases) Mitsubishi has replaced failed 2.5's with new motors. They have backed their product better than any other manufacturer I have seen.
Just the overhang of the rear axle to tow ball if youre towing a van causes swaying issues. Seen it too many times sitting behind them. Often too big of a van for dual cabs imo. I tow 2.8T van with a ford ranger. Anything more id want a bigger tow vehicle.
Yeah interesting we are yet to tow, we have a caravan in the works so hopefully it’s not to bad, van will be around the 2t mark. 😮
Follow up question: have you done anything in your experience to limit the swaying, like a weight distribution hitch etc? 😊
@@yan_stewi_travels nah Weight dist hitches are a bandaid fix. Better off setting up the suspension for towing properly the first time and getting your towball mass and caravan blanced wieght wise correctly. When you get your van go tow at 100, if all good and has no sway. Id own a triton if i didnt tow imo.
@@Mosesk1988 yeah okay good advice, thanks. The rangers are definitely better for towing as just bigger and more engine power where you need it, we will make sure to have it all weighed, we will set it all up and reveal how it all tows in the caravan reveal in a couple months time 💪
I got the same bullbar and having the same issues with the park sensors! Mitsubishi said to me it’s a faulty sensor and they’ll cover it under warranty
I’ll ask the dealer next service but I reckon they won’t do a thing due to it being an after market bar. Cheers!
@@yan_stewi_travels I’m still waiting for mines too be fixed 😂
@@karimyorkston9199 haha classic 😉
I went with the Bi Turbo Ranger. The Bi has been flawless and is proving more reliable than the V6. Also the most powerful 4 cylinder 4x4 on the market.
Yeah as we mentioned in the video the v6 was a jump in the unknown with reliability looks like it’s paying dividends atm with a few issues being reported, bi turbo 4 pot would be a good thing with the 10 speed, tbh we didn’t even consider them 🙄
The car is very capable and reliable for the price you paid . But dont over hang your canopy or over load stuff too far back from your rear wheels. Or else .
Yeah for sure we have everything inside the canopy over the rear wheels as much as possible, also we have made it all as lightweight as possible, check our canopy video if you have time best way to show what we mean 👌
@yan_stewi_travels no worries I will check that out . Good choice on the car 👌and wish you guys all the best .
