I use smooth stone for the rails, oak wood slabs for the sleepers, and cobblestone for the track ballast.

You can also use the create mode, they added trains, custom sizes rail, bogies and glue to glue your build into the bogie, you can build a custom train with bogies and you can build rails with no need of building by hand, you can stretch the rails as long as you want it to be and the rails can bend too

@@Im_here_to_guide_youno the create mod is only Java we do have some marketplace addons on bedrock and they are practically close enough but it only has a few parts of the create mod and it’s very buggy I don’t know if it has bogies tho I know it has the glue but idk about the bogies and other things needed to make a train
Also As a rail worker U need to make the platforms at least the same lenght as the train or longer, not shorter Everything else is good

I already built some trains in my world. I use smooth stone and wood slabs for the rails and blackstone for the train roofs. It has a much better texture. But i like how nice the colour of deepslate looks! Keep going!

some good buildings with the rails are Railroad Crossings, Morden Bridges, Transit on different lines stations. you should build that as well.
