  • That is great job. Solid. If You want to make it quick but just for few cuts, You only need a good quality of paper tape. I just stick two layers for both sides and it fit nice and tight. Take csre guys ! :)

  • I lost my mitre guage and made one from hardwood. It had the same problem, and I fixed it with a counter bored pilot hole for a wood screw. the head sticks out enough to take up the slack and can be adjusted as needed.

  • Top job ! I made an almost 100% same solution , over a year ago , by this same original miter gauge ! I used a part (2pc.) of another DeWalt machine with the same result as you developed !!! No need for Chinese monster miter gauges with bearings and stuff !

  • That's an awesome way to fix the slop/play in the mitre bar. It is a pity it doesn't address the issue with the gauge itself being highly inaccurate.

    • Yes, that's a great point. But after making these careful adjustments, the output seems to be more precise and acceptable to some extent. Thank you for your great feedback.

    • Hi, there is a free version of this application (the one I'm using here). It seems to have limited options compared to the pro version, but for a beginner, it's more than enough. Please use this link to find the software: www.sketchup.com/plans-and-pricing/sketchup-free. I used to learn this software through KZhead tutorials, and it has a shallow learning curve as well. There are many channels with a wide variety of tutorials, but personally, I prefer this one: www.youtube.com/@Thesketchupessentials/videos. Cheers!

  • Thats great solution! Could it be done also by completely replacing aluminium rail with the one custom made like we do for a cross cut sled? I feel like it could be easier 😅

  • Awesome video and thank you! But why can’t these miter gauge’s come out the box more reliably and accurate? I’m new to woodworking and I’m so confused on the list of jigs and after market equipment that is needed.

    @That0verthere@That0verthere6 ай бұрын
    • Thank you for your appreciation. You know manufacturers mainly give their attention on factors such as portability, cost (price), and on site easy maintenance when it comes to 'job site' table saws like this. Precision is often a secondary consideration, but that doesn't necessarily mean the output is always imprecise. If we tune this machine so carefully, the output can reach the precision level of cabinet saw. As you mention in your comment, there are lot more aftermarket jigs and equipment available, but those can be quite expensive.

    • Dewalt jobsite saw (DWE7485) costs $299. A decent precise miter gauges starts at $100-300.

  • I like your fix AND Sketchup knowledge but the best fix for, almost all contractor saws if you want to afford it, is to buy an aftermarket miter gauge. They are much more stout and accurate. Thanks! !! !!!

  • Great design and fix but I believe you would be better off replacing the miter gauge with an incra now work on that wobbling Drill Press shaft.

  • Overkill much? 1. Just slide it into the slot to undo the screw with thread lock. 2. Use a cotton swab + isopropyl alcohol to degrease the sides. 3. Use PTFE tape on one side. Cut the excess off with a blade. 4. Use the cut off part of the tape on the other side - cut the excess off... 5. Rub the tape with a dry cotton swab to ensure good adhesion. 6. Done. Less than 5 minutes total. No SketchIp skills, massive vise, drill press or fancy screws required...
