N Korea wastes people like this amazing lady. She immediately understood. S Korea gained an great citizen when she defected.
@Dirty Joe Ok Bot...No Content and account dates to this week.... YOU are Propaganda
N Korea doesn't waste them. It kills them.
This Chanel gives me perspective that I sometimes take my freedom for granted. I admire the strength and courage of this beautiful woman. Thank you for sharing.
Your right....we keep forgetting all the things that we have and to be great full for that....but this channel keeps showing the other side of the coin....and what all the people are still going through... 💜👍
So very true...I wish we could be put in rooms seat and watch what others go through and how they view our freedoms which we take for granted especially now with all the domestic turmoil we have going ....hope we wake sooner than later and appreciate what we've been able to accomplish where others can not only dream...
I just wanted to say that I admire all of you for what you are doing on this channel. It takes great courage and conviction to speak out against such awful tyranny. You have my utmost respect.
I love this channel for their hard work to reveal the real situation in north Korea. I hope with all my hearth that ALL Koreans can see the joy of this world and the happiness of life. Until i found this channel I knew nothing! We never learned anything about Korea, except the Korean war, and it makes me sad. We should teach children the hardships of other countries right now, not the history. Although history is a great teacher, doesn't mean it can help the people living in the present.
@@masavrabl2128 Not teaching our children history is what is causing the problems we see in the United States presently.
Sadly, there are so many who want the U.S. to be just like North Korea. They have no idea what they do want. If they would simply talk to people from North Korea or lived behind the Iron Curtain or came from Cuba or escaped from Mainland China they may rethink what they want. Na-a-a-a-a-a, they're to stupid to see the outcome of their wishes.
@@Eyes-of-Horus I agree. There’s a yt channel called Dimple that often has defectors from North Korea on there that talk their experiences under that regime. It’s pretty enlightening.
@@unclecorey1495 Ummmmmmm....Not sure if Serious
This happens even if the veteran was never awarded a medal. It is the fact that they served.
My uncle was deployed, but choked on a cherry seed. Salute! 🇺🇸
A formal notice isn't sent out to the community, but usually someone lets the community know.
all soldiers who died in combat is awarded a medal.
As an immigrant to the U.S. I hear a lot of crap from foreigners that we're falling apart and the worst place in the world. I moved here to escape bad conditions and love it here. Thank you, these videos remind me that although there are flaws where I shouldn't be ashamed to be proud of certain things with my country either
True. No place is perfect and it's not always a place for others but it still may be better for others too. This goes all around the world. Some places are just better fit for other people for them to move forward and sometimes they will prefer things differently.
@Craig Dendy yeah, because starving, unarmed North Koreans are able to overthrow their authoritarian government. Or poor Mexican civilians trying to overthrow their government AND the multiple Cartels that operate in Mexico lol you should be more mad about your tax dollars lining the pockets of billionaires. I bet you're real scared of that whole "replacement" thing aren't ya?
@Craig Dendy yeah whatever GOP do-boy. Have fun thinking only one side of the government is to blame for all of our problems. How blissful is must be to be that ignorant.
@Craig Dendy The "conquest" of the Americas and the dispossession and genocide of the people already living here are not an episode in our history to be proud of.
@@stealyourface6000 All people are able to overthrow their governments. The ability to govern is always derived from the consent of the governed.
My father-in-law was a veteran of the Korean War and at his funeral a group from the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) attended. They all saluted him for his service.
My grandpa was a veteran of the Korean War and they also did a full military service for him. My great uncle just died at the age of 98 and he was on the shores of Normandy on D-Day. Wild.
My father was in WW2, Korea and Vietnam.. 26 years in the military. Me? Vietnam and Desert Storm. I had a draft number of 23. They were sending all draftees to Nam. So I joined USAF.
I'd like to hear about this supposed "pension" of children of Korean Wars because when my dad died in 1991 (yes, he was in Korea) I was told "no, we stopped that last year!". So 4 years of Nursing School at a private Christian university all paid for by my 3-4 jobs I managed to scrounge up!
I have always been proud to be American, but this channel constantly reminds me WHY I'm so proud of this country.
Same here. The wonderful woman in this video who used to live and serve in North Korea has more love and respect for America than some of our own citizens. 🇺🇸
@@SoldierPoet Acctually it's not weird for people living in better conditions to be that way. They never saw real war, real hardships and the horror of a one-sided dictatorship. They are living in a four wall covered fantasy, which in my opinion is worse, that protects them from all outside turmoil. It's sad some people never expand their knowlage and culture outside of their walls.
@@masavrabl2128 The entire point is that people have the freedom to stay in a "four wall covered fantasy" or leave and "expand their knowlage(sic) and culture". Every individual has the choice to do as they wish with their lives. Not sure if you meant it this way but it seems as if you're saying that those who haven't experienced life under a dictator, lived through a war or experienced "hardships" have a worse life than those who do. Is that not why all those generations before us fought and died, so that we could have the freedoms we have now? Did they not go through hell so that we WOULDN'T have to experience it ourselves?
Agreed. My family legally migrated to America in the early 80s. Parents worked 2 jobs each to provide for their sons. When the time came to be citizens, they didn’t think twice. Parents have passed away but I will never stop to appreciate what America offered a poor family from the Philippines. A better life thru hard work. We never expected to be given anything. Just the opportunity to work for our family dreams.
Me too.
I like this channel, hope the North Korean People will be free soon.
My husband of 33 years passed away last November, he was given military honors, it was the hardest thing in my life to see, it’s hard not having him around anymore..😔
I'm sorry for your loss, and grateful for your husband's service
I’m sorry for your loss :( also you don’t look even close to old enough to have been married that long 😳
Just so you know. As a Veteran, most states have cemeteries where veterans can be buried with honor for FREE. As veterans we now have additional benefits from the states. As an example we get into state parks for free. Most states have license tags that show veteran status, medals received, Branch of Service etc
Yes, my Dad served in Korea and Vietnam. He’s getting both a Catholic and military funeral. (He’s not well. Age 93, US Navy, CPO.)
Always surprises me to find things I grew up considering normal is touching to someone else, heck when my uncle retired from the marines after 20 years they had a huge ceremony for him
Never take anything for granted ...it could be gone in an instant
@@HellStr82 especially these days. Things are held together by a thread right now with half the country still angry at Democrats and Dems angry at Trumplicans. The death of the GOP has caused more problems than i ever imagined. I definitely took a thriving 2 party system for granted. Now we have 1 functional party essentially and the other is a circus act. (I used to be a GOP member but jumped ship so i have a totally different perspective than someone else who lets just say "stuck it out" with how it is now)
I truly hope that Hye gyeong has a wonderful life living free, and hopefully one day North Korea is free allowing its people to live as a free people.
what an amazing woman!
Please react to Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, What it takes to guard the tomb of the unknown soldier, A Female Sentinel’s last walk, and The Changing of the Guards ceremony. It’s all centers around the tomb of the unknown. I think people will enjoy the learning about it and seeing the reactions.
I'm not a fan of how Kim treats his soldiers. We would treat you better as a prisoner of war than he treats you in the streets of your own country, and that's not an exaggeration. Idc what country you're from. A soldier deserves a certian level of respect for being willing to die for their people.
The benefits the PD is listing, $1400 monthly pension, military academy admissions, free travel on military flights., is only for Medal of Honor recipients.
They REALLY need to do better research, they tend to only do cursory research. An MoH recipient is extremely rare.
I enjoy watching these interviews, but between the poor research and sloppy translations it is difficult.
actually all retirees can get Space Available (MAC or Military Airlift Command) flights to military destinations. for the longest time it was free for all veterans. I think they now have a small fee for it. But the thing is if there is a VIP or someone with higher priority the Veteran can be bumped from the flight and have to wait for the next available plane. When i was on active duty it was risky for active mid to lower ranked enlisted or mid or low rank officers to rely on it if they were going on or returning from leave. But for a retiree; usually the risk of being bumped of a particular was worth it because they often have no strict time line for when they have to return home or even get some where away from home. you cannot beat flying halfway around the world (to anywhere near a MAC terminal) for free or at least for cheap fees. :)
@@jerryadams6799 A few guys in my unit took a trip to Hickam AFB, Hawaii when they found out that one of our C-5s was going there enroute to a mission.
I felt that when she said “NK is not even a country” ☹️
Did I understand that right? Her early retirement earned her 1.32 pounds of rice and 5 U.S. cents a month in North Korea?
That was before the rice distribution network collapsed. After that, she just got the 5 cents. Imagine being a father trying to support a family on that pension, and you'll understand why some of the parade marchers she trained with didn't want their families notified that they were dying of malnutrition. They didn't want their family to feel guilty for not sending some of their rice. NK is such a shitshow that it's literally incredible.
@Dirty Joe Yes, it's propaganda that a country smaller than Texas with bad soil is suffering
Aside from the accounts of the Defectors, one of the more Striking things, when it comes to North Korea and the Conditions there, are the Satellite photos at Nighttime. with the exception of a VERY few Cities, the Country is dark, while everything around it is lit.
@Dirty Joe anybody who believes you is the one who's really stupid.
We may be good at honoring our fallen soldiers, but we could use some improving on how we treat the ones who make it home. We need more benefits, assistance and resources for our veterans. It's so easy for us to forget about them once they've removed the uniform.
Indeed. We still have homeless vets we don't care about, but when they die, we suddenly care about them.
Perfect video for the US' Memorial Day Weekend...Thank you, Dimple!!! You all remind me constantly how much I have to be grateful/thankful for!!!!
OOHRAH! Keep up your resolve and strength! I served the USArmy for more than 5yrs in the ROK. The mental and physical strength you displayed in your decision and execution of your defection from the north is commendable. To leave your life and family for the unknown, on the belief that life is better no matter what somewhere else! I only wish that some of my fellow countryman could understand what Freedom means to those people that have never experienced liberty and freedom. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, and welcome to the rest of your life. I hope that you find peace and Happiness. I love South Korea, country, people and the culture. 😀
The best thing about this channel is that they subtitle with summaries as opposed to trying to translate exactly. I speak Korean and English, and I can see how a direct translation would actually make it harder to understand her intent.
Im not crying just got somthing in my eye
I have a lot of respect for this wonderful lady. It would be an honor as a American combat veteran to buy her a drink and learn from each other next time I can come back to South Korea
Thank you. You are very kind to share your story. Thank you for all of the good you do.
I salute these men and women who risked their lives for something they had been told their entire lives for something they were told never existed.
Thank you for your perspective Have a blessed day
You look beautiful in this video. I hope this video reaches the people in North Korea so that they can learn their soldiers desrve much more honor than they receive there.
Hye Gyeong, GOD Bless You! I know your service is mandatory, yet you did the time, 8 years, and I respect you the Soldier, and The Human you are. I am happy to hear your story, and Thankful you survived to tell it to us all. Blessings forever Dear!
Thank you Dimple, for quality content! I love learning about different cultures. Much love, from the State of Minnesota (U.S.A.) 💜
Thank you for the Great video
Di Indonesia kami diajarkan bahwa negara yang besar adalah negara yang menghargai jasa jasa para pahlwannya. We in Indonesia being taught that a country can become a big country if they honour the service of their war heroes
"0:28" The Mario coin sound is hilarious!
This lady is a fair, just and compassionate person with beauty of heart and mind, she is a beautiful person,I enjoy her videos
What a delightful Woman.
Keep up the Great work
The only thing I don’t like about the topic of the US military is it tends to get romanticized as a great thing with help for everyone. That isn’t always the case. A lot of the US is Rural and it’s very hard for veterans to find doctors. Long waiting lists. They promise this money for college and other pay outs, but it can take years to authorize. The administration and distribution of medical care and funds to veterans is shaky. They also have huge histories of hiding their own war crimes and sexual assaults via having their own police. I have a friend who after waiting 1 whole year for hearing aids (he hit an ied and it blew his eardrum) he started college. They are supposed to give money for books and supplies amd it just “wasn’t ready” for the first two semesters of university. So he just didn’t have books. It’s not all perfect, but on the surface it may look that way.
I always felt weird watching these videos because in a sense they are watching propaganda videos but from the American POV...it's like they never get to be free from propaganda no mater where they go, it's sad.
Being a veteran who went to college after my service I can say that simply isn't true.
Thank you for your insight sis!
@@MuscleboundKage Someone had to say it. ❤
@@michaelconrad1443 just because you got your money on time doesn’t mean that every other veteran does.
Ty
Maybe the Americans who talk bad about America and call it evil should watch these types of stories so they can see how good they actually have it.
I love these contents
Sadly, more and more American despise these acts of appreciation and respect for America’s citizen-soldiers. It takes someone like this brave lady to appreciate these acts of kindness.
I would like to recommend a special program for those people who unhappy to be an American: We offer a one way ticket to certain countries, so they can go somewhere they want to be, on the condition they give up their citizenship and won't return. We don't have such a program here in the States now, but I think we should create one.
@@julieenslow5915 Or you could try to make the country as a whole better? Instead of the narrowminded mentality of "Love it or Leave it." >_< How about a program to take care of our ALIVE vets instead?
@@williamyoung9401 Many people have been doing that for years. My father was a WW2 vett, I was his caretaker for his last 9 years. My brother was a Viet Nam vet, he's still alive thank you and the family cares for him (as he does them). He has 5 kids,10 grand kids and at least 3 great grand kids plus my other brother, his wife and son. I am very into caring for our vets - we have had a lot of them in our family. It's going on every day in so many households. We have a non government program for this - but help is still needed. Homeless vets need help, and many of our vets don't have family or the family is unable to help. A program for that would be excellent.
Good job
💯
If NK embraced Democracy they should do fantastic. They’re hardworking, loyal and have a strong moral compass and traditional values. It’s the dictatorship that holds them back.
In the USA, I often see policemen and sometimes firemen who eat at the same cafe where I eat, sometimes I see an American veteran wearing a cap that shows the service he was in. When I see these people, I always tell them "Thank you for your service." For it is service to our country, whether nationally, or locally, military or in the state or just local city. They put their lives on the line to protect us. That deserves respect! It is simply my way of giving the respect that they earned.
Please do reactions for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Changing of the Old Guard (Honor Guard).
I'd recognize that Kerbal Space Program theme music anywhere. I wonder if it's open-source or something. Weird to hear it in a random video. They had the KSP menu music in one of their other videos as well.
They should see the monument to the soldiers who died in Vietnam.
I just wanted to say how badly I feel for your people and the way they must live . Everyone is entitled to common respect and the right to live in peace and honor. Thank you for speaking out and letting the world know of your country and what the people of NK have to endure just to survive . And on a side note You are a very beautiful people
I keep thinking she's in her teens and early 20s but her experience says she's just aged gracefully
Nobody tell her about Trump laughing at American soldiers and calling them chumps for serving their country.
Im shocked too
I wish you would show more of the videos of what shes seeing too?
Congrats on earning medals. Nice to watch.
I pray NK will be a free country soon, this people have endure so much suffering. A true President should behave like a good father toward his people
I have a lot of medals including the Purple Heart. I don't know anything about a pension for having medals here in the U.S.
Just the Medal of Honor, I think.
@@LoveToRead8 really? Well, they deserve it and more.
I have a meritorious commendation Ribbon and 4 Medals, two for serving off North Korea in 1968, and I don't expect anything because of them. I went out, I came back, they gave me stuff.
@@webbtrekker534 Nobody expects anything from medals...I would hope
I have always thought the medals were more like a formal "thank you" from the military, and for recognition of their best services. Something a civilian can see and know without knowing anything more will understand this person made a special contribution, for which the whole country should be grateful.
Greetings from Scotland my sister lives in Pleasanton California USA she also says hello
I come from something of a military family, with at least one member of each generation around the world serving in their country’s military, so I have a very high sense of respect for soldiers and the like, even if I don’t support war itself.
Never seen my country like this before, I apologize for taking such trivial things for granted.
It'd be nice if you could replace the text translation box at the bottom, as it moves a little too fast, in favor of a spoken translator (muting down the speakers words). You can't watch the woman's facial expression (very important) and then try to read the text translation at the bottom. You can't read all the translation as it quickly disappears. However, for god's sake don't get some on the cheap voice box translator. Otherwise, these interviews are very interesting and informative.
To the North Korean officer that they're interviewing in this video also thank you for your service I mean this in a respectful way
I would like to c reaction of this lady on videos of simple people who became soldiers because thy homeland is attacked and over a night become fighters .. and win the war .. example Croatian war.. I was 3 years old and i remember all
6:30 I used to do Military Honors and did a service once to a soldier who served during the Korean War. (I've done multiple Korean War and Vietnam War services. Had a couple of WWII and present vets as well. Most of the present ones were from suicide though...) The only people who were at this specific Korean War vet's funeral were 3 Military Honor Guardsmen, 8 VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), Priest, and a Funeral Home Director. The priest ended up sending a letter to our NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge) telling him that even though no one else was present, we still held ourselves as if there were thousands of people watching us. "On Behalf of the President of the United States of America, The United States Army, and a grateful national, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved ones honorable and faithful service." -Followed by saluting the Next of Kin
Its really sad, things they think are rewards are things we do and have in everyday life and its no big deal.
When you see this girl cry, just remember there's a 16 year old Bushwick Maoist right now tweeting about the greateness of the anti-imperialist Kim regime from the safety of his trust fund apartment.
Many of us try to remember and thank the living Veterans for their Sacrifice and Service. It is because of them, that we have this country. It is not perfect, but for now, we are free. If that ever changes, many of us will make the sacrifice to eliminate those who would enslave us.
My Grandfather was a veteran of the Korean war and my Father was stationed on the boarder in the late 70's, and my mother lived there during part of his tour. I was conceived there. Korea is a part of my family history. I am happy you decided to go to SK and are learning about the US as I imagine most information allowed by NK is propaganda. I wish you peace and happiness 😊
In America, we are not really expected to do anything much less serve the country in some useful way. A lot of people do. But a lot of people don't. I am sure that would be a mind blowing fact about the US to a North Korean.
I'm happy for you that you got out.
Link to her channel??
🤙
Her skin is like glass. I need her skin care regimen like yesterday.
In Canada, when soldier dies in the line of duty, there is usually a procession from the airport to the funeral home. In the city I used to live in there was a special highway blocked off during the procession and people and forst responsders line up for miles along the route and is often broadcasted live. Career military can make a lot of money in the Canadian forces. Soldiers can get even advanced degrees paid for. I have a few relatives who were career military. I used to work for someone who was making a six figure salary and still is. His pension is more than most people get. Of xourse military salary depends on your rank and job. He also has his own business that he was trained for while in the military now that he makes even more than he did in the military.
What she say "N- Korea is not event country", after she laughfing 😂
Does she Have Her Own KZhead Channel
The North Korean officer in this video was she A Major General or A Command Sergeant Major or comrade major or Corporal captain I love learning about other places
Check how Canada deals with the fallen and show them the hiway of heroes.
I feel so bad for the North Korean people. They have so little and are treated so badly by their own country. They couldn't imagine how wonderful it is to be in the American military. We serve because we love our country and the freedoms it affords us. I hope one day that the North Korean government will collapse without war and the people will be embraced by South Korea. Then Korea can truly be one again and free. My prayers go out to you and all the people of North Korea. I know that many hate the U.S. but that is only because they have been lied to and deceived.
Amen honey that's why females work harder and longer in the military than most men do and that includes America as well
3 cups of rice and a nickel a month? And then that's taken away due to loss of supplies. Wow.
Yup just think if you don’t like the USA you can go here and live...😂😂😂
If i may, we do not hate a country(or people) but that the powers that be that threaten or attack and shackle others, we believe in equality and love for others no matter of where they come from, the religion they they worship, their physical or mental abilities or the wealth they possess, people should be able to choose what they want in career, life or religion and that women should be loved and praised,, even though not all Americans can agree on such subjects, because of only seeing the picute from 1 side, i believe and hope that 1 day we all will lean and understand what others are made to see and believe.. then start living in peace, love and understanding and spend less hating and separating. We are all one race: The Human Race👫.. the time for living for each other is now and the time for shackling and oppressing one another is a thing of the past
Somehow I fear for y'all's safety for speaking the truth about NK. Stay safe and be well 🙏🏼 💙 ❤️
Not a ONE YEAR $1400.00 A MONTH
I am so sorry your country is under the control of a Dictator, it makes me so angry that he holds himself so above his people😡. No one should go hungry while he lives a life of luxury! How can he face the people when they're hungry and he is so fat? I 🙏 pray that South Korea will see that N. or S. You are all Korean and those who are brave enough to cross over will be welcomed and cared for🧡. I hope all of you are slowly changing things, I read about a young woman and her child who left NK but was unable to make enough money to buy food and they starved to death in their apartment It broke my heart and it is so hard for me to understand how a woman and her child could waste away and no one notice. I can not believe that. I will not. Please set up a help center I'm sure people would donate money to help. We will I am positive of that😃!
Please invite Jung Yuna North Korean defector
our brothers and sisters in north korea endure unimagined hardships, remember them in prayer, god bless you sister, ( all men are like grass, and all there glory is like the flowers of the field , the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our god stands for ever 1 peter 1 v24 )
why is it ALWAYS the US? and not other country's? like the EU? But it is a nice video and i love the channel
Please look up Patriot Guard Riders in your state to join us in respect. You don't have to be a biker, or a veteran to join.
WAIT✋. Did she say her pension was a mouthful of rice starch a nickel each month?! (600g rice and $0.05)
Ahh, I remember us coming to guard the DMZ line from Ft. Lewis, Wa in '96. Most of the UN aid food shipments were seized by the military, the rest left to rot spoil on the docks. We were waiting for a flood of starved civilians. All we got were a few defecting border guards. I guess it's tough to crawl thru the DMZ after a four year famine... Never heard of a civilian making it.
I'm afraid this video has a lot of misinformation.
The courage it took for you to leave NK is amazing by itself. You had to be scared shitless lol!!!
Bru....why hasn't there been a coupe in NK?
Why edit out the part with President Obama ??
Yahhhhhhhhhhaaaaasaaassssss
God bless USA
I think you mean “.05 USC” 😂💀 I shouldn’t be laughing, the fact that people who work as hard as her are only given that amount is crazy.
I'm glad she escaped the dprk.
I believe that North Korean soldiers should be remembered and honored as well. Why? Because, even though they might simply be trying to get a better life for their families, or have been brainwashed by the hideous Kim family, they served their country as best as they could. Much like how those who fought for the Confederacy in America, or Nazi Germany, or the Soviet Union; right or wrong, they were willing to lay down their lives to serve and defend. That has to be worth something. I just wish it was for the right principles.
She’d be shocked by this, it’s an airport for armed forces, taking troops where they need to be in the world and back home. For some they won’t be there on leave as soldiers who’ve passed are taken there too. The town will be out, rain or shine to pay their respects. They line the usual funeral procession roads. www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-wiltshire-14726697 I’d love to know what she’d think of that. If the person who’s passed is anywhere in the country they have a police escort, as it passes into and out of counties police discreetly leave the procession & officers from the county they’re In take their places.
President Obama got onto a helicopter, realised he hadn’t saluted the solder. So he got off, walked to the soldier, standing right in front of him and saluted. He said something too, I’m sure it would have been an apology. I can’t imagine the mango coloured squatter who was squatting in the White House would have done that. He has no respect, he once said at a funeral…solders (like the one who passed) were stupid for joining the armed forces/military 😤
