  • This is by far the best breakdown ive seen thus far, but I still believe that during the dinner scene Alejandro was there with the sole intent on killing the boss and the boss alone but it wasnt until the boss trivialized the death of his family and mockingly said "Tu hijita" in reference to his daughter that Alejandro realized that the only way for the boss to truly understand the gravity of what he had done he needed to experience it first hand. Also, at the end when he told the boss to finish his meal it seemed more-so like a dare to see if he thought Alejandro would actually allow and give him that final curtesy before ending his life. Either way this movie was beyond fucking brilliant.

    @w_419@w_4196 ай бұрын
    • I will respectfully disagree. I feel that his intent was always the elimination of the whole family. Tit for Tat. It has been proven to be a mathematically sound method for dealing with an ongoing cycle (game) of the Prisoner's Dilemma, which is a rather good way of defining our interactions with others, when viewed economically, when looking at balancing potential Gains vs. Loses, in a definable, or quantifiable method. Alejandro was simply responding in kind.

    • I half agree here. See, Alejandro went to Alarcon's mansion at night, so he had to at least consider that Alarcon would be there with his family. Moreover, I always believed that the act of Alejandro killing Alarcon's wife and kids served 2 purposes. 1) Alarcon had accepted his fate but still thought that Alejandro would spare his family as he was probably counting on Alejandro showing a small amount of mercy. Probably betting that Alejandro [a former father] still had a tiny bit of humanity in him. Moreover, as you mentioned, Alejandro ended his wife and kids because he wanted Alarcon to know that A) nothing Alarcon did or say could save him and his family and B) and probably most important and critical to the plot, Alejandro wanted Alarcon to know and experience the feeling he went throught when his family was murdered. As I was typing this, I also realized something. Earlier I had mentioned that Alarcon was counting on showing some mercy which I believe he did. By ending Alarcon's family with headshots [assumed] he spared the sons and mother a slow death. Something Alarcon did not do with Alejandro's family as it was stated that his wife was decapitated [cartel decapitations are usually with knives, machetes, or chainsaws and are generally prolonged] and gis daughter disolved in acid [also a slow and painful death]. 2) This is where I differ in opinion. Alejandro killed his wife and kids to prevent a further violent cycle where the wife or kids would seek vengeance. Especially, once the boys were old enough. Moreover, the kids where likely to get into the business once old enough and carry out their own ruthless wave of horror and violence as is common with families in that line of work.

  • Benecio as the Sicario is up there with Heath Ledgers Joker, Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurh, Keanus John Wick, Tom Cruise's Vincent and Jean Reno's Leon as the best on screen assassins in cinema history. For some reason all of these roles are very profound and transcend mere action alone, and all of these characters are essentially assassins.

  • An interesting bit of trivia about the term "sicario": not only does the term go back to Roman times, it also has what looks like an ancient Indo-European cognate in both the northern Indian and Iranian members of that language group. For example, in Hindi, "shikari" means "hunter" as does its equivalent in Farsi.

  • When he said "this is the land of wolves and you're not a wolf..." kinda implies Alejandro's competency in navigating power dynamics in the cartel / CIA to fulfill his objectives... based on that quote he's telling her that you don't know what it takes to survive in this land with your morals. Alejandro has survived the cartel and into the CIA and he was able to because by himself he's even more dangerous... a lone wolf, an INFJ.

    • Alejandro being an INFJ, he would have tried to bring about real change in a peaceful and lawful manner and been 100% pure in motive. He would have worked tirelessly and empathically to make a better city... until his family was butchered. The INFJ's the mind is idealistic and if one system fails they will bring about a different system. Alejandro went from a Messenger of Hope to an Angel of Death. White becomes Black, such is INFJ thinking.

As an ITNP (introverted thinker, extroverted intuitive, evtraverted senate with an inferior function of extraverted feeling I see everything and agree with your thoughts completely. I completely missed Benicio Del Torro as the shooter in the tunnel who disarmed Emily Blunt's character and his reason for doing so. Especially given that no shots were fired at her partner. You cleared that right up! I hope you continue to make these videos. I don't typically comment on KZhead videos I watch but your Jungian approach was so compelling I had to.

    • I somewhat agree but definitely understand your statement. The second one was good in my opinion. It showed a way more gritty & empathetic side to the cartels. Like becoming a human trafficker is a career choice to some of them if not idolized but the successful. It's extremely crazy but gives a lot of people insight if they dont know anything at all. People seem to forget that people in general are not that smart so you need to spoon feed them little by little & i think thats what they did in the second one. As it also shows what happens when Uncle Sam pulls the plug & wants absolutely nothing to do with you or what you represent and/or doing. (also scary) I cant say which movie is better. But, the 2nd one left a great cliff hanger. Happy for Alejo in the 1st one and how it ended but i felt completely deflated & somewhat cheated. The ending felt like 10 minutes. I hope there's a 3rd

They tend to approach life with deep thoughtfulness and imagination. Their inner vision, personal values, and a quiet, principled version of humanism guide them in all things.

At 10:54 you can see he has a suppressed MP5 which would not give the same signature or have the same outline. Plus it has an optic. Just a discrepancy - otherwise I love everything else about the breakdown.

John Wick is interesting; as Keanu Reeves is not a INFJ, but rather an INTP and his brand of acting tends to always be INTP. I was thinking of creating a video on the INFJ vs ENTP story in the Dark Knight Returns maybe at some stage. I although I will prob make an INFJ video on the brilliantly acted "Anton Chirgurth" in "No country for Od Men" first. What do you think? :)
