A few viewers have reached out to ask for help with their Eddi or Zappi setup, specifically with the device saying waiting for surplus even where they are exporting solar.
In this video I show you how to see the readings from the MyEnergi CT clamps to better understand what the device thinks is happening.

  • Good vid. Subbed & liked. This looks very familiar. I'm having issues with my Zappi which was installed a few months ago with my 4.1kW solar array, GivEnergy hybrid inverter & GE 9.5kWh battery. I also have an Eddi which seems to be behaving itself but the Zappi will not charge even when there's excess solar &, when I force it to charge at night on off peak lekky it drains the battery. I think part of the problem is that both the Eddi & Zappi have CT's on the grid supply when there should only be one Grid CT on the MyEnergi network. As for the battery drain issue (which seems to fairly common problem) I may have to add & config extra CT's. I have an engineer coming back to take a look at it this week but this video has given me a good idea of where the problem is.

  • Thank you, Dale, I have had a Zappi for 5 months and could not understand why surplus energy was not charging my Tesla working correctly. I understand now as the Zappi was not configured correctly upon its installation. The CT clamps were not configured at all, with your help I have configured them and all appear to be okay.

  • Hi Dale, thanks for the video. My issues with excessive Export and Powerwall drain continue as we have exchanged details about. CTs are all correct as are Avoid Drain etc. Myenergi and Dr Chris are investigating but sadly still no resolution yet. So frustrating.

    • Yeah, your situation is an odd one for sure. Hopefully it can be resolved, as would frustrate me no end also.

  • Hi hope your well thanks for the vid. Installed a Eddie recently and struggling to connect it to the internet. Also struggling to find the reg code. Anychance you could help would be great cheers

    • To find the reg code on the Eddi, go into the Main Menu and scroll down to and enter Information. Once in the Information menu scroll through to page 2 of 6, and at the bottom you will see the Reg Serial Number and Reg Code. In terms of connecting to the Internet, you can either do this directly wired via Ethernet (you need to open the case for this), or join your WiFi. Its difficult to help with this, as how this works will depend on your WiFi network configuration.

    • @@SpectrumGeeks ok mate that’s great thought so. Struggling to connect to the network. Is there a RJ45 port on the Eddie 2.1 do you know ? Would check but not currently at the job. Thanks Chris

  • Hi Dale. Your video is excellent and just what I’ve been looking for to solve my Zappi/solar issues. I installed a Zappi 2.1 last year and recently added solar and batteries to my home. Now the weather is sunny I’ve tried charging my ev with solar but it drains my battery then goes to the grid, which is not what I want. I only have one CT clamp which is for the grid. In order for Zappi to see solar excess and avoid going to battery and grid do I need two more CT clamps, one for solar and one for battery? And can these be connected wirelessly to Zappi? Thanks.

    @stevesmith7675@stevesmith7675 Жыл бұрын
    • Yeah you will need additional CT clamps (about £15 each) and to connect to the Zappi wirelessly you will need the Harvi (about £55), then in the Zappi you can use the avoid battery drain option. Now your Zappi will have information on grid, solar and battery to operate in a more optimal way. Also on your Zappi, if you want it to only use solar (when there is surplus) you want the option Eco+, and then only time it will use the grid is when there is an active boost timer.
