The Doors - Black Train Song / Mystery Train
(Junior Parker / Sam Phillips 1955 - Add lyrics by J.D. Morrison)
The Doors Live At The Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA.
May 1,1970
People get ready there's a train a-comin',
You don't need a ticket,
Climb on board.
Wooo hooooo
Train a-ride
Sixteen coaches long. (2)
Well that mean old train,
Took my baby,
He's gone.
Train, train
Coming 'round the bend.(2)
Yeah, that mean old evil train
Took my one and only friend.
Train, train
Coming down the line.(2)
Well, that mean old rotten train
Took the only friend of mine.
Woo Oh..Oh..
Train, train
Coming down the track.(2)
Yeah, he took my baby
And he never bring her back, alright.
Away, away, away,
Away in India.
Away, away, away,
Away in India.
Dead track !
Well I woke up this morning got the crossroads on my mind (2)
Take a walk with me
Everything will work out fine
Well, I woke up this morning got the junk train on my mind (2)
Take a walk with me and everything will work out fine
Well, I woke up this morning got the H-bomb on my mind (2)
Take a walk with me everything,
everything will work out fine
Well, I woke up this morning got the crossroad on my mind (2)
Take a walk with me
Everything....(4)
will work out fine
Woooo Woooo
Train, train
Coming on...
Took my baby,
Took my baby,
Took my love
Away...
Well I woke up this morning, yeah....
Nothing on my mind.

This is literally the Doors absolute peak in my opinion. This live performance show cases every aspect of the band that made them fucking legendary. The unmatched talent of Ray, John's incredible jazzy and melodic drumming, Robbie's stellar blues guitar mixed with his flamenco-esque training, and of course Jim sounding more haunting than ever before. And the way they transition into Away In India is fucking incredible, and adds that psychedelic, yet almost primal flare. Jim screaming "THAT'S RIGHT!", just fucking perfect. They all just sound like they'd rather be no where else than right there on stage jamming their asses off. The best American band ever.
Man your a believer. Incredible. The whole band. What about rhe last words of Jim?
That,s right
,🍻👍🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Everything in this statement is 💯 true😊. Viva The Doors
One of the greatest rock bands in the world!!! Long live the Lizard King!!!!
The Doors ❤💕😘😍
I can't understand how the singer of this band, hasn't been received as the greatest singer/entertainer of his time???
You're right. What about the other guys in the band too? They ain't just some garage backup band.
uh who are you talking about? The Doors had a lead singer? Really? who was that
EXACTLY SIR!
@@billsrippedfitnessover5047 In my opinion The Doors are the greatest band as a whole, to this day! Unfortunately though when Jim passed, one quarter was gone!
Bad role model. Bowie is much more appropriate for that title.
I was there 👍🏻
Lucky man
Greatest Poet of his Time …’cause the present time can’t handle him . Love him ♾️
I'm 48 and fell in love with the doors at around 15 and listen to them few times a week this performance a demonstration of how brilliant they were, classic
Im 42. I think I was 11 or 12 when my sister introduced me to them. I have not been the same since. That's a fact.
I was 14 yrs old when I was introduced to the Doors. 43 yrs later and I still rate them as one of my all time favorite bands.
Im 44 I became obsessed after watching the doors movie as a 12 year old child.. had every one if his cds my walls were covered lol
I'm 47.I fell in love with Doors as a curious 15 year old....always been my top 5 bands along with Grateful Dead. This song amaes me every time I hear it .all 4 if them,Ray,john, robby and Jim are in perfect sync
I don't understand how these gentlemen manage to give me chills every time. Every time.
The Doors didn't give you a song to listen to, they took you on a journey. It wasn't a concert, it was an experience. People left changed.
it's magic...!!!
And imagine that Jim never "learned" to sing...
@@yannickgregor7679 "to learn" is to imply theres a preordained rule to how it should be done; clever use of quotations
Because Jim Morrison is a Celtic-American hero.
Oh my goodness this man Jim is the sexiest singer I've ever seen and heard in my life 💥🎸🫦
Isn't this one of the best train songs of all time?
Still the greatest. The Doors. They needed each other. Like a shooting star...Jim.
My friend in high school showed me them for the first time. It was the song Touch Me and he sang the little weird blips in the intro too. He ended up dying in a motorcycle accident. I'm so grateful he showed me them.
Sweety
51 years ago.god bless ya Jim
The doors r the best band ever to grace this planet...thank u boys
💯
My favorite band hands down they were all genius. I was 8 wen jim died my sister 17 came home so pissed off about it she lit incence and candles in his honor he was her fav too. I still smell that incence hated it she played them every day for weeks it seemed. I wore my doors shirt in high school till you couldn't make out wat it said.THE DOORS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!
Soul Rock and Spirit Music
fuckin groovy whoooooooo!!!!!!
I was the same age as your sister in 1970 and like her, I was both sad and angry when I found out he had died.
😭 thanks for the perspective
💯
Amazing how they could take a blues song and make it into a psychedelic experience while still respecting the song and it's original performers.
Yep. I'm not a fan of traditional blues, unless it's done by The DOORS!
The Doors made it their own way but better
@@Emersonlakeorpalmer U can certainly say that AGAIN !! 😺 😺
You know Elvis did this right
So well worked it must of been a privilege to see its creation in a studio
Good to see Mary included in the video, as she was one of the most important (and positive) influences on Jim's life. Seemingly, he never got over her as he continued to sing Away in India, long after they were no longer a couple (I'm especially thinking of the Isle of Wight concert in 1970).
The doors are one of the things that were meant to come together in life. They are amazing.
On a musical and humane level, yes.
Oh yer. Well said
Been a massive DOORS fan as long as I can remember , but I have never heard this material before , FANTASTIC .
You've got to love his band. He couldn't have done it without them.
We do...
AGREED 100%!!! All TOGETHER they made a Diamond!
Ray was the glue baby
Yup. they each brought something special to the thing that became the Doors. It was greater than the sum of its parts.
As well as they couldn't have done it without him. The Doors was something that the Universe itself had decided that it will happen and it did. The four of them together is magic take just any one of them away and the magic is gone. As simple as that.
Oh yea baby!!! Nasa didn't take us to outerspace, the Doors did!!!!
and beyond!!
Enlightened😁😁😁
@Richard Montano soooooo kewl..Jimmy =way way ahead of his time
@@kennethcrane9848 love my fellow Doors fans..WE rule this hear Universe
I remain Meagerfood4souls4got
Jim was Highly intelligent!!
IQ 146
@@stacyblue1980 I thought in Ray's book he said Jim's IQ was 149? Just asking. Because Ray said his wife Dorothys IQ was 151. I thought he said that Jim & specifically Dorothys IQ's were the highest he'd ever seen personally?
Does it really matter..jim could still sing if he was thick as shit
@@coycoberly4162 you are correct
Except for when it came to partying and healthy living
Love their live covers of "Who do you love" and "Gloria", as well.
There covers were the best covers ever
Most amazing and unique band of all time. Every song is a journey an event
💯
That singer baby is none other than the great late Jim Morrison. There has never been another like him.
The Doors. Jim Morrison. The greatest band/lead singer of ALL TIME!! Seriously, how do you go from yelling like madman to the soft silky last line..well I woke up this morning....nothing...on my mind.
The best way to pay homage to Jim is to love your neighbor and have a good time!
Back door man kinda neighbor ❤😂
Thanks for putting this on the channel much appreciated
le meilleur chanteur des sixties.
Jim Morrison has SOUL..
Had soul. He gave it all up in a Paris bathtub.
FirstUsedBooks so they say
@@FirstUsedBooks I am not sure of anything pertaining to Jimmy or Pamela. I am sure that I love them... I remain Meagerfood4souls4got..
AMAZING!!! This band truly were and still are something else, one of a kind.
An excellent blues song by a great band.
The music of the doors is covered less than any of the great bands of this period (Dylan, Beatles, even Hendrix & so on) thats because they are truly none of a kind. Can't imagine where we could've been taken by these amazing musicians had things been different. R.I.P
I remember when I was 13 years old when I heard my first song!! It was shocking I said WoW who is this guy? But I immediately fell in love. His voice is hypnotic man I just love his music. Rest in peace Jim we all love you bye.

another unknown to me hidden gem by my fav band, thank you rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still have chills down my spine... Watching an active spur in action last night at the second level of Blommer Chocolate in downtown Chicago. The Doors are my favorite band... When leaving as I start the car the song is 2 minutes into the song on Deep Tracks. Jim Ladd had this on for the last song of his shift. I drove 20 miles to look at the old CNW tracks in Chicago and had this blasting heading home. Unbelievable!
glad The Doors got the tape machine loaded up, these 1970 shows are amazing...it boggles my mind to think that Robbie, John, and Jim were still in their 20's...
I often think this aswell! 👍
An don't forget ray!! r.i.p✌
I know just kids.....
@@p.b.palaciosalmafuerte3463 yeah he was 30 or so by that time

I love the doors😀😀😀 and have done so, for 35 years
Yeah! Ray was EPIC!
been Doors fan since freshman in H.S and had never heard this magnificent song.nice👍
I grew up with the Psychedelic Music of the 60's and have always had a special Place in my Heart for the soft Sound and the spiritual Sweetness of Jim Morrison, as he and his Crew opened up The Doors of Perception; yet, somehow it took me more than half a Century to discover this Recording!
Never heard this song. Love the Doors. Been a fan since 1968. Thanks for posting this.
John Densmore a fera da batera - The Doors para sempre e sempre!!!
Where would we be with doors, cold and unprotected from the winds, intruders, bad weather, driving snow, Jim Morrision and all the boys in his band solved all those problems. The masters and their works. dont this hit you right down in your soul, this is eques to any great master painting of long ago. is sheer beauty cannot be beaten
Right into the soul for sure. They get me through many a night and day
@@Spicuzza568 Thank you, what a beautyfull and wise man Jim Morrision was, what a most brillint man were the Doors, ever sing man in this band was/are very specila people, we could do with a few more like those boys.
Real good music

It's Manzarek who puts it where he wants it, and keeps it together.
One of My all time favorite versions
I was 16 when I first heard this now 40 good god the drugs and memeries
Astonishing piece of work what a privilege it must of been to see performed live, shame it didn't figure on any of their albums.
I was at the Arena 45th and Mkt Saw Doors 4 the 1st time. Again I saw them at the PHILADELPHIA SPECTRUM 5 1 70
@@jackypatterson4139 wow how lucky are you i was born 74 so to late but have loved the doors for 30ish years now
People either generally want "ear candy" when they buy music, OR...Someone else determines for whatever reason(s) what you're going to hear. Why THIS song never made any of their albums, I don't know...It's got enough "ear candy" for me...I confess I never heard this until I stumbled on to this KZhead video.
@@jebidiahnewkedkracker1801 it sounds like a medley of cover versions but not been able to determine by who, in any case its fuckin magic and there to enjoy anytime
@@jebidiahnewkedkracker1801 I've been a dedicated Doors fan since 1969 when I was 12 years old. I can't believe I never heard this until today when I, too, stumbled upon it on KZhead. How lucky for me to finally have found it. 😊
I'm à doors fiend, but what train song...super cool...
Love my Doors
I read No one here gets out alive” in eighth grade in my biology class. That’s when I yelled out Yes! That’s when I found out that I was born on Morrison’s birthday!!!
Nice ,loved it
This live version is hot😊😊😊😊
Ray Manzerek was the backbone of the doors. He was older and more mature
the audeince is priceless ....they pick up on the song and that one girl shouts out ""yes yea yes yes Traaaaain!!!..you gonna play it? play it, play it.....!"
THE DOORS-- THE DOORS, BRAVO, BRAVO.
This song is a Trip !!
He is a god😁😁😁
YEAH MAN GREAT SONG! MYSTERY TRAIN / YA DON'T NEED A TICKET JUST CLIMB ON BOARD EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT FINE 🌞
yeahhh, you've arrived here! it's really good to feel the depths of poetry in sounds form, right? thanks a lot for posting! The Doors is still alive!
I never realized the Doors ever performed this song until just this year and I've been listening to them since I was a kid! I'm 55 years old. Take a listen to the version from live in Pittsburgh - I absolutely love it. That whole performance has a different vibe than the rest of the shows from the 70's. It was in a smaller venue so the acoustcs are great and really compliment the band's style. Plus, Morrison sounds like he's having fun and the band is very tight. One of my favorite live performances of any band.
Scott Peterson where can i find the Pittsburgh version?
Patric G I ordered the cd on amazon. It's the May 2, 1970 Pittsburgh show. Great performance.
Scott Peterson I never knew and I drank a lot of beer to his stuff growing up COOL SONG
Thank you for sharing, I love the doors!
Is it the live performance because I'm watching it now on here and it's just pictures?
Hello Doors fans whatever I love Jim Morrison ok so a head of his time he was a poet before a singer he made his mark in my life Peace Jim live on in my soul see on the other side R I. P. No pain 🎶🎵🎼🎤

So good!
Sounds like s train. That is what I love about it...the instrumentation and vocals..
Master piece. If it were a painting ....all the Doors ,an incredible live sound. James Douglas Morrison....aka Jim Morrison..aka genius...aka the lizard king...aka anagram = Jim Morrison = mr mojo risin = La women. This song provides the intro, the noise, the angry chorus and then the unbelievable last words. I love the Doors. 2 remain.john and Robbie. Come to Australia and do something, please. Cheers Andy
The hours pooled, congealed and marroon, Footprints stain the one track mind A stilletoe spiked the nights ' last call Cloaked in sillence she drank alone. Her laced stare poisoned the room, Metalic air ribboned a nicotine dawn A thousand men she spent on wine Empty veselles distilled of life Alone she walked the morning home
Iove the doors
I confess as a Doors fan, I have never heard this--makes me wonder what else of theirs I never heard? Loved the pictures...Though many of them I have seen before....I really like the one of Jim at 4:51 because of his facial expression--- it "says" (to me)...."You REALLY want to know more?!? You REALLY think you can handle the truth...I've got more to say than Col. Jessup man...You're lost little girl...Go back to watching A Few Good Men for the umpteenth time..."🤣😱🤯
You might not have heard the dirty version of Gloria. "Wrap your lips around my cock. Wrap your legs around my head. I'm going to eat you baby." It was performed live. You can google and find it.
@@FirstUsedBooks Yes, I have heard the dirty version of Gloria. But I am wondering what other music of The Doors I haven't heard....How many other songs did they record that never made it onto any of their albums???
