I listened to this song last year, I was knowing this lady that will be my love of life this coming October, she kept building walls every time I got near. Last night she finally said yes and I remembered this song from last June and the walls I have had to climb over. Oh great virtual acquaintances, come and see me get to her secret garden and may you all get love wherever you go. Much love from Ngong Hill's, Nairobi.

I see it as a painful song. It was born out of experience. A man loving a woman and she was just unable to allow him access to the most intimate feelings that see possess. Sex was not withheld and neither was companionship. What she was unable to give up was all the hurt, pain, passions, hopes, dreams and the rest of the best stuff. He was not the one she could entrust them too. If you have ever had a love like this; they are the most painful ones. For you know that every things that you need, will stay a million miles away. Great song expressing perfectly the sound of a breaking heart.

@kimsellers16962 жыл бұрын
I'm writing a book going back to the 80's. About the innocence of a little girl's first year in high school where she meets the love of her only to be rejected cruelly by him a year later! 33 years later they run into each other. He falls in love with her all over again, but it's painfully tough for him to get back in and for her to let him back. This is perfect!

@jlkohlwey Жыл бұрын
While you're interpretation is sweet, romantic and thoughtful. Bruce said it's about someone entirely emotionally unavailable,, not a happy song.I believe he said it was about his first wife before Patty. He wrote the song well before it was released in 94. Her "secret garden" is everything he wants and needs in that relationship, yet it will "always stay a million miles away". They divorced. He found Patti who gave him her all and was always emotionally available to him and they sang together. His type of partner. Another thing is to think on the line "you've gone a million miles, how far did you get, that place where you can't remember and you can't forget"... "you" being himself. He's saying that he's going in circles with her, not getting anywhere.

100% mate the first note is so good im telllin you
He was Humble winning a Oscar for "The Street's of Philadelphia". I met Him in N.J and briefly talked to Him. He was ever so Sweet!!
That's what the Boss does; he breaks ho's... With gree.
And the big man taught the little man DAMN well!
There is something about this song which still makes me believe in the existence of love in this era of situationship.
How time flies ... the best decade, the 90s. I was 25 in 1996, now I'm 50. If we could go back in time ...
Yes, if we!!! Powerful words!
So help me god , thank you for Bruce Springsteen his songs are fantastic.
So help me god😍
This is possibly the best ever song
Still can't stop listening to this version...
My favorite song by Bruce. I miss my friend Clarence so much. RIp.
God that Saxophone solo really gets to me... I cant listen to it enough!!!
I used to play this song all the time when I broke up with the mother of my children, and 17 year love of my life. I cried so much..but this track is cathartic. RIP. Clarence Clemons. 🎼❤️🙏🎼
One of humanity's great songs that can be played over and over, never to tire of either. In 100 years this song will still be relevant, I promise you.
Ich liebe diesen Song
I love Bruce bringsten.

This is imortality BRUCE SONGS...❤ FOR EVER! REMEMBER GREAT MEMORIES ! THANKS FOR GREAT SONGS BOSS !
Thanks and congrats on your love
God that saxophone will bring the chills
So true! It just takes you somewhere, a level that just fills you up.
Right!!!
ABSOLUTELY...❤ THAT SAXOPHONE
Jake can play that thing just as sweet as Clarence ever did
It sure does. The one Sax player of Phil Collins band is also great. Oh & Alto (RIP) from Bob Seger's was GREAT. HE HAD About 12 of them. To My Surprise the lights went out and there was Alto right next to Me (on the steps) blasting the first notes. Amazing.
One of the most underrated songs ever
Agree it’s beautiful
There are very few moments of perfection in a lifetime. This is one of them. Thank you, Bruce, for all the memories you've created over the years.
And load out by jackson brown
Yup ❤
I hear this song EVERYDAY . More than 10 times a day. This song remember my mom who passed away a long time ago. She loved Bruce Springsteen so much and i miss her everyday in my life.
Robson Ferretti ....my condolences. This IS truly a beautiful song... One of those songs that can never be duplicated....
Mom is and always will be the smile in my heat. I love music it has a way of reaching deep inside and making your heart come alive, just like does.
Bealtiful robson
My mum passed away recently and she was a big fan of Bruce, as am I and my daughter, her only grand daughter; three generations of Bruce fans here in dear old Blighty. Mum wants "If I Should Fall Behind" by the Boss played at her funeral in a fortnight's time and despite other people's wishes for a bunch of religious stuff she didn't believe in, it will be.
Your words have made me cry ... a rose for your beautiful mother
As I look at my wife sleeping I only love her more as I listen to this and realize she’s allowed me into her secret garden ...... I’m a lucky soul and thank you BS for writing this
one cold day the good lord will call, no do not worry as one day u will fine solace in ur garden, we will all rise! ur lucky u know
BS???
the secret garden is at prospect cemetery,, once u see it, u will be floored,, it has two horizons, two rainbows, a sight to behold, used to call it the festival of lights, there, they put all the elemets together,, wind, sun, rain, earth, the moon, even lined it up with true north, Polaris>3 Toronto Ontario Canada, wow now that's planning,
Badass comment, I feel the same way when I look at my wife.
That’s good 👍
This song was part of our wedding day. I couldn't love it more.
What a Beautiful Moment and Memory ❤️
Bruce has been there through the highs and lows of my life. Keep on a rocking Man.

Ladies and Gentlemen!... THE BOSS!!...
I love this soooooo much
Oh, the memories...what a beautiful song!!❤ Heard it in Jerry Maguire and was moved forever by it
This is a song that you have to allow time to stop and listen and appreciate every word, note and instrument, it's a masterpiece. Thanks Bruce, for everything.
Agree
I miss my beautiful Mom every minute of every day😍
Damn, what a phenomenal songwriter
The Depth of this Song… I Hear Every Word and Feel Every Emotion that He Sings… I could never put this together … He does it so well… That’s why I love him so ❤️
This song hits you deep inside your being❤
My favorite song from this band
Love love LOVE this song...Can't believe he dont sing this st every show. It's been on repeat lately

There's Bruce....then there's everyone else.....
This song....no frills....no theatrics....it grabs you and doesn't let go.
To me, this man is the most gifted musician since Beethoven. We are so blessed that he has chosen to share his talent with us.
These songs of 90s are so beautiful ,I hear them in 2017 and i feel sad that we dont have such songs anymore. We have lost the art of portraying love through songs and movies!
I never hear good r&b love songs anymore. All I hear is rap. Which all sounds the same. There are no Boyz 2 men, or blackstreet, all4one anymore. It's sad.
@@allfacts19 WE DON´T HAVE MORE LOVE SONGS :(
I’m hearing in 2023 need to hear more
I think Bruce's best song. underrated song 4 sure. Simply beautiful and relatable to all the romantics that put their guards up.❤
we all need a bruce in our lives, what an amazing performance😍
The Greatest Songwriter Ever.
the way Bruce let's the sax be the end, WOW!
Happened to have Jerry Maguire on TV tonight and this song came on...brought me back to hearing this amazing song back when I was a teenager and loving it so much. Had it on repeat on my dinky mp3 player, and finding it again tonight has given me goosebumps all over again. Thank you Boss for such a wonderful masterpiece!!
So well said! Definitely a goosebump song!
This song is very much underrated. Definitely should be played more on the radio. I have had this on repeat since yesterday afternoon both this version and the album version on my music app
I have been to many of Bruce's concerts💕😍😘💟💞
This masterpiece triggers a deep emotional response for the ones that have experienced and understand the true meaning of the beautiful, touching lyrics! Thank you Boss!
Another Bruce Masterpiece
Well said my friend
It's interesting you say that because I watched Jerry Maguire and when this song came on I was brought to tears.
Definitely triggers a deep emotional response but it's not a happy song. It's about an emotionally unavailable woman. He asked himself. "You've gone a million miles, how far did you get? That place where you can't remember and you can't forget" He's gotten nowhere with her emotionally 😢
@@drliz6783 Yup, you nailed it!
Bruce ya need to play this more often at your shows
One of the most moving songs ever written ...... a man who understands a woman, a gift :-)
Anna Shanley isn’t he singing about how he can never understand a woman?
Its rude as hell
I love u, oh yes,boss man
True
Awesome song. Cudos to the Big Man's Nephew on Sax.
I grew up listening to this beautiful song and awesome artist. Bruce is not just a great artist, but one hell of a guy. His songs really hit home and he always nails it every time. Rock on Bruce.
SO TRUE
I think he’s a prick but he makes good music
Love this song ❤❤❤❤
No words to explain how I feel... No icons .. Pure ecstasy...
JUST ONE OF THOSE SONGS THAT TAKE ONES BREATH AWAY . BEYOND BEAUTIFUL. .
I wish there was a love button.

what sound and arrangements, this song takes me in an other world!
Brings tears in a grown mans eyes.. absolutely stunningly beautiful❤️
Brings tears to women's eyes as well!
I'm one of them
Same here…
My favourite Bruce's song.
In loving memory of the great Clarence Clemons! We never, never forget you!
This song is timeless. It could’ve been written 40 years ago, or 20 years from now. The band is right on. Bruce nails every song he sings!!
Just like every other song that this special human being has written, lyrics become profoundly clear with life experiences ❤
Couldn't make this show in my home town due to surgery. But see you at Murrayfield in May 2023.
I don't know why but I feel like this is the most humble song ever written.
I had a secret garden once. It was beautiful..like you.
THIS IS HOW GOOD MUSIC CAN BE!!!!!
This is my favorite song !!!
When he plays this song he's looks like a hero
He IS a hero, my friend :')
Yes he does
Bruce simplemente con tu forma de interpretar las melodias confirmas que heres el jefe por mucho animo
This live is a masterpiece, never founded a better version of that song. That sax at the end is played so well, and the other voices than Bruce, done so well
I see it as a painful song.
THAT IS WHY YOU HAVE MICK AND KEITH TO SAY A LOT OF WOMAN ARE SLEAZE BAGS
You sound like me My own kids said this song is about me!
Yeah I know that lady lol
Steve Watts wow that was the perfect interpretation of the song.. and yes it is the most painful thing to have... someone you love so deeply but can never love you the same way...
Will said sir!
Bruce discography is like some bottomless treasure chest...he can pick some songs once in a while, almost randomly...and are always timeless classics!
Al say
I COULD NEVER see Bruce in concert and l will not see it, but his timeless songs l take with me Wherever l go
Why not, Silvana? 🤷♂️@@silvanabanks5221
Only Bruce knows what this song is really about and he is keeping it in his secret garden
He said its about a woman who was emotionally unavailable. She gives him the everyday things you'd give in a relationship, except her soul. That's what he needs. Believe it was about his first wife before Patti.
@@drliz6783 You may just be right.
@@drliz6783wow that’s beautiful words there
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! It's a shame relationships today are by far different than the good ole Bruce Springsteen days! I hope those days will return. My best days were in the 80's.
Congrats on ur book.. Great song.. Simply beautiful..
Have you published it? How is it going?!
What a song.. so many years of hearing.. but it simply leaves you mesmerised... hearing to this song makes you feel that God has let out some of his secrets...
I love hearing this recording 💖 I play it àll the time secret garden 🏡
I would hear this song on the radio from time to time when I was younger, could never figure out who sang it. I hadn't heard the song in a long time then I found the greatest hits cd he released in Walmart back in 2003, purchased it started listening to bits and pieces then came to the song, immediately knew the song almost started screaming. So now I have it in my phone in my Amazon music ap
This is a beautifully written masterpiece. A song written about the very secret gift we can give to someone else.... which is offering your heart and soul with no restriction. It is an act of allowing your heart to rejoin with its counterpart...
Her secret garden is something she wont share. She's not emotionally available to him. He wants her heart not all the other things he sings of.
@@drliz6783 I understand your interpretation clearly and there is no disagreement. It is all in the lens you choose to view through... TY for sharing..
My favourite song of his, right up to the end of the beautiful sax solo. Amazing!
It’s the song. That just seeps into every part of your being and will never leave. You. And that’s a really good thing. Thank you so much.
You guys absolutely knocked this one out of the park!
The string version takes the song to another level. Absolutely beautiful and very emotional ❤
In the 70s I heard Bruce in my brothers V.W ,Never got it .Now I am 55 and his music touches deep inside my soul... Bless you friends
What a performance...what a mindblowing intensity, expression and spectrum. Two incredible voices, two guitars...melting as one. Out of this world ❤
So I just listened to this song well this particular version and video. I lost it once the song started...I couldn't stop crying...
OMG!! THAT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!! Whenever someone asks me to open up to them more, I play them this song. One of my very favorites from my lifes soundtrack!
Ditto;-)
Immortal song never gets old, still my go to music sitting with a cup of coffee
What a simple and beautiful song. Us guys can recognize that there is always something deep and hidden in the women we love, and I am sure it is that way for women with their men as well. Springsteen has written so many classic songs and some like this are simply masterpieces.
WELL PUT. LOVE YOUR AVATAR
Yes agree
This is what music is about. When you listen to a song, it seems like is was written specially for you. There is no border for a good music. Nobody can build a wall for it. it does not matter where you are from Africa, Asia, Europe or America the feeling is the same.
Magic, just magic. Thank you for so much Bruce Springsteen.
Brillient Brillient, love it when Bruce sings like this, a pure master
Truly is a brilliant masterpiece. I think his most beautiful song ever. And has a lot of them
Let me put my pence. Totally agree, the composition is the one of the best piece
I agree with you 100% what a guy!
Lovely song
Literally have this song on repeat. ♥️♥️♥️
Piękny.
This is the most beautiful music I've ever heard
I recently lost my mother due to a cancer... she battled so hard even if she knew it was a lost battle...for her but not for us... so she could spend more quality time her kids and grandchildren... and this song takes all its sense... I accompanied her all through the last days and saw her body and mind fade away... until she also realised that she could not fight no more and that she was physically not her herself anymore..
Demit
Thank you for this gift, Bruce Springsteen
This song said it all Bruce, thank you.
U could never get enough of that sax solo at the end. Still have goosebumps everytime i hear it
A timeless masterpiece!
One of the absolute best renditions of this song ever. Beautiful.
"Secret Garden" She'll let you in her house If you come knockin' late at night She'll let you in her mouth If the words you say are right If you pay the price She'll let you deep inside But there's a secret garden she hides She'll let you in her car To go drivin' 'round She'll let you into the parts of herself That'll bring you down She'll let you in her heart If you got a hammer and a vice But into her secret garden, don't think twice You've gone a million miles How far'd you get To that place where you can't remember And you can't forget She'll lead you down a path There'll be tenderness in the air She'll let you come just far enough So you know she's really there Then she'll look at you and smile And her eyes will say She's got a secret garden Where everything you want Where everything you need Will always stay A million miles away
And I know someone exactly like that...
Thanks
thanks 🙏
