The only reason he didn't is because Melissa showed up. The showrunners really had a problem with letting predators get away with their crimes.

honestly its so sloppy to have most of the questions answered via Marlene completely off the show. It shows that they didn't actually plan anything lol.
Or it shows they planned it that way so every week, millions of teenage girls had to log in to twitter to watch and follow along while tweeting Marlene. Looking back at how she strung us along and made it so you only knew everything IF you followed her and saw all her tweets and watched all her interviews…it’s weird.
Honestly though and it’s clear that they probably wanted someone else for A than Cece. Maybe Ezra or Aria. But bc they successfully groomed the audience into thinking they are cute, the ship couldn’t be destroyed anymore xD I mean why else would you take Ezra who was quickly arrested in the books and make him that. But then again they did the same with Toby and Jenna (switched their roles in that sibling thing😨, so that Toby can become a LI)
I always thought Wilden was trying hard to pin Ali’s murder on the girls so nobody would ever find out it was a cover up. He would have been over if anyone found out he did so.

This show could've been superb with just 4 seasons consisting of 12 episodes each. The mystery premise of the show is too damn good.

a plot hole that just don’t make sense to me is the fact that cece and bethany as kids kills marion and in a flashback toby and alison as teenagers interact with live marion. like??? toby and alison are younger than cece, how marion dies when toby is a teenager if Cece was still a child???
that was just the writers messing up. Chronologically that is impossible, considering they pay Wilden off to rule it a suicide and Wilden/Cece are almost the same age 🤣

In the US you can legally buy a gun even if ur legally blind, plus there’s tons of ways to get a gun under the table, so it’s totally plausible that Jenna could buy a gun as a blind teenage
One of the things that bugged me was how did Cece have a great sisterly relationship with Alex but hated Spencer? And also why did Alex hate Spencer and wanted to be her when she hadn't even met her and surely Cece didn't talk wonders about Spencer and the girls, she hated them? The entire idea or Spencer's twin made no sense to me.
she explains to alison she hates the girls because of how they acted when she had “died” but she never really hated them she just liked toying with them it was fun for her. with alex i mean it makes sense her twin got everything she never got and she felt like spencer was ungrateful and that actually she deserved it. spencer grew up in a wealthy family and alex was working in a bar at 18

I feel like a lot of us figured out the endings and they changed it to keep us guessing. They ended up messing it up😔 us figuring it out doesn’t mean it was bad..
Anyone who has been in an anatomy class or a lab which handles cadavers would still have a million questions after you answered the first plot hole. A cadaver is veryyy different from a freshly deceased person’s body. And if law enforcement can’t differentiate between these two then idk what to tell you except that 50% of the plot holes can be written off to incompetent police. 😂
As a trans person, I think that Cece was just using her previous identity to lengthen the game, if she had set them up to find her direct identity it would’ve ended the game sooner and she was obviously obsessed with the game, finding out who Charles “really was” was just another step for her to add to mess with the liars (also I’m pretty sure the writers weren’t really consulting actual trans people while making this storyline they just made Cece trans as a like “ooh wouldn’t this be a cool twist”)
The sad thing Darren wilden is not even the only predator police officer in that town and show 😭🤡 The girls can’t catch a break, either it’s their teacher or it’s one of the police officers 🤦🏽♀️ oh and let’s not forget Melissa’s boyfriends 😅

I think in terms of Cece using the name Charles in the doll house, I think it was either the writers didn't know who A was going to be yet so they ke[t it general because even when A was Mona, it never looked like a "girl" when the liars caught a glimpse of A(Mona). Cece could have also done this so they wouldn't suspect her bc as soon as it was presumed to be male they only suspected males even thought before the dollhouse they had their suspensions of her.

I think it was implied that alison hid the earring in the couch to push aria over the edge and then destroying her dads study because she just loved chaos and drama 🤷♀️

A relatively simple way to explain many plot holes and plot motives of numerous characters is to realize that many of the characters are out of their minds and completely crazy: Melissa, Shana, Jenna, Noel Kahn, Sara Harvey, Jessica, Wren...I mean the list is endless. The actions of all these characters can't be explained with logical common sense😂 they just don’t act like normal people.

I've been rewatching this week, and I honestly don't understand how this show was so "addictive " & "captivating" ... it's just messy and chaotic, and definitely not as clever as it's making out. Not when I have way more questions than answers after each episode. Plus this show was to dated to be so out of date, like wasn't EVERY single think A sent via electronic communication or written, which can both be tracked. Plus they never use their phones to do anything when it comes to backing their stories/experiences for evidence. Just why😂

As a trans PLL fan, they absolutely botched the Charlotte storyline. First off, Marlene told us many times she wasn’t going to do a trans storyline, which made it feel like a cheap “gotcha” when they said sike and followed through with that plot anyways. To answer first about this specific question of why the name Charles is being used by Charlotte and why she was wearing a suit, I think it being Noel is actually the best, if not most likely, explanation. Most trans people and especially those who have faced as much trauma as Charlotte would hate reassuming that name. Unfortunately the writers likely were just sloppy and insensitive and knew it was easier to hold the audience in disbelief by making her act this way. This show played into a very tired trope of the villain being secretly trans/queer. You can find it time and time again in media where villians are queercoded or the villian of the week in serialized dramas turn out to be “perverted” aka lgbtq. Add to it the fact that Charlotte was of course played by a cis actress, and was pretty clearly not originally conceived as A means that it just played so in authentically. How could her actress really portray the role in the first couple seasons when she herself not only didn’t have the experience of a trans person, but didn’t even know her character was trans until likely very late. By making the big bad at the time a trans woman it really made me sick. They tried to humanize her by making us sympathize, and that couldddd have worked if in hindsite her actions were forgivable or harmless, but she put people in serious danger and caused deep psychological trauma to others making it very hard to make us care about the pain she went through. And what really put the nail in the coffin for me was what could have been. Seeing an episode of Allison protecting Charlotte and trying to see her redeem herself, I was actually slightly hopeful the show could atone for their sins, by letting her actress play a trans character when both her and the audience knew, allowing a more fleshed out characterization. Also by having an out trans character on the show it allowed them to tell deeper stories related to that and write from her perspective. It also could have been great to see her get redemption, at least a small amount. So I’ll tell you, seeing that potential to see Charlotte as an out trans woman with the chance to fix her storyline, and watching her die immediately, it was unbelievable. Not only did they mess up her character in so many ways, they kill her off instead of trying to write a decent enough story to make up for the past ickiness. They made the villain trans and before we had a chance to care about her they kill her.
i stopped watching the show after the episode that was revealed because it made me so mad, only finished the series recently despite watching it in real time until then 🥴
Before I watch the video, I must say that a lot of things people refer to as "plot holes" I don't get. Maybe it's just because seasons 4 and 5 are the seasons I rewatch the most, but I feel like I've found an answer to almost everything people say. EDIT: 1:51 I never questioned where A got a cadaver because I also wouldn't question where A got a cow tongue. But I guess since cows are anonymous, and humans are... not, people would wonder if A actually killed someone just for this. But I never thought that. 5:00 There _is_ an answer given for this, but the _way_ it's answered is really weird. Hanna's nightmare makes it seems like her imagination is going out of control, but then the Liars talk about it as if they already knew. But why would Hanna dream about Ali telling them something she must have already told? idk dream logic. In S1, it's left ambiguous whether Ali or Ian pushed the girl, and S4 acts like everyone thinks it was Ali, but since it was never "confirmed", I guess it left room to put Noel in. 6:20 There's an ongoing motif throughout the series with Jenna and guns, starting in S2 where Spencer says Jenna will be able to aim a gun if she can see again. S7 is the big payoff to that. 7:05 It is Wilden, but it's again confirmed in a non-conventional way. By the time Aria finds out that Ezra is Board Shorts, it's still assumed that Beach Hottie and Board Shorts are the same person. But since we find out that Ezra and Ali never had sex (thankfully), we're supposed to go "Oh, so Wilden was Beach Hottie after all". 7:33 It's Cece, and I thought it was pretty straightforward. When Spencer asks "Ali" (or rather, her vision of Ali) if it was Toby, "Ali" says "Girls fight dirtier than boys." Immediately after this, Spencer finds Cece's fake visitor's pass, and Wren tells her "Alison pulled some stunt in a frat party they got CeCe kicked out of University." For the next 13 episodes, the Liars (correctly) think that Cece is A/Red Coat. They only get misdirected when they find her name on Ezra's payroll. 12:20 Wait, when was it said that Bethany or Cece had a duplicate Ali bracelet? I don't think that Jessica giving Cece the same clothes as Ali included that. 14:37 To repost what I commented on the Ravenswood video: I love this idea, and what's great is that both Troian and Marlene have expressed interest in the same thing -- Troian when she guested on the Bros Watch PLL podcast (the first time, right before S6 started airing), and Marlene in a Reddit AMA the night S5 started airing. 19:15 You're right, but I think it's funny how Cece lied to her roommate by saying she was going to LA after "dropping out", when she was actually going back to Radley. And she lied that she was still paying rent lol 21:48 Cece said (in her "reveal" episode) that Mona helped her get discharged from Radley. Makes sense to me. 27:30 I mean, if we're not gonna question how Ian, Garret, and Jason snuck the NAT club in, I wouldn't question this... except I never went to prom, so I don't know how it works. Do the Prom king and queen _have_ to be a couple? If Jason took Cece and was voted king, does Cece become queen by default? 28:31 Well, if they grew up apart so much, it would be hard for Cece to view him as her sibling. At least she had the sense to resist any sex. 30:46 You're right, he didn't know, but I think Wilden considered it. In S1, he thinks the Liars "know" who killed Ali. Meaning if it wasn't any of them, they probably know it's Cece given they were nearby. In S5, it's revealed that Jessica gave a statement to Wilden that she saw Spencer with a blond girl, but A (Cece) payed him to bury the statement and keep Jessica quiet using her affair with Bethany's father as blackmail. There's also the fact that Wilden also needed to hide his own involvement in that night. 32:11 You provide good explanations, but I genuinely think the only reason why this is asked so much is that people were/are hung up on the idea that Aria is/was supposed to be A. Maybe I don't get it bc I only watched the show last year, I wasn't along for the ride. 34:29 In the third episode, Hanna says that Wilden was in the class of 96, meaning he's 32 when the Liars start their junior year in S1. In S4, in what I'm guessing was a misguided shoutout to the books, they say Melissa and Wilden went to high school together, and then the writers belatedly remember that they made Wilden older. 37:37 Wait, I thought A (Mona) made the fake bracelet in the woods and gave the real one to the police? Also, I rewatched the scene where Jason gives it to them, and they don't say Bethany was wearing it. J: "Alison was wearing it." H: "Wait, you mean when they found her?" and then Jason dodges the question. 38:16 What Jason saw was Melissa burying Bethany. He hallucinated that as Melissa talking to Cece, thinking that must mean Cece was wearing the same clothes as Ali. 47:56 Wasn't there a map? 53:41 Because Ali and Jason somehow never learned their mom's maiden name lol 55:09 Shana set the fire, not Wilden, ruining Cece's plan. Wilden was killed around the same time, so the Liars didn't have an alibi, since they couldn't reveal they were at the lodge. The only thing I'm confused about is why Spencer lured Jenna there. I think there was going to be more with Jenna knowing Ali's alive and manipulating Nigel, but her actress was pregnant during filming of S4. 57:14 Well, we know A likes hurting the Liars' partners and framing whoever they're suspecting at any given time. But the self-defense link is actually really clever on your part. 58:48 Because she lied. She straight-up gave him this whole tale of seeing Ali and Spencer fight and Jessica paying her to keep quiet. And yeah, Ali lied about being Cece's roommate. 1:06:08 Well, it's worth pointing out exactly what was said "I get a phone call this afternoon, 'We have your daughter here,' they tell me, 'We think she might be a danger to herself, she wants to stay here.'" Notice specifically "your daughter". 1:07:44 Cece can do whatever she wants, but what I'd like know is why did the Liars assume A put the blocks like that? Wouldn't it make more sense to assume it was Mona? Does that mean A really did put the anagrams in Mona's mirror? If it was A, well, Cece was obsessed with nostalgia, so she probably put the blocks like that to resemble her old room. 1:14:42 I wonder less HOW they met and more WHEN they met. Must have been on one of Cece's "sneaking out of Radley" trips 1:15:55 The Carissimi Group? 1:23:12 I'm more confused why he disappeared when he said he'd meet Ezra 1:24:59 The shovel was A (Mona), Garret just let Jenna believe it was him 1:27:10 The flashback to this in S7 expands on this scene and confirms it was Mary 1:29:40 Melissa told Spencer she was trying to protect her and sent Jenna and Shana to find out who the Liars were meeting 1:31:31 I don't know why they changed this at the last second. 2x13, 4x1, and 4x16 all imply/state it was in 2007. My best guess is that they wanted to incorporate it smoothly as a part of Cece's backstory rather than just have Cece tell it as a random aside... and the best way to do that is to retcon it to be way further back than established? idk. If I'm right, then it probably would've been revealed another way if S6 was the last season and it ended with the Cece reveal. 1:35:54 EVERYONE thought Garrett killed Maya, even Mona (Miss Aria You're A Killer Not Ezra's Wife). Everyone in Rosewood agreed that Maya must have found something that connected Alison to Garrett, and that Garrett killed her because she was on her way to give it to Emily. Nobody except Jenna (who witnessed it and pretended her surgery didn't work to protect herself) and CeCe (who ig was on one of her regular "sneaking out of Radley" trips that night) knew that Lyndon was Maya's real killer. 1:39:01 Ali blackmailing Cyrus makes sense, and I guess A (Cece) just stole Spencer's recording for the lulz, but I'm still confused what Melissa had to do with that 1:41:24 If the entire rest of the series didn't make it clear that police are useless, Holbrook claiming he was "up to his holster" in "all things Cece Drake" and not actually finding anything about her definitely should I'm not sure if this was ever mentioned in the video, but I'm certain Jessica purposely identified Bethany's body as Ali. It's confirmed in S7 that she knew Ali was alive, and in S5, Veronica tells Spencer that about a week after Ali's disappearance, Jessica stormed up to them and accused Spencer of having something to do with it.

It was confirmed it was Mary Drake creeping in Spencer's room, not Jessica. Mary knew she was her daughter and snuck in to see her. I believe this was the same night Mary killed Jessica and she figured she'd stop by while she was already next door 😂 I also believe Ren was supposed to be Uber A. I remember these tweets went viral from a supposed 'disgruntled ex employee' who was mad they got fired and blabbed about A being Ren and the back story as to why. Marlene did damage control and tweeted it wasn't true. But then when the show ended and Ren was still involved, I thought it probably was true and they made up the character of Alex Drake last minute to cover for the ending being spoiled. And Ren as Uber A would of been a better ending then what we got and made more sense anyway
The episode where Ali says that Noel pushed the girl, that was in Hanna's dream. That whole part was a dream of Hanna's. But then later in the episode Hanna says we know Noel pushed that girl. But do we know that? Because Hanna dreamt it.

1:15:27 on how Cece and Sarah met, I have a theory: I think Cece did kidnap Sarah, almost like a “practice run” before she kidnapped the girls. I think they mention it at some point, like a police theory, and it kind of makes sense - it would explain the Stockholm syndrome (that we never find out if she was faking it or not, but it had justification enough that actual doctors and therapist testified to it), and treated her like her doll, maybe not always in the dollhouse, but always like that “precious little Ali-like” thing she had, and as Sarah was never really *wanted*or *cared for*, any resemblance of that made her do whatever Cece asked of her, from being the black widow up to actually living in that dollhouse
Rosewood is in Pennsylvania. So Cece's apartment was in Pennsylvania, just not next to UPenn.
I thought the puzzle on the board game was a map? I remember them putting it together and realizing that it was a map and it lead them to where Alex Drake had re-buried Archer Dunhill.
In my high school, there was an entire class for yearbook (where you learned about photography, layout design, photoshop etc) and the students put the contents of the yearbook together. It isn't far-fetched that they could have added CeCe in, but prom usually takes place later in the year than when the yearbook goes to print, so the erroneous mention of CeCe being prom queen wouldn't have contradicted any photos in the actual book. But its about as weird as the yearbook listing N.A.T Club when that club didn't actually exist, so maybe they wrote whatever was self-reported by the students?
There is one plot hole I never see anyone talk about.. if cece was A then who called the police on her?! It shows right before the girls meet up with Ali for the first time in New York at the end of the scene someone in a black hoodie and black gloves looking at a hotel sign in book and seeing CeCe Drake and then calling the rosewood police?! But if CeCe was A why would she call the police on herself for the murder of Wilden??!

The timeline is the most messed up plot hole in the show imo. It frustrates me every time i rewatch it. The fact that they are seniors from the beginning of season 3 and only graduate mid season 6 is INSANE. They go through at least two years of events during those 6 months or so and i can never not think about that.
For Jessica being in Spencer’s room, it was revealed in Season 7 that it was actually Mary trying to get a glimpse of Spencer. It wasn’t Jessica.
Maybe I didn't hear you right, but the person Aria stabbed on the train was later shown to have been Jason. And it was Mary Drake in Spencer's room, there's a whole flashback about that in season 7. Overall, I didn't appreciate half of these being explained as "open to public's interpretation" or literal tweets or interviews explaining what happened, like why not answer that on the actual show??? Amazing job, Lauren, really in depth and everything.

The problem with the shows writing was the writers were more concerned about stumping the fans who guessed correctly what was gonna happen, they had all these balls in the air and ended up dropping them all instead of just catching them!
A lot can happen in 2 years in PLL time haha! Considering season 3 through half of season 5 was done in the matter a few months. So the 2 years Ali was gone would have been cool to see.
the 'Maya knew' thing meant 'Maya knew her killer' This was pretty much explained? along with Mrs. D being in Spencer's room, Mary Drake already confirms it was her and she wanted to see Spencer.
The Cecelia drake in clubs in the yearbook reminds me of cookie and Ned, from Ned's declassified school survival guide, sneaking in club photos during picture day. I also snuck in a club photo in high school. They just give a paper and pass it in order of the people sitting. Line 1 was front, line 2 second row - left to right

They did reveal why Mrs. D was in Spencer's room. It wasnt Mrs. D, it was Mary Drake. There was a whole scene about it. Peter catches her leaving the house, he thinks it's Jessica but it was Mary wanting to see Spencer.
What if Sara was in Radley too and her parents just said she ran away to cover it up because that town is similar to Rosewood when it comes to reputation

Just as someone who knows wards they probably wouldn't see Cece because adults and minors are kept completely separate for safety and proper treatment and at the time of spencers intake she was a minor and they wouldn't have aria work in a adult art class due to the safety issues

one plot hole i never got was that mona got into so many ivy league universities BUT Spencer couldn't get into any and it was blamed on Radley BUT Mona was in there twice and for so much longer than Spencer was but it had no impact on her???
What I never understood was how anyone could tell anything about the body because Alison had been missing for a year before Bethany was dug up so surely she would be bones, or fairly close to bones, the police rally did no follow up to identify her?

50- that was actually marry who was in Spencer’s room, it was confirmed in a later season, where it showed petter thinking she was Jessica But then she said “I had to see her, our daughter” and that’s when he realized that it was actually marry.
