  • Thanks Emma! My brother also told me holding/wearing my baby all the time will make him clingy because one of his in-laws held her son a lot and so far he (~1 year old) is clingy. I remember one of my aunts was always with and holding her daughter, though, and now as a teen she's very independent. It's so strange hearing people assume that a "clingy" baby is a bad thing... our babies need us, of course they're clingy!

    • I know someone whose baby was “clingy” and cried CONSTANTLY. I think it was because she would panic and comfort the baby when he was in light sleep and squirming. So he was really tired and constantly bothered. You can’t over-love but comforting when there is no need just prevents sleep!

      @Ash-gj2lf@Ash-gj2lf Жыл бұрын
    • I’m not sure how well this translates to other children, but I made sure to hand my baby to as many people as possible as early as I could, so he could get used to being held by other people than his mother. I wear him and carry him plenty, but he is not clingy and is happy getting attention from anyone. He’s 7 months. But it could just be that I got lucky, he was sleeping through the night before 3 months 🙌

  • Thank you for the holding/spoiling tip. I've been told this too many times that I spend way too much time with my son. He stops crying quicker and cries less because I am able to read his cues and solve them. I can tell that he is calmer and happier than some others that I see that let theirs sit and cry a lot. Even my mother has said to let him sit or lay there and cry for a spell. It breaks my heart to hear him unsettled.

I was sure she smiled in reaction to me. But, instead of being confident that this was INDEED her first smile, i was busy having an inner dialog that I was wrong and that it was just gas. Im glad I know better now for any other babies we might have. Also, I will tell any new mamas that I know, not to second guess if they think their little one is smiling. Today I tried to help her sit but she would use her leg strength to pop up. Every time she did so, she started walking her legs too. My mom said that this could hurt her spine. Is this something that I should be letting her do or can it actually damage her body?

A baby who is nursing shouldn't have any reason to be constipated. If their urine is pale and frequent,baby is probably fine If you are worried, though, call your pediatrician! When she first started smiling in her sleep, I assumed these were just movements of the mouth which so happens to resemble a smile. But when I finally saw her laughing in her sleep (something that my wife has witnessed long before me), I'm sure these were unmistakeably genuine laughs. And genuine laughs comes with genuine smiles. My baby is 2 months now. She hasn't smiled or laugh awake yet.

      @anastassiapoppenberg812@anastassiapoppenberg8122 жыл бұрын
    • Hi @Mil Lie no that's not true. Bub's learn to crawl anywhere between 8 months to 13 months. If your little one isn't on all 4s by 8 months it is not because you have held her too much. Just make sure you give her some free floor time during the day to help build up the muscles she needs to get into this position.

      @EmmaHubbard@EmmaHubbard2 жыл бұрын
    • Babies have different ways of crawling, and some even skip this stage, whether you hold them a lot or not. If your baby does not progress according to when someone else thinks they should - they will look for 'faults' in your parenting.

    • If its a push walker, then why? Mine love to use it, if you talking about a sitting walker, i would also no recommend you using it for your little one. They learn best about balance on a push walker, besides there is many cons of using a sitting walker. Dont worry about them getting hurt. They also learn a lot about their ‘’mistakes’ and miss calculations haha . From my own experience, my little one, she is too confident by 14 months because i not protected her too much. She hardly ever cry unless its hurting and mummy always come the rescue!

      @klorinmo@klorinmo2 жыл бұрын
    • Hi @Trizia Bonete it's really your choice. If do choose to use the baby walker then try and limit the risk of injury by making sure the floor is level, picking up all the toys and maybe rolling up the mat or rug if it makes the surface not level. Also make sure your little one doesn't have access to stairs, or can reach items up high etc. Just be aware that they move really fast when they are using them. Also make sure you provide variety in their day - so floor time play as well.

    • Hi @Esther Meyerhoff sorry I mean the ones where the bub is placed in a slung seat, which essentially holds them up to stand or sit and they move their legs to "wheel" the equipment around the room. The push walkers which are the ones that they push around while holding onto a handle (they look a bit like a trolley) are great. These push walkers often give the little ones confidence to walk and helps build up their strength and balance. Hope that makes it a bit clearer!

  • Is it normal if my 3mo son wakes up every two hours for a feed? Over the day as well, he eats every two hours. Is that a mistake by me or...?

    @polychrome5576@polychrome55762 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, a 3 month old eating every 2 hours is normal. My first two babies ate every 2 hours like clock work until around 3 months when they started going longer to 3 hours. My current baby will be 3 months in a few days and still eats every 2 hours.

  • Broken gums in the mouth can cause infection which cause fevers. Doctors don’t know much about teeth. Heard this dome someone who said their dentist said this. So technically teething doesn’t cause fevers. But it can cause an infection which causes a fever!!!

    @thescenesociety@thescenesociety2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes. That is why I recommend you don’t ignore fevers when a bub is teething because if they have an infection they might need treatment. A fever isn’t something you should dismiss even when your bub is teething.

  • I disagree with myth #5. Constantly holding your baby makes daycare extremely difficult as they cannot hold your baby all day. In the end your baby will cry more because they are not used to not being held. A baby should be held and comforted but there needs to be a fine balance. Also, doctors need to stop telling parents this because it does nothing to help the child at daycare.

    • Not everyone sends their child to daycare so it’s fine for their baby to seek contact
