Old Rusty Handmade Dagger Knife Restoration
Hello folks! Today I will show you my new restoration projects. That rusty dagger knife I was bought at flea market. Initially, I thought it was a dagger that was created by some company, but it turned out to be handmade. I'm 90 sure % it's an instrumental steel and this dagger was created at factory. In any cases I start my restoration. First, I used electrolysis and then I began to grind the blade via orbital random and angel grinder machines. For the end of that restoration process I used a polishing cycle to make shine effect on the dagger. The Hardest part of rescue was a dagger handle. Due to the geometry of the blade initially was created incorrectly and the shape wasn't right. For the dagger knife handle I choose an ash tree. Reverts I made from the nail with diameter 5 mm. Finally, I used dark red two component paint for knife handle. Also, soaked the knife handle with linseed oil. Sure, in the end of video I made nice hard test for that dagger knife! I hope you enjoy this knife restoration video.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

Thank you so much, sir!
This is so relaxing.
Beautiful restoration as usual. The stain/paint you use is ingenious, who would've thought it would work on wood!

1:56 I love your reaction here hahah
:D :D
Definetely a carbon steel with high carbon ratio, as an other guy said in the commends. I like the methods used in your work and love your videos, sir! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much sir!
How do you know by just looking at it that it's a high carbon steel?
Entertaining restoration ! I like it ! Best regards ! J.H. 🇩🇰
I would have liked to see a wider, metal guard on it, or even a wider wooden one.
Wood on it makes me go Yes
Good ✌️⚔️
Классно!
The dagger looks like a small rebuild or copy of a Gladius, the ancient roman sword of the legions,
Yes definitely Roman style. I would have heat treated it. But then again its how much work you are willing to put in it...
Looks like the iron dagger from Oblivion.
You should make a wooden sheath for it.
I agree. But I need to improve my leather working skills
Nice refurbishing effort. Did you heat treat it or did you know what hardness it was already at? Just wondering...
Due to that I hardly processed-grinding it was already hardened. Thank you for attention.
You took an obvious piece of garbage and made something beautiful, well done
Thank you!!

do you consider stamp your restorations with your own mark?
Good question, I'm not sure about that. Because I give a second life to the subject, sir.
@@ScrewsAndTools people kill you if you stamp an old solingen sword, but i mean origin unknown restorations

Why did you use a rag to cover a rusty blade on a vise?
To avoid dents from the vise.
@@ScrewsAndTools it's rusty so it wouldn't make any difference, I enjoy watching your video's and I love your accent as well
@@oyesimon8112 Thank you sir!
Looks nice! By the way a dagger is a type of knife, so "dagger knife" is redundant. Normally I wouldn't say anything, but you have expressed concern about your fluency in English in the past so I decided to give you a heads up. :)
Hello! Thank you sir! ^_^
Screws And Tools I would keep it in the title though, it’s not technically proper but it still makes sense for a video title. It helps SEO (search engine optimization) and makes the style of dagger more clear imo. Like this one feels more like a kitchen knife than the fancy daggers Google Image Search usually brings up, so I like that.

@@corybrown4659 Thank you very much sir! I only have a service "donationalerts", a link on the main page of my channel.
If it's a custom handmade I'm willing to bet 1080 steel was used, as it has the right amount of carbon to iron ratio, and as they can come in 6 foot (that's 2 meters for you matric nut jobs) long strips, hammering is seldom ever needed Perhaps they didn't or couldn't put any markings on there for either legal reasons or just didn't have the equipment/tools to do so
Thank you for information, sir!
I would like to give you a complement on your skills in speaking English. It is a hard language to learn. We have there, their, they're. All 3 words a pronounced the same and have a different meaning. I do not even know the rules of English. Thank you for the video. And I can see everything now. Nice lighting. Beep Beep
Hi! Thank you)) Oh, and you found the old video, this is my first attempt at restoring daggers.
