Not many things gives this old man the goosebumps but when he sang a Capella it was simply amazing.
I wouldn't call computer key or pitch correction "a Capella". The kid can sing, but that doesn't mean he needs to sound unnatural like this.

I'm not a huge fan of all the unnecessary runs and vocal tricks they use to create an illusion of great singing . It makes them all sound the same.

Sometimes the backing track overwhelms the singers voice. Without it, we could all hear what a phenomal voice this young man has.
He's also told what questions to ask and, in this case, probably also told to request the do over.

@@kristinebailey6554 all these shows as totally scripted. Why do you think they have all that background info they show you, about people who "just showed up to the audition". They are screened before, the team has everything prepared. They don't leave this to chance. Too much money involved.

Yes, the child with the natural echo. He carries it wherever he goes. Insert eyeroll here. Jesus, can't we just hear the kid sing without key correction or autotune or whatever they're using? Clearly he can sing. Must he sound inhuman? Audiences are getting way too used to the perfection that computers deliver. There's nothing wrong with hearing a natural voice. It's far more expressive and impressive.
Simon as mean as he can be he knows his stuff. There's no doubt.

I just love his voice...his stage presence... I hope he achieves his dreams. And Simon asking him to sing twice is a blessing as Simon heard something wonderful in his voice which can beautifully stand on it's own without the backing track. Way to nail it!❤
He was holding his voice back to stay in time with the music. Simon heard it too and wanted to hear him without holding back. I have the same problem when I'm singing along to music vs when I'm singing acapella

I just can't. Oh my God. This little man just made me get goosebumps and cry.... not even on my best day...only in my dreams. His parents must be so proud of him. This baby is an old soul. Yep. His moves, his stage presence! He is born to be on Broadway and in the movies.

I really didn't think that there was anyone out there that didn't understand that the contestants have already gone through layers of auditioning, the staff have made judgements, the judges are briefed, and the plot is set. It's now so convoluted that I've long since stopped watching it!

Simon has always been my favorite judge across platforms. He DOES keep it real! And he felt this young kid's amazing heart and talent. Kid must have some amazing parents. He exudes confidence. All around beautiful soul.
Felt like the background track was to loud for his voice. Simon normally stops cause it's a bad track. He wants folks to hear the talent of the person and not be drowned out.

Wow without a backing track this boy's voice sent tingles in my neck, back and tears flowing what a voice and his only 11yrs still yet to mature, imagine what his voice will sound like when his a teenager and a man, providing he still continues to sing. He will indeed go far. What a gift and a blessing of a voice. Good call there Simon.

That kid has great vocal placement. His belt is very controlled and has a velvety touch. He must have a great coach.

This voice is sprinkled with fairy dust and mellowed in gold. It is a voice from another world. Divine is about the right word to describe it. Whoever his teacher is, that boy is in the hands of a master. He will make strong people cry, and hearts stop beating until he is well into his 60s and 70s. I will buy his first DVD.

He gets 10 out of 10 in every category. He is on his way. He does not need AGT as much as AGT needs him.
People get over excited with singers of now. I've yet to hear voices like the Righteous Brothers, Temptations, or Smokey Robinson. People even start hollering over auto tune. We don't have the sheer talent we once had. This kid has a nice voice.

He's phenomenal but... I think Simon wanted to hear the first part because he said "sing up to the chorus" but the kid sang the chorus. We could all tell how powerful his voice is BUT he was doing amazing things as well at the beginning. I really wanted to hear that part without the backing track.

Exactly. The backing track masked most of what he was doing in the beginning. Simon wanted to make sure that he actually heard what he heard - I would have loved to hear it as well. Kid did great though!
It may have been edited, though. He may have started at the beginning, or maybe he asked for clarification and they said to do the chorus. The chorus made for better television. They cut out most of the first the first time anyway.

Damn, I think this kid just out-Beyonce-d Beyonce herself! When he did that acapella part, he was ABSOLUTELY ON-PITCH - if they'd put the backing track back on again, he would already have been matching the key it was in, without needing to make a single pitch adjustment.
