Paris is one of the most magical cities in the world! But man, it can be tough figuring out where to eat and drink like a local. It’s a city that is so popular with tourists - and that means there is an overwhelming choice of places and a fair few tourist traps to avoid!
So to celebrate our fantastic Ultimate Paris Food Tour I teamed up with our local Devour Paris expert Jess Timmins to take you to 11 places where to you can try some of the must-try tastes in this incredible city.
We focused our food tour in Le Marais district, which is a gorgeous historic part of Paris with lots of family-run business and beautiful winding streets, some of which are as they were centuries ago.
In this video we hit 11 establishments, lots of them family-run businesses. And many of them actual places we visit on our food tour.
So where did we go to eat the best food in Le Marais... and what did we try?
1. Caractère de Cochon - Paris’ best jambon-buerre sandwhich
2. Jean-Paul Hévin - Paris' best macarons and chocolate
3. Tout Autour du Pain - mind-blowing croissant and pain au chocolate
4. Grand Cafe Tortoni - gorgeous coffee shop!
5. Poilâne - famous bakery and French bread how it used to be made
6. Chez Alain Miam Miam - an incredible galette au beurre salé
7. Au Petit Fer a Cheval - pastis for a little aperitif
8. A La Villa de Rodez - a selection of delicious French cheeses and cured meats (saucission)
9. Les Philosophes - lovely bistro for excellent steak tartare and French onion soup
10. L’as du Fellafel - Paris’ best falafel, in the Jewish Quarter
11. L’Etiquette - a fabulous little wine shop (where you can also drink wine by the glass)

We loved our Paris Ultimate Food Tour! Our guide Dave was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The selection of stops on our tour gave us good variety. We discovered places we never would have found and more importantly, the stories and information that Dave shared made each stop a memorable one. Thank you Dave for a wonderful afternoon with Devour Tours!
Love a female who, like me, is not afraid to show how much she is enjoying her food.
michele aheme - Are females not allowed to enjoy food?
@@Metsada007 I think you have misunderstood my comment.
@@Metsada007 Not according to patriarchal fatphobia and diet culture that imposes an unrealistic standard of beauty.
@maurice22ravel since when health issues like obesity , and overweight become a normal and healthy thing !?
@@maurice22ravel Patriarcal fatophobia ??? A new concept with non sense. Curvy and even big girls where promoted in History by patriarcal culture. Who made this new canon of beauty promoting anorexic androgenic caïnoman super models..? Big fashion designers who are mosly all gay (and by definition don't like women. "Killing the father" is not a solution but the abvious source of maybe not all but a lot of our modern problems. In sociology if you get rid of a system you theorically have to replace it by another What do you suggest ?
Who's with you, her passion for France (food) is adorable! As is her accent!
Thant’s the amazing Jess! She leads our food tours in Paris!! She rocks!
obligé qu'elle soit française
@@spainrevealed you have found the perfect person to be a food guide :)
@@spainrevealed hi 🙂 I will be touring Paris really soon & was wondering is there anyway Jess could connect with me to do a tour please?? Will be with my daughter & we would LOVE to have your presence with us.. please advise. Thanks!
Appreciated that you focused on one area, Le Marais, instead of trying to cover all of Paris. Perhaps you could do separate videos on other areas. I would watch them all, especially if Jess offered commentary.
Love the expansion to Paris /France 🇫🇷! Viva
France has the best food in the world !!!!
So much fun hanging out with you both. I was in Paris in 2016 and loved my time in the city. Thanks for including me on your tour! You've inspired me to return. . . and enjoy all the things I loved when I was there. Darryl
Wow!! We love Jess!! Her smile and energy c’est magnifíque!! More Jess please!!
DEFINITELY more Jess! She is FRENCH. Knows the food, language, people, etc. Let her explain . . .I love that he brings the tour to the world, but would have loved to have listened to more of her descriptions.
Is Jess Australian? I hear a bit of a British accent...but his personality strikes me as Aussie. Please advise?
When you were eating the Steak Tartare it reminded me of when Mr. Bean ordered Steak Tartare and then hated it so much that he was putting it in other customers purse in the restaurant. It's one of the funniest episodes ever !!!
Careful with the "you can smell a good bakery", the one near where I lived in Paris spread artificial odors and looked "authentic" with stone and wood everywhere. They were selling industrial bread. A real bakery must contain "boulangerie" in it's name, if it doesn't, it's selling frost products.
@@IronFreee You're right.
As a french guy, I unfortunately can say that's true... So be careful. You must go to "boulangerie" and only there.
@@IronFreee So "artisan boulangère" would mean that there is at least one artisan but doesn't imply that bread is made inthere? I'd guess that an artisan is the master of the craftsmanship of bread, so it seems a bit contradictory.
@@constipados Well, a lot of restaurants have a cook but only sell pre-prepared industrial food. You can have an artisan making some but not all of the products or none. If the artisan does the bread then it will be call "Boulangerie". All boulangeries have artisans by definition.
@@arnaudfafournoux1457 How I miss living in France!!!
We just discovered this video by accident and we are hooked. I love your energy (both you and Jess) and how descriptive you are about the places you visit. I have written down several places you visited and we will definitely be trying them on our next visit to Paris. We can't wait to watch all of your other videos!
I love all chocolates
I AM A VIETNAMESE - AMERICAN. HELLO 👋EVERYONE THANK YOU VERY MUCH BECAUSE YOUR CHANNEL BRING ME DISCOVER SOME PLACES THAT I DIDN'T KNOW. I WISH SOME DAY I'LL VISIT PARIS 🇫🇷 BEST WISHES TO EVERYONE 🙏
Jess is a natural in front of the camera.
Totally!
Très beau montage, bel engagement, belle tournée, plus ou moins représentatif, bien joué! Ton accompagnatrice est exceptionnelle et très cultivée!
The video is wonderful! You guys are amazing! Jess is awesome! Loved listening to her speaking in my two favorite languages- English and Francais! Bonne chance!
I love you videos so much, I really hope you continue to expand your company and the cities that you offer food tours, Id love to see some in Belgium, and Germany as well. Good luck and I can't wait to visit France and Spain to tour with your company!
I'm a parisien, and thank you so much because you made me discover some places that i didn't know ! Moslty Caractere de cochon oh my god, look simple but so good !!
Incredible!
Je passais juste par là et je voulais dire que j'adore ta photo de profil ! Que ce bonne journée ! 😉
Ah, James! Perfect again! I was thinking of Paris and Dublin next year! You have helped me so much for my upcoming trip in September in Madrid. I am looking forward to the same intimate look at Paris. The croissant looks amazing!
What a great video. I went to Paris on my honeymoon. This confirms why we chose Paris. Toujours Belle!
This is perhaps the best food vlogging in Paris. Believe me guys, I've noted all the names, in fact chalked out a plan to execute this in two days, during my stay in April next year. It's elaborate, detailed and showcased all possible hidden gems. Most vloggers, kept on talking looking at the camera, some only show the outside aimlessly. Yours is a piece of jewel.
Woa! I'm so excited Devour Tours has a Paris footprint! I took the Devour Seville tour this May and it was absolutely the highlight of our 11 day trip in Spain! I'm going with my mom on a mother-daughter trip to Paris soon, so I'll check out Devour Paris :)
We would love to have you on tour!!!
love listening to jess
It's great that you maintain the tapas energy in another country
Thank you!
So glad I found this video --planning a trip to Paris soon! Thank you SO much for all the amazing recs!!
Merci je suis Française et j'adore votre vidéo
Croissants in paris are magical, You can see the quality with this one
Ca fait plaisir pour un français de voir cette jeune femme apprécier notre cuisine avec des étoiles plein les yeux.
Only in Paris do the Stas have eyes - and they even smile at you - the eyes.
We loved L'Etiquette so much we went twice! Thanks for your great recommendations.
Amazing video. Jess is a sweetheart! I really enjoyed watching. I wish this video was made two years ago when I visited Paris. Amazing city and great people.
Jess is an absolute BABE ! Fun, clever, pretty, northern English, great in front of camera, she is a delight to watch.
You obviously fancy her... Good luck 😊😊😊
I do
Arghh I ended up watching the entire video and now I love her. So bubbly and always smiling. Seems soooo nice. ♥ Got distracted there. Great video from both of you. Jess - the expert.
Jess is.... english? Isn't she french?
@@scottsee5760 her french accent is just absolutely MINT mate, but you can hear she's from oop North when she's speaking English
I love Marais and you have captured it’s essence. Great job!
Absolutely love the way you vlogged this! So informative and scrumptious! Saved this video for my visit to Paris. Love from India XOXO
I ordered french onion soup at three different bistros during my 2013 Paris trip and non of them were served au gratin. Hope to revisit Paris this year and will try to do your tour as everything sounds wonderful. Thanks for this video it was lovely.
I wrote every one of the visits down!! I am from canada and my brother is from London. He is getting married but for my birthday we are dong a day trip to Paris. Id much rather see the culture and the small cafe's than I would castles etc LOL. Im sure we will have a wonderful time now!!! See you in April!!
That was really fun! Will remember Devour Tours on my next visit! Thanks!
Just checked most of the places you recommended. You were right-they are good. Thank you for making this video 🍀 helped us to discover the beauty of Paris food 🍲
Most of the best pastry we've ever eaten were in Paris! haha love it! thanks for sharing :)
Went to Paris last year I wished I had taken the tour even if I found great places on my own. Keep it up James
Next time!
Thank you for the inside information of Paris so we don’t get caught up in the typical tourist traps so nice to see
I cannot wait for my trip to Paris and Barcelona and Rome. I’m bingeing all these videos to learn what to eat and do!
Amazing as always!
Coñooooo. París también? Bravo James. Keep going.
Quelle visite intéressante de Paris ! J'y suis allée plusieurs fois, mais jamais dans ces endroits sympas que vous nous avez montrés ! Merci beaucoup, et santé!! ☺
I watched this video for a school assignment and the food is soooo tempting
Thanks for sharing! Very entertaining.
Bonjour. Nice edit & tour but I can tell you one thing : there is so much french food to discover ! You just showed less than 5% of our gastronomy but I know it's impossible to talk about everything in a single video :) VIVE LE PASTIS Greetings from France ♥
Totally - so much I could have included!
Yep, when she said buttery, and stuffed, brought out her best Yorkshire accent.
The lady is a good food guide. Good standard.
I think it's fantastic you are expanding to other countries. I wish you all the best. I will be joining one of your tours when I move to Spain next year.
Awesome - can't wait to have you along!
I want to go Paris👍💚
James, Thank you for makinng such amazing videos. I love it and note it as well for the recommendation. Merci beaucoup
Just left Paris - of course had to take this tour before I left & it was GREAT - Jess was so fun & knowledgable - the food places we visited offered yummy items - I will visit them when i return to Paris again - o glad I found that you are now in Paris - I've taken your tours in Madrid & Barcelona - always found them to be fun, informative & a good value. James has big tapas energy even in Paris.
haha
Wow. Great. Amazing Paris.. and Love your new venture. All the best. 👍.
Will be in Paris in a few months. Great video. Makes me so excited to explore that area and that food. Thanks
Jambon-beurre is the ultimate sandwich : French key phrase : less is more !
So true. I just had my first one a few days ago and it was delicious!!
Très bien réussi ! As a lunatic for France and french cuisine (call me "franco-fou") with german origin I appreciate your good work by selecting great spots and your passionate descriptions are gorgeous. Glad you left your spanish comfort zone. Merci beaucoup!
Merci Peter!!
@@spainrevealed Thx... James, next time in Paris you should explore the Rue des Marthyrs in the 9. Arr (south of Pigalle). Between Notre Dame des Lorette and Rue Victor Massé you'll find in that small street heading uphill towards Boulevard de Clichy within some 100 meters a lot of food stores such as Boulangeries / Patisseries, Boucheries / Traiteurs, Fromagers, Poissonneries, Magasins des gibier, Epiceries, etc. ...all local clients, no tourist trap 😉👍
being honest when i found your channel you really catch me, you have nice way to explain the thing, i love your videos, Saludos de Perù
Such an informative piece of work. Thank you for this video.
I'm going to Madrid and Paris in December so your videos have been super helpful. Thank you!

Jess so good as a guide. French with a touch of up north.
Very good video, as usual. Jess is delightful. (Although I do miss Yoli.) We look forward to more. Thanks!
Voyage incroyable et savoureux ! ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely incredible video!
Steak tartare was my grandma’s favorite dish in Paris
These falafels made me obsessed with falafels
I'm waiting for the episode about Rome, per favore! 😁
I enjoyed watching guys thank you 🥰
Thanks for your informative video. I'm going to be in Paris in December staying in the 11th district which i see is close to the Marais. Will definitely be trying a few of the places here in your video.
Another great video - want that jambon beurre now! And love the photo of you and Yoly from Toulouse ❤️
haha xxxxx
more Paris content!
daydreaming about going to Paris one day
I am going to Paris soon. This video is just what I need. I will try every place you recommend. thanks
Thank you so very much!!! Your video was fun, informative, great sights of Paris, and I'm hungry now 😋 I'm planning on taking my amazing 10 year old daughter to Europe this summer, we're from Langley City BC Canada 🇨🇦, and Paris is one of the 3 countries and cities we're planning. I'll be referencing your tips again. Merci
Jess is an absolute cutie 😊
Thanks your video! Everything looks delicious!😋 I wish you could discover places and restaurants which are not expensive that Parisians use to go there! Economic restaurants or foods!
You got to love France!
8:35 that croissant look like art !
it was!
Merci - Now I know how to eat French Onion Soup lol
Actually , it s quite a good video , you made me discover great spots , no luxury , no fanciness , just authentic parisian cuisine . Even if I would have liked to see you some dessert but , all in all , you nailed it !
Thank you!!
Fantástico. Buenas vacaciones pareja. Un abrazo. 😘
I would put the smile of Jess in a frame on my bedside table just to look it before dream... Ah, the video is very well organized, clear, and entertaining, congrats! Cheers from Buenos Aires
Paris est magnifique, un jour j'y suis ♥
Paris is already in your heart - you are there! When I lived in Paris I met foreigners there who hated the city and knew & cared nothing of the distinguished culture...just a place for them to work with contempt So if Paris is not already in your heart ❤️ you will NEVER discover her even if you are there in person 🎆
❤️ your show!
Thank you!
the Chocolate looked quite good, and Croissant is my fave
