Serving as the primary gateway to Central Florida, MCO is the largest airport in Florida located just 6 miles southeast of Orlando. It close proximity to both the city center as well as major theme parks such as Disney World and Universal make it a popular tourist destination. Carriers from all over the US as well as plenty of international carriers capitalize on holiday travel packages through their service to MCO, with dozens of airlines conducting regular service. This paired with the airports up close vantage points make for a truly unique spotter experience as long as you can tolerate the Florida heat and humidity.

    • Orlando can be quite the wildcard. In the winter, more domestic and Canadian wide bodies come (ex. United’s 777-200s, Air transat A330s, the entire Air Canada wide body fleet, and Delta flies to Amsterdam daily). In the summer time the United and Canadian wide bodies are swapped out, but the British frequencies increase dramatically Norse upgrades to daily, British has two daily flights, and Virgin increases frequency and brings in their A350s. MCO is my favorite airport I’ve spotted at for a while and I’d be glade to share my experiences with you.

  • I fly in and out of so many airports not realizing how many available spots there are to legally plane spot. In San Antonio there's multiple vantage points and sometimes you get to see those big 3 row planes heading to O'Hare, or Newark since most international flights still use 737s but Condor with their non stop flights to Germany I think use the Airbus A33-Neo for those out of San Antonio until we expand the runways in the coming years and Air Canada flies out of SAT with 747s if I'm not mistaken
