    • @Slippschitts Hey yup, easily. If we find ways to enable ourselves to live a bit longer... so what? It's what we do with that life that is interesting. For instance: rhythmic, harmonious (or discordant) concentrations of beautiful metaphor, invisible to the eye, but pushing its tendrils through time and space, interwoven frequencies that convey our lived experience as mortal animals, broadcasts of which will echo and reverberate through the universe until it dies. How does curing polio or some shit, confined only to our planet & species, compare?

    • @@urboimatt21 Why? You do need to justify an assertion, just like I do. You're saying that it's MORE important that we have more and more humans in the world? At a time when overpopulation is choking out the last bit of the natural world? Are you aware that of the extant biomass on earth, 96% percent is humans and cows/livestock, and just 4% is wild animals in their natural habitat? But your argument, with nothing to back it up, is that we need to tip the scale FURTHER. I'd assert that, seeing as the coming climate catastrophe will wipe out our species (or close to it) in the next 50-100 years, leaving behind a genius cultural artifact that records our having existed at all is far, far more important at this point than cramming a few more healthy humans into a house burning down. When our species is dust, Music will be a far better epitaph. Now, if you would like to have an actual discussion on this (and you ARE the one who butted in to tell me I'm wrong), kindly present an argument and try to convince me otherwise.

    • @@urboimatt21 I'm not really sure I'll ever consider taking the time to think through such weighty issues as time that's "wasted". Also, if I'm being honest, I don't think your argument holds up. I'm not even really sure it's an argument, as you aren't really asserting anything? And hanging you hat on the idea that "music happened in the past" doesn't even make sense. Isn't that true of medicine as well? What are you even trying to say?
