"I can have all the ideas and plans about what I want it to look like, but when I'm actually in that moment and the work is telling me what to do... the work knows what it wants to be."

  • That quote at the end is sticking with me. I have replayed it 10 times. “There’s a line of creators and your at the end of the line. But if you turn around, you’re the first person going in another direction.” Wow.

  • "I couldn't pick a style", I felt I don't, like, have any single approach", "Try to fit in...", "Stop looking at it as a negative." - all phrases I completely understand when it comes to my own work. Mr Sienkiewicz, you taught me to understand that rules don't have to be followed and can always be broken when it comes to art.

  • Art IS art and whatever materials someone chooses to use in order to express themselves using any tools available, whether it is in service to a commission or your own personal deal doesn't make it any less real. It is all about expression and telling others that you are here.

  • Bill Sienkiewicz art stuck inside my head when I was a little kid, since the first time I saw his work (Dune movie adaptation, spanish edition). That was the first time I realized there was someone behind comic book drawings and I wanted to know who that was, because those where not regular "drawings". Those had something fascinating, disturbing beautiful that still today I can't really name what it is and that feeling persists today. And 34 years later I finally got to know how that name is pronounced!

  • I remember seeing for the first time Love and War graphic novel and thinking "What the bloody brilliant hell is that?? That's something very unique and cutting edge here!". Decades go by and Bill´s work never ceases to amaze me.

  • The first time I saw Sienkiewicz's work in New Mutants, I was put off because it didn't look like the Marvel house style that my 9-yr old brain was used to. Now he's one of my favorite cartoonists.

  • Bill I have been wandering many a store in the Netherlands just to buy your work. I have a few. But it was difficult. I draw I am an artist. But when I saw your work a new universe opened. The funny thing in this video: 'I don't have a style' You or one of the artists I can recognize from a mile away. Most other comic artist all were molded into more ore less the tradition. You my friend are the one that broke all the rules and made comics that will always be remembered others are often just in the pile with the rest

  • The use of multiple approaches to each image makes your work feel more expressive, like you're finding the optimal style to communicate the emotion & dynamism for each moment, instead of staying on-model & being restricted by a strict representative style. I love your work!!!

  • You are BY FAR one of my favorite creators. But you never give any real info about process. Just creative Zen-like statements. But artists should be searching for their own solutions anyway. So the best you can do is inspire others. And your work (as well as your Zen-like statements) do exactly that. Thank you.

  • I've never used this word before, and I'm not even 100% sure what it means but for some reason it's in my vocabulary, so.. Seminal! The Divinci or Van Gogh or our era in my humble, it's a crime he's not world renowned.
