@@footerotica882 that is too simplistic. The Giants were terrible until the league stepped in and forced them to hire George Young who turned them around before that people were burning tickets. Then Ernie Accorsi took over and then Reese who primarily benefited from a roster established by Ernie until guys got Old and Reese wasn’t able to do what Ernie did. Also the current Mara inherited the team and since he has been fully in charge the team has gone mostly no where.
So what’s you’re solution?

John Mara is never gonna sell the team. But what he CAN do & NEEDS to do is fire Dave Gettleman (like you just said) but just step out of football operations & hire a FOWARD THINKING GM/VP that can change things.

I’m a giants fan all the way it’s hard to argue what Stephen A is saying but all it takes is a good GM, coach and QB. Cleveland and Cincy were horrible but now they are respectable and are getting better especially the bengals. Ownership needs to think outside the box on the next GM and hire someone that’s not from the giants history books. They need to get out of their comfort zone and adapt to the new NFL

She brought nothing but her feelings. I've been lucky to be able to watch 3 out of 4 superbowls in my short life. I would love consistency but 3 superbowls so far is awesome. Look at the browns, look at new england without Brady, look at tampa bay who used to be the worst. They can def turn it around

Umm I remember OBJ on the Giants electing to not participate in voluntary workouts instead of electing to be a role model for the rest of the team. I also remember him deciding not to study and practice before our only playoff game in the last decade and then taking our wide receivers to Miami to take their shirts off.

Oh Molly, the cowboys are living off their last super bowl from 25 years ago. Since then, the giants have been in 3 nfc championship games to the cowboys none. Three super bowl appearances since Dallas last made nfc title game. If any team is living off their past its the cowboys
I understand Gettleman’s approach as far as keeping existing players for multiple seasons in hopes that you can develop their skills, but there reaches a point where it is not the progression of the player that’s the problem, it’s the players themselves. There needs to be attention on the offensive line when it comes to drafting, and Gettleman has not put any drafting attention on that area at all. He will most likely be gone after this season, but I have no faith in the owners that they will bring in the right person to replace him. Let’s face reality here when it comes to Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin, the Giants got lucky with obtaining both of those guys who helped lead the Giants to the two Super Bowl wins, but since then they haven’t hit on any player, coach, or GM. They are the laughingstock of the NFL and in all honesty, unless some serious and I mean serious changes are made then this team is not going anywhere anytime soon. It will just be more of the same year after year.

sure they can turn around if they got good replacements for gm, coaches and qb, but it should be in that order. until they get a good gm no coaches and qbs should look to join them, and until they get a good gm and a good coaching team, the likes of rodgers wilson and watson should not be looking at them as a viable destination. a top tier qb joining a system coached by judge and team building efforts led by gettleman won't make a difference.

This segment is hypocritical because ESPN is the same network that always urges free agents and released players to go and sign with Green Bay. Green Bay is the smallest market in the league, have a diva quarterback, and have won 1 Super Bowl in 10 years, and only 2 Super Bowls in 25 years. But every segment is Green Bay this Green Bay that as if they are a dynasty. So dont tell me that Giants arent a destination if Green Bay is according to ESPN. And I'm not even a Giants fan.

NYG won the Super Bowl in ‘12 (year ≠ season) & a record # of drops cost NYG in the ‘16 playoffs. Molly’s right, they’ll never get production from offensive players like Jones & Barkley without an OL protecting them. & It’s been an issue since Eli’s later years & Gettleman specifically promised to fix the OL when he was hired. It’s just hard to tell if the coaches aren’t developing picks like Andrew Thomas (that Gettleman took high to fix the OL) or if Gettleman is just making horrible picks.
Andrew Thomas has been playing really well this season. But I agree they have a rather average line apart from Thomas.

The Giants have the 2nd worst record (22-53) I mean… they kind of have been the Jets in recent years. He was saying that prior to the sb win in 2011 they hadn't been to the playoffs since 2008, so they weren't some juggernaut of a team during their most recent "good" years.

The problem with the Gettleman era Giants is that he never fixed the OL. It's not rocket science. 4 years and they have maybe one good player on the OL. That is the reason everyone on their offense looks like dog water. I actually like how he built the defense they are a stud edge rusher away from being very good. He just never could fix the OL which makes all the rest of moves look worst . Like drafting Barkley 2nd .

OBJ never won a playoff game. The coaching can't cook the meal. The Giants have enough players to win games. They can't coach or put the right players in position to win. NYG last playoff run was in 2016. They went to the playoffs 6 times.
