  • Federer's head-fake against Gulbis is still the best. There's a difference between a head-fake and a no-look. Fed actually looked to a spot on the court and led Gulbis there, instead of just turning away from the ball.

    • Federer is actually using this shot for strategy. The others are just looking away and hoping the opponent is fooled/ the ball goes in. Or they simply do it for show and attention. Those are a little annoying to be honest.

  • For any Tennis experts out there. I always wanted to know this. Why do players hit to ball towards the Opponents when they could have easily directed it anywhere else in the court that is unreachable to the opponent. Is there a technical reason why they don't do it like that?

    • It’s easier to throw the ball back at the same direction where it came from than to redirect the trajectory.... as a strategy its looking either to force a mistake, get a better/stronger/more precise hit, or catch the oponent on the off foot when they are returning

    • TennisTV doesn’t have the legal distribution rights for any of the majors, just ATP 250, 500, Masters 1000 and tour finals, the four grand slam events and Davis Cup are ITF not ATP.
