At 6’3, owner Kari is quite tall and certainly not someone you would expect to be living in a tiny house, but thanks to some great design with the help of her father, a retired architect, this modern home has been cleverly crafted to perfectly fit her needs.
The decision to move into a tiny house on wheels was largely to do with a desire to live artfully, giving Kari the time and space to create her art, her books and live a life of her choosing. Her beautiful modern tiny house has found an ideal parking spot only minutes from downtown Portland, allowing her to live the city life while still having her own space.
Find out more about this tiny house and others on our website: www.livingbiginatinyhouse.com...
Kari has written several beautiful books on her travels such as ‘The Art of Walking: An Illustrated Journey on the Camino de Santiago.’ This can be found on Amazon here: amzn.to/2D98vTr
She has also recently started a podcast which is all-out the journey of the Pilgrim. I’ve recently recorded an episode with her and this can be found here: pilgrimlost.com/podcast

  • Hey all! I hope you enjoy this weeks video tour of this beautiful modern tiny house. As a tall person myself, I can really appreciate so many of the clever design touches in this home. How cool is that shower idea too! Such a clever idea. Thanks for watching! With love, Bryce & Rasa

    • Hi Bryce and Carrie, It is really awesome that you make such videos. I love a lot of your videos which appreciate living in a much extroverted way. I just had a question about the bed in Carrie's house, and the bathroom area/ Washing Machine/ Refrigerator area. I want to know how you are fitting all of these things in such a small space? I loved the concept but didn't understand why you went the way you did, as I want to do something similar but for 2 people? also I wanted the exact same bed at my home for the last 10 years, but didn't find this concept video anywhere, so didn't know who to contact. I am a engineer, so I can do the bed part, but I want some guidance. Thank you for reading and Lots of love from India. Regards, Himanshu

    • Thank you for bringing this tiny house to us! Lovely! Like many, I want to know how it works... I can see there are pulleys on each end of the bed, and a remote operated electric winch lowering the bed platform on steel cables... how did they hide the cables so seamlessly so they all look like part of the wall design? And how is it powered?

    • This is just a guess.. I watched another Tiny Home video, and it was a woman in Alaska doing the builds and she used many of the same things in this video. The bed came down and the walls moved for the bathroom. I'm sure you can still search for it here on KZhead. This was a beautiful build.

  • I have watched at least 50 tiny house videos. This is by far the best. My favorite part is the bed. Her innovative lowering of the bed is superior to those tiny loft sleeping areas. The bathroom had a marvelous sense of spaciousness. I especially loved her closet. In all other tiny house videos, I was left wondering if all owners limited themselves to a wardrobe of jeans and T shirts and gym shoes.

  • I'm loving these videos! After losing my beautiful home in the 2009 crash, I watch with such happiness for those who have found a better solution to live free. I'm a renter now, and I nested with a vengeance after having been homeless. After watching your videos, I've decided to declutter, simplify, and let go of the grief of the past. Thanks for the inspiration and message that home is how much you live, not how much you have. And less is more if you decide to make it so. xo Aurora

I then saw those clips on the wall and realized that they had to be moved to let the bed come down and it hit me! SO CLEVER. I also saw the shower curtain but couldn't figure out how they fit a shower. I did notice that that wardrobe seemed detached from the wall but it wasn't until she pushed it that I put (well she put it for me) two and two together! Again, SO CLEVER!

Doing so created flat utensil ( oven pans/trays, chopping boards etc) under these risers. Fairly easy to do, easily finished off with granite or tile to adapt a built-in look. One place I did it in I actually raised the existing sink and reset it, replacing setting when I moved. Another place had a "farmhouse" trough style sink which I merely left in place. Both were quite satisfying.
