Every pilot's schedule in unique, and in this video I'll explain why!
I dive a little deeper and explain some variables that come into play when creating an airline pilot's schedule. From FAA regulations, seniority, aircraft type, domicile, reserves and line holders, there are a lot of different factors that come together in the end to give us our schedule for the month.

    • What would be a schedule for a pilot if that pilot is working for an airline and they are flying an ATR 72?

    • @@Saramaikat - I think probably one of the toughest jobs in the airline industry has got to be "crew scheduling!" Between aircraft types, route requirements, flight deck crew requirements, cabin crew requirements, layover accommodations and so forth, they're constantly juggling. Quite possibly only ATC controllers at busy airports (LAX, SFO, DFW, ATL, JFK, etc.) might have it tougher? Anyway, mad props to those who do work in crew scheduling, right? Cheers from GEG!

    @user-zz4iv1bs8f@user-zz4iv1bs8f8 ай бұрын
    • That’s also based on seniority. If the airline has, say, a Miami base, that base is going to be super senior because who wouldn’t want to live in warm, vacation destination Florida? So if you’re a junior pilot you probably aren’t senior enough to be based there. Whereas a base like NYC is likely to be super junior because of the high cost of living there.

      @Southwest737@Southwest7377 ай бұрын
    • @@Southwest737 Thank you! After doing more research, I found this out and you have to commute to your base where you have to pay for your own flight to get there (I think). Do they pay for your hotel for the night? I was confused on other videos I watched from other KZheadrs!

      @user-zz4iv1bs8f@user-zz4iv1bs8f7 ай бұрын
    • @@user-zz4iv1bs8f You don’t have to pay for a flight. You use your nonrev and jumpseat benefits to catch a free ride on a flight (if there are empty seats available). You do however have to pay for your hotel or crashpad as mentioned in the video.

  • honest question I am seriously interested in becoming an airplane pilot I just turned 16 and I'm from Portugal Great videos btw very helpful and entertaining, anywho I am 16 so I have 2 years of highschool until I can join flight school which i saw in my country with theory and flight practice is gonna range almost 3 years 2 Questions: 1st. How can you tell you want to be an airplane pilot without having any experience in what a flight actually feels like 2nd: The license is stupid expensive my parents wouldn't be able to afford is there any sort of "scholarship" or ways to help my parents pay while I have this 2 years because I don't want to go to university become an engineer to work couple years to become a pilot at like 30 years old and I know the 2nd question isn't really a question but even if I actually want to pursue that career the cost is just enormous yk? Sorry for the long text :/

    • Forget about it man. Being a pilot in Europe is horrible. You will go into serious debt, make a crappy wage, and in some cases you will have to pay to fly. I left Europe for the US. I recommend leaving that shithole and moving here if you want to be a pilot.

  • Is seniority only counted by how long you’re at the airline? If a pilot with thousands more hours transfers to your airline, are they still junior?
