Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to defend Kharkiv as Russian forces launched an armoured ground attack in the area. On May 10, Russian forces launched an armoured ground attack near Kharkiv, Ukraine's second city, opening a new front in the ongoing conflict. The Russians were not repelled. The Russians always follow this formula: probing attacks first, then razing of the city with artillary and arial bombs, then send in tanks to obliterate remaining forces, then occupation with infantry. What Ukraine claims they repelled were merely the initial probing attacks.
