First of all, why should you groom your eyebrows especially if you're a man?
Basically, it gives your face definition and shape and it enhances the look of it. Overgrown eyebrows definitely have the potential to distract from your face as well as your eyes and leave a negative connotation when people look at you. Even though we don't think about it much, it really stands out. Think about the guy with a unibrow or the guy with really overgrown eyebrows, it's just a very bad look.
So how should you get your eyebrows groomed? First of all, you can do it so at the barbershop while you get your haircut especially if you trust them and they know what you like. Depending on where you go, it can cost anywhere from like five to ten bucks.
On the other hand, if your brow shape is different and you want to modify it, it's best to go to a designated eyebrows studio.
The third option is to shape them at home either by yourself or by a partner who is kind of skilled with it.
In terms of tools, you want a very small pair of scissors with a point that allows you to be very accurate. Thicker, more bulky scissors simply won't work.
The same is true for your comb, you want something that is small enough but somewhat stiff.
So how exactly do you tweeze thin and shape your eyebrows at home?
First, it comes down to determining the eyebrow shape.
So first, hold your comb vertically over the center of your nostril which determines the length of the inside brow. Of course, you do this on both sides.
Next up, align the outside of your nostril with the corner of your eye and where the comb meets the brow, that's where the brow should end.
Last but not least, align the outside of the nostril with the outside of the iris and where the comb intersects with your brow is where the high point or the peak point of the shape of your eyebrow should be.
The best tool to shape your eyebrows is a pair of tweezers. You can keep holding your comb into three different positions just so you make sure you don't forget the shape and you get exactly what you want and something that's consistent on the left brow as well as on the right brow.
So with the tweezers, I first pull the hair in between my brows then I pull the hair underneath the arch as well as a tail which is the outside edge of the brows.
When you use tweezers, you want to grip the hair firmly and then pull in the direction of the hair growth, not too
fast, otherwise, you may risk breaking the hair off. Also, avoid pulling it against the growth direction because it may break as well.
Once you have the right shape of the eyebrow it's time to trim the length of the individual hairs. To do so, break each brow into two sections; the body, which is closest to the nose and a tail which is closest to your ears.
So now that you know how to properly groom your eyebrows at home, here if you dos and don'ts that are really important.
First, don't ever use a razor to groom your eyebrows. I made that mistake once and it looked terrible because it's very difficult to get the right shape
Second, do restrain yourself while shaping your eyebrows. Less is definitely more because it's very difficult to get full brow hair to grow back.
Three, don't use any electric trimmer because that will either leave gaps or something that looks really unnatural and it's not at all the look you want.
Four, don't remove any hairs from above the eyebrow. The top edge of the brow always defines the shape and by removing here from the top, you flatten the shape and it looks worse.
Five, do consider using a bit of leftover hair product on your eyebrows especially if it's a styling balm because it can help create a really advantageous look.
Last but not least, don't worry about perfect symmetry between your left and your right eyebrows. Naturally, they're not the same and even after grooming, they won't look exactly the same.

  • This is a great tutorial. I agree with a more natural brow for men. There was a time where men were leaving waxing salons with Joan Crawford style eyebrows. A big No-No. And once again, Sven: love the accent!

  • Amen to that! I have been doing this for years and it is a secret weapon to looking younger, fresher, brighter and better looking! Your hint to restrain yourself is excellent advice, as too much taken off looks odd. A buddy of mine used to get them waxed and it looked far too defined and feminine. Nicely done gentleman!

  • Good advice. I have in the past trimmed then shaved the eye brows. It does leave an unnatural look. Its like having a 5 o'clock shadow on your brows. I take it a step further. I have a beard and I like to keep my beard line looking natural. Rather than shave or trim my cheek line I use tweezers to groom it. It is more efficient since i dont have to shave it every day, and it looks more natural too.

  • Thanks for creating this guide, as it’s helpful for guys who don’t want to look like some crazy professor. I use a combination scissor and comb, which works great for this task. Maintenance is quite easy when using this tool. Lastly, I don’t understand the negative comments re: this video. If a topic isn’t of concern to you, why watch it? Surely there are better ways to spend one’s time if the recommendations are of no interest.

I was surprised to see you use a comb with several of the ‘teeth’ missing from the mid section of the comb. If this were the one and only video of yours I had seen and noticing the comb with teeth missing might influence my decision to watch future videos. Again, meant as constructive criticism. Keep up the good work.

  • But that study done in Canada would generally be a reflection of how cucked up and wimpy the "men" over there are today. Look at Trudeau. I'll keep my brows because I'm proud of the natural age and growth of them. That being said this channel really helps because YOU are the same skin colour and hair colour as I am. Checking out new things is easier because of this, but, I know for sure I'm leaving the brows alone (no I don't have a uni-brow).

    • 3 year update: Been grooming my brows for a year or so, completely forgetting writing my initial comment. My key is to only pluck, keep it to its original shape, remove all overgrown and over-long hairs, to keep the edges of my face neat and more symmetrical if possible. This applies to my neck - the gap between my chest hair and my beard at the top edge of the adams apple - and the very upper cheeks where the bum fluff/peach fuzz always is left behind after a shave. That area of hair always accumulates overgrowth, and the older you get, the thicker/more pronounced it becomes - especially to family and strangers. My dad believes plucking those cheek edges only makes them grow back thicker. Now, his are extremely bold compared to mine. Whether that's true or not, I don't care. Will continue to do this for life. This keeps me ready for anything - job interviews, dinners, weddings, parties, dates, etc. Just remember to keep the original shape of your brows and not go overboard. I used to know a guy who would shave/wax the top side of his brows. It left disgusting stubble, always looked like he was wearing gray makeup up there or something. This video made me realise he cheaply and childishly/immaturely did it the objectively wrong way. Never do that, fellas.

      @SPNKr16@SPNKr162 жыл бұрын
  • Omg you eyebrow is so thin and short, they look so bad. You should fill in your eyebrow or perform eyebrow embroidery. Also, don't trim it, you already have extremely immasculine and feminine eyebrow, stop making it worse!
