Friday Night Funkin' is an open-source rhythm game released on Newgrounds in 2020. The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., which consists of Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. Friday Night Funkin': Mario's Madness is a mod directed by Marco Antonio. The mod is centered around Super Horror Mario, a demonic version of the original Mario, from the rather well-known artwork by Devianart. Included within the mod are many fan-created versions of official Nintendo content from the Super Mario Bros. franchise

I think it'd make more sense for it to be bf, gf, and pico, instead of mr.sys loaning some nintendo characters to help him lose. It even fits: mr.sys vs bf because they're the main honchos, duck hunt vs pico because pico can shoot like in the game, and gf vs bowser because bowser is alway kidnapping the main characters love interest.
