@@TankTheTech I absolutely recommend this live performance too. Their current vocalist Evgeny has also some nice musical experience (you mentioned Dragonlance, the russians made a musical out of it that focusses on a certain black mage and his twin brother. And Evgeny played the black mage on stage. For the movie version they used different vocalists though).

Мне посчастливилось побывать на выступлении Эпидемии, где они исполняли обе части. А CD с записями я заслушала до дыр Очень жаль, что вы сделали реакцию только на одно произведение из этой оперы. Там много достойных песен, в том числе очень лиричных
Должен сказать спасибо за хороший обзор. Детали очень важны! "Эльфийская рукопись" - это достаточно масштабный проект, и то, что ты указал людей из разных групп, которые поучаствовали - это хорошее решение. Даже если кому-то не нравится эта музыка,то количество людей в зале говорит само за себя
I'm so happy you introduced me to this band. After watching a few more of their live performances they remind me of Ayreon a bit with how many different vocalists are on stage, also insane production. Would definitely like to see more of this, but probably newer performances since shooting is way better in them.
I'm not a power metal guy. But this show is absolutely bonkers. I mean, you can't dislike when you see dudes swinging swords and war axes at eachother.

The entire Elven Manuscript show is available on KZhead with English subs. The one you have watched seems to be from 2007, I haven't seen this one before. There is also one from 2005 that has a smaller stage and less production in general but it's a lot easier to see what's actually happening. I'm not very familiar with Russian Metal, but Elven Manuscript is just too good.

I'm actually a big power metal fan, but somehow I have never heard of them before either. But I feel like overall many russian bands have problems to become popular outside of Russia and maybe East Europe. Will definitely chek out more by them :) And your Dad really is awesome :)
This was pretty dope. This kind of metal lost its luster on me but at the same time, if these guys were performing near by I would make time to go see the show. It looked real cool with all the 3 second camera shots so I can only imagine it getting better when you are able to watch and take in everything at once. Music fit real well, too. So apparently the whole concert/album is a fantasy story. Those are not some random people fighting. They each have a role to play in the story (they all have names, for example) so I’m guessing you have to watch the whole concert to figure out the story.

So my best friend listens to trance/house music pretty much exclusively, I don't even think he can name a single metal band except maybe Metallica. One day he asked me for a CD to play in a car he just bought cause he had none, and I gave him the Elven Manuscript cause it was the least heavy album I had and also figured as he likes fantasy like LoTR he might like this. He learned the entire album by heart and that was the only CD he had in his car for years :D

the only other russian metal band i knew of before seeing this is illidiance which i found out about through their cover of breaking the habit (linkin park song) many wears ago, they rerecorded that cover and rereleased it not very long ago
I am surprised your father managed to find this band like at all. There are numerous awesome bans from CIS. You should definitely try other ones, I'm pretty sure you would find something to interest you. I, for example, rediscovered Ukrainian group Karna and really enjoying their album гуцул-метал. Eastern European rock and metal scene is a deep rabbit hole

I remember, when I was 16 - Elven Manuscript blow my mind. At this moments Epidemia made 4 metal-opera albums. 2 parts of Elven Manuscript and 2 parts of Treasures of Enia. And they usually made big shows every year and add more and more production. So, recommend you 2 songs. For me not knowing the lyrics did make it hard to connect to the song at first but it did get fun. I on the other hand tend to listen mostly to power metal, it's what I like. Still always respect the honesty. A Russian band I like Illidiance. And if you want another power metal song in Finnish you can listen to Terasbetoni - Orjatar.

I'd like your profession opinion on something I found last week. There is this dude Jorn in Norway who evidently has been banging it our for years. I know you and most of us are more than familiar with Rammstein's live shows, but I still can imagine that you could give some interesting input about their gear and production. Not sure if a video about them would be interesting for you. I would certainly watch it though. And it might be a nice way to get more people aware of your great channel :) Btw... I´ve always wondered. Why do most Russian power metal bands sound like that? As in, the nearly identical lead voice? For context: I am Russian myself, I'm just really confused about the sheer similarity of voices between Russian metal bands.
It's the classic power metal sound, there are dozens of bands from around the world where the vocalists sound just like this.
@@andrewcarter1747 Thing is, I listen to a lot of Power Metal. It´s kind of my genre along with Symphonic Metal. And Russian Power Metal sounds even MORE similar than most of the generic power metal bands. As in, I usually can´t even tell the difference between the bands from sound alone due to how the voices sound nearly identical.
@@TheNextDecade244 My Russian guess would be it's because we have too many naturally good tenors and the bands were heavily influenced by Blind Guardian and locals Aria.
