The arrival of the Olympic flame in the host country is an iconic moment for every edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Before lighting the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony, the flame is carried by torchbearers throughout the host country and into the host city. For Paris 2024, the flame will visit all the regions of France as part of an epic Olympic Torch Relay that will start in April 2024.
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relay form two separate chapters of a single story. The first instalment will take place from April 2024 with the Olympic Torch Relay and the second will occur after the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games with the Paralympic Torch Relay.
A symbol of unity and peace, the torch spreads the spirit of the Games as it travels around the country, marking the start of celebrations. For the Paris 2024 Games, the Olympic Torch Relay will take place over a three-month period, but the process to select the participants began in September 2023.

This is an amazing to watch. Learning some information from school, then following Summer Olympics (and Winter Olympics) every 4 years, a witness to Vancouver Winter Olympics lighting (held the torch from one of the runners), and now here we are, rooting for Paris 2024 Olympics.

The flame was lit by the sun during the dress rehearsal. The priestesses were wearing the same attire as in the actual ceremony today.
Very beautiful, love to see this 'classical' setting, back to the roots. Unfortunately this part of the Olympics isn't very often told in the media.

I did not like the clothes at all! They are totally unsuitable for the magnitude of this occasion. Who on earth had the idea to change from the traditional all white Ancient Hellenes were wearing to white/grey/black?? One more effort to strip away the greatness of Hellas and separate it from its roots of many thousands of years!
