On March 7th, 2023, an officer was called by school staff in reference to a drunk minor who had been misbehaving and was very uncooperative. She had also hidden a bottle of alcohol in her pocket and wasn’t taking it out. Even after the officer warned her, the female continued to verbally abuse him and the staff constantly. The female persistently showed resistance and verbally abused everybody in the room. Soon, the female's mother arrived and engaged in a heated argument with the staff and the officer. Another officer arrived at the scene and tried to understand the situation from the reporting officer. Since the female was a minor, the officer gave her the option to be released on citation if she behaved. The other officer explained to the female’s mother what had happened. The mother became defensive and attempted to justify her daughter’s actions. The female continued to complain about the handcuffs. Later, the female’s mother called the police department to file a complaint about the officer’s behavior. The female was charged with battery on a school personnel, resisting and minor in possession of alcohol.

Just because we don’t agree with her actions and her foul mouth, doesn’t take away her rights. Tell me why he tackled her and put her in cuffs when she was just standing there talking shit? Since when is our free speech a reason to tackle anyone and hurt em. It took this pig all he had to handle a 13 year old GIRL. I don’t condone her actions, they are disgusting and disrespectful in every way. But it doesn’t give that cop authority to put hands on her for her foul language and disrespect. Where do you think her life and future will lead when the felony charges start to pile up? She won’t be able to get state licensing to do anything productive with her future or earn a decent living thus the blaming and not taking responsibility will continue until the gavel comes down and she goes away on state paid holiday. We can hope all we want, but it’s a very sad state of affairs that a lot of young people make early on due to enablers who have been guilted into allowing them to behave this way. She should have been sent to a mental hospital to start getting help, not released to a codependent “mother”.

    • Yes, and the expectations for kids in school can be so low as well. The teachers or school staff were engaging with this girl while her behavior is completely absurd. They were arguing with her...no, that behavior doesn't get attention as educators. I used to work as a behavioral specialist, and was with behaviorally and emotionally troubled children to put it nicely. Reinforce appropriate behavior, and do not reinforce the inappropriate. I would not have put energy into engaging with a drunk 13 year old. Simple commands and consequences and until she can speak with respect and treat people as humans she gets ignored. That goes for the mother too.

This one facility had people there who were paid for by the school district to ensure their rehabilitation. I was on it, not for the same reasons. I was missing a ton of school and was going to need to be held back if i didnt get more schooling done, so they paid to get me into a facility with this program. Honestly, even though this place was WAY too rough on patients who were struggling like this and with things like attempting to unalive themselves, they saved my life more than once with the therapy and schooling. I hope this place has worked out their shit bc it's a great facility other than the issues with staff.
