    • The offside player directly in front of the keeper is also preventing the keeper from coming off his line and intercepting the ball before it even gets to Wolves player who headed it in. How is that not interfering with play? The outrage about this decision is incomprehensible and ludicrous. Edit: that said, I suppose he's not offside until the wolves player heads it, so I suppose he can do that. Nevertheless, if you stand 2 feet directly in front of a goalkeeper in an offside position any goal "scored" is never going to stand. Still absolutely the right decision.

People keep saying "it's not var, it's the way it's being used" as if we haven't already figured out that referees are poor and often get it wrong. Therefore, as decisions are often subjective, it will ALWAYS be like this and var is practically irrelevant as a perfect authority. Because this week, one official will say that this isn't a goal, and next week a different official will say it is. Var was doomed from the start, and we've had 6 years of it and 6 years of experience and watching how it *should* work hasn't been enough to train these officials how to be better, has it? This has easily been the worst season for decisions we have seen, so does it look like a success to you? People need to stop making excuses for var. Football was better without it, and now we have more consistent controversy than I've ever seen in my entire lifetime. Var is an obvious failure, not even a debate imo. It's farcical.

The referee must have some wiggle room for interpretation here. Are the referees being told therefore to just use the law LITERALLY? Because if that is the case then we have two questions: Do fans/players etc want that? IN which case every situation like this results in a canceled goal. Or - would fans rather give referees wiggle room to make a judgement call based on personal interpretation of each individual situation? Because we cannot have both.

    • I’m annoyed and not even a wolves fan. But for West Ham’s corner Antonio is backing into Sa. I’m spurs and have the joy of watching players do this against Vicario every corner and nothing happen and then West Ham get a goal against them chalked off for literally nothing. He’s not offside before cos it’s a corner so he can’t be offside, then when the headed contact happens there’s a player on the left of the box who has just played him onside… ridiculous decision.

    • @@anonymousgaming5212 Fabianski was blocked. VAR could see that.. Fabianski also confirmed this after the game himself. Without VAR I understand why it would be chalked off, but knowing they could have watched this a few times, they should have awarded the goal. Clearly he’s not obstructing the goalkeepers actual view. If he was by just having his head there… how did anyone at the stadium watch the game with so many people sat in front of them ;( One head near your head doesn’t complete block your view… unless it’s Fellaini or someone.

Fulham received an apology vs Man City when City scored with one of their players in an offside position in front of the keeper & the goal was given. What you really want is the goal to have stood yesterday & West Ham recieve an apology on Monday. You should be pleased the rule book was followed...

  • My question is simply this, no one is arguing that chirowe is in an offside position. The real argument to me is, did he (5’11”) actually obstruct 6’3” gks view on a ball that probably was never below 7’. The side view shows the gk looking over the player. If his view is not obstructed it is not offside. And remember it was a given goal meaning it has to be clear and obvious his view was obstructed. I think the gk doesn’t appeal bc he saw it the whole way and couldn’t get there

    • The 'keeper was being distracted by the Wolves player. You could see him trying to get the Wolves player out of his space. If that's not interfering with play, what is? The whole point of putting a player on the 'keeper is to stop him coming off his line and to distract him. That's why the Wolves player was there, that was his job. All the idiot had to do was step out a yard when he saw the ball was about to be headed and he wouldn't have been offside.
