Sever years later and I'm still feeling grateful,. Thank you, Donna Griffith, wherever you are! :)
SIX years later and this video is still helping people! I didn't have enough wrapping paper for a baby shower gift, but I have a ton of cardstock. I decorated the lid with a square of the leftover wrapping paper and tied some ornamental lace around it. It worked great! THANK YOU for doing this video!!!
Finally found a video that makes so much sense!! Your explanation and simple worksheet have made this process so clear for me. Thank you, Donna! 😊
Four years later, this is still the box-making tutorial to use.
instablaster.
I agree 👍🏻

Me too. I love this tutorial. ❤
6 years later I still use this
THANK YOU Donna! Love that I have a "formula" to pass on to my team!
Thank you Donna, love, love the DSP you used for the top of the box! It never occurred to me to use it for that and it looks so elegant!
A GREAT presentation! Thanks for the formula! As always, stampin up is on the job to make crafting fun and easy!
Brilliant! Thank you for teaching us "how to fish" when making boxes!
Thank you Donna for a fab tutorial!! The 'smidge' tip is brilliant as I usually find getting the lid to fit snugly quite tricky :)
Great video - thank you so much for explaining how to arrive at measurements for making customized boxes. This was so easy to understand. Yay.
Thank you so much for the great box-making tutorial and for sharing your worksheets and ideas! I love your idea of trimming the smidge from the bottom. Much better than having to add a smidge to top. Now I can get 2 small boxes from one piece of 12x12 by cutting into 6” squares and trimming bottom pieces!
Great video Donna! I love the tip about the "smidge" to cut off of the measurement for the bottom of the box. I usually try to do the 1/16 calculation when writing down my measurements, so this makes it so much easier to remember. You rock!
Thank you so much for the extended explanation of creating custom size boxes--my customers LOVE being able to see a visual walk through of all the great tips :-D And I love how you split the sections of the video...very considerate of the viewers' time!
Gosh! Thank you sooo much for sharing all that information on custom sizing boxes.....that is so helpful! 😊
Thanks for a wonderful tutorial! I had a love/hate relationship with the fast-fuse until your tip...now I know I will love it! Thanks for sharing.
What a great video! Having the formula makes it quick and easy to figure out what size to make the boxes. So many times what seems hard is really quite simple. Thank you for making this video. I look forward to making these and to sharing with others how they can make them too.
Thank you Donna, this has been soo helpful, i can now go forth and make loads of boxes and pass this on to my customers,
Thank you so much for the formula! I’ve just spent hrs looking for tutorials on making boxes for 6x6 card. Thank you, thank you!!
What a genius paper engineer you are !! Thank you for a very clear and informative video which has encouraged me to make boxes for all my Christmas gifts.
love formula to interchange for any project. This would have helped last week, I spent 3 hours trying to make custom box for customer. Now I can mass produce in a snap. I've got to get frosted paper 12x12. thank u
Thank you so much for this wonderful, clear and easy to understand tutorial. This is perfect!
Thank you for this. I have struggled to make boxes to fit my homemade cards in. This explains it so well and it's so easy.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I like the way you present your formula, and I am making the blank lines, width, length, how tall, etc. formula copies for myself so I always have a new one in front of me for each box. Thanks for taking the time to show us!
Excellent lesson on making boxes. Well organized and so easy to follow. Thanks so much for sharing.
Wish I had found this sooner. This is so much easier than the way I was doing it. You will now save me loads of time. Thank you:)
Omg I am so happy this video is still available, and I just love the smidge 😍 thank you so much for the information on how to make the different sizes 💖💖💖👍
Wow Donna, this tutorial is ama-z-ing. Thank you so much for making such a wonderfully clear and concise video for anyone whose box-making has always left much to be desired. At last I shall have bottoms that fit tops and tops that fit bottoms!! Thank you, sincerely, Marion in the UK
Wow, what a great tutorial! You presented it like a school teacher....love it! Thanks so much for sharing
You are a super demonstrator. Calm and speaking at a speed level so we can take it in. The “smidge” is definitely the answer. I am now using my work sheet and enjoying box making. Thanks you so much.
Where was this video all my life. I always got patterns and tried to print them and assemble but now I know the formula. You are awesome.
Thank you so much for the smidge tip. Wow, what a time/paper saver to know that. I used to have a Silhouette but gave it away, so now I needed to learn do boxes the old fashioned way.
Thank you. This is just what I was looking for...a proper explanation for the calculation. Love your clear and succinct style.
What a clear, concise, and HELPFUL video on box making...thank you ever so much!
OMG ive been looking for this tutorial FOREVER!! i like your spreadsheet. I was always told to take the smidge off the top to make lid fit, but taking from the bottom seems better, love your cutting tab tip as well... Thanks soo much
The tutorial and technique are AWESOME. No more finding and printing templates! Thank you so much for sharing!!
This is such a clear box making video! I’ve been looking for one for ages. Thank you so much 👍

OMG! This is the best tutorial on making little boxes on KZhead! I made some and they were perfect every time. I just made one with reinforced edges for the top just by tweaking these instructions. I have boxes! Thank you!
Your instructions to create gift boxes were very helpful, especially the section about custom-sized boxes. I made several for personalized chopsticks. Thank you!

thank you Donna. Very well explained. Have an event coming up in the family...i hope to be able to wrap the favors in handmade boxes .
I have tried shoe box for storing make up products, but I must say you did a great job. Even one of my client really like this idea of re using boxes but due to bulk demand I have to order such boxes from bluebirdpackaging.com and did the great job
Ok, this was just awesome! I desperately needed a custom box for a set of cards I am making. Thank you sooooo much!
Thanks so much for this video. I have had so much trouble making custom-sized boxes and you have solved them in this . Love the tassel too. Now to get on with the making !! Busy busy me.
That was an awesome tutorial. Thank you so much for your help.
This video is absolutely amazing!! Thank you Donna!
Oh my goodness!! This is what I NEED ! Thank you so much, I have wanted to know how to do this for sooo long!
This has gotta be one of the best tutorials out there for making a simple paper/card box for gifts of any size. A paper cutter is nice but I made boxes to gift a loaf of bread and another for a canvas (painting) using just a blade, rulers, double sided tape and a bit of patience. The formulas for determining the margins are super duper clear and helpful. 10/10 definitely saving this as one of my go-to craft resource.
Ladybug, OMG, you are a blessing to crafters who find custom boxes challenging. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thank you for your time. I enjoyed this, I have been making boxes like crazy and thay come out just right. I'm a box maker now thanks
Very useful information, thank you so much. Finally I was able to watch a great video to find what I was looking for all this while

Thankyou donna for the tips! I'm currently on vacation and so bored. But now, i made boxes for organizing my room and stuff. Thaaanks!
Love it Donna!!! You did a great job!
Your’s is the best and easiest video I have ever seen showing how to make a box of any size!!! Thank you for the work sheet that makes box making so very easy!!!
I am so glad you have made this video. Even if it has been SEVEN years this video never grows old. This is a legend and also the best
Have been looking at loads of videos on how to make boxes so happy I found you 😘you are such a good teacher 👌
WOW! Thank you SOOO much for doing the math for us. This video alone has earned Stampin Up more of my craft business. Gracias! And, I would add that there was no special Stampin Up equipment needed to make those boxes happen. (well, except for showing the papers and trimmer, both of which I already have). That seems like a real dedication to your customers, to help them create without having to buy any of your supplies.
This is the BEST box video/instructions ever. Thank you so very much. After watching, I made my own 4x6 box and everything fit in it, JUST LIKE YOU SAID!!!
Thank you so much for sharing, I just tried the tip you gave about cutting of 2 mm from the bottom. It worked like a charm. Also thank you for explaining how to measure for a custom box.

I just spent so much time looking for nice boxes on the internet at a good price, while sitting amidst my DIY/Crafty nonsense...wait a minute...I can look up a tutorial on YT! Found this, and I JUST finished making THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOX with the exact colors I was looking for with what I already have! I am literally in shock, as a new-ish crafter. I wanna cry with happiness! Best tutorial ever. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Thank you for this video, as I am getting ready to make chocolates for gifts, and I wanted to make boxes to put them in. Thanks again
Dear Donna, I have to agree with Sandra Cedar: you DO have a lovely presence! The project that brought me to search for information on custom size boxes has nothing to do with gift wrapping. I am currently reorganizing our home and need custom size boxes to sort our household medication in categories and place them in one of our kitchen cupboards. I came across this video and watched it avidly, I have to say. I loved all of the advice that you had on making boxes! The shorter top so that the bottom can be seen, the smidge and especially your work sheet, which I have since made a template of. After I am done making the boxes for my kitchen cupboard, I will be sure to use your valuable advice for gift wrapping, as I love pretty handmade boxes. Thank you SO much for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing all your Knowledge I am finding you just Brilliant with having a Head Injury.

Hi Donna...thank you for sharing this...it really takes the guess work out of making boxes...now will be purchasing some of the lovely frosted DSP...and of cause the card stock of Christmas colours...Cheers from Australia :)
Awesome video. I needed to make a custom box but I am hopeless with measurements! Your video is very clear & easy to follow, just completing the lid now. Fab tips! Many thanks 😊👍
This is so useful - just what I needed! Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your custom-sized boxes with us. I don't know if I could understand every single word you said, however, my boxes are incredible. I just love them. My name is Rosangela, I'm from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. (Jan 16, 2021)
Thanks so much for this video! I normally make boxes for my dimensional 5 x 7 cards where I simply add an inch to the card measurements and score the bottom panel at the 1 inch measurement and after setting the top panel slightly off from the corner, also score that at the 1 inch mark. I then cut the four corner tabs to the score line and glue to create the finished box sections. For easy opening, I use a small circle punch to cut crescents on either side of the lid. I do from time to time need to make boxes for other purposes and struggle to get the correct measurements, so your video is invaluable in getting accurate measurements for the best fit! Thanks again!!!!!
Lots of really great information and tips, Thank You!
Awesome video. I have been watching a lot of videos, but your video is so informative and I can't wait to create my own boxes. Thank you very much
