  • I think the biggest question mark for the colts was the D line. Consistent pressure from the front 4 is quintessential to Bradley's defensive scheme, which is why we went with Latu and picked up a new DL coach. The secondary, while young and needing help, was hung out to try by how long opposing QB's had to get rid of the ball. If the d line gets more pressure and the DB's play exactly the same as last year, it'll already be an improvement.

  • No offense to Rodney Thomas, I'm sure he's a great guy and all but he should never play another starting snap for the Colts again. The only time he should see the field again is if we're up by a lot of points in a blowout and Steichen pulls the starters. He can come in with the 2nd string players. As far as Nick Cross goes I believe his natural position is strong safety and no way am I playing him over Julian Blackmon who outplayed him last year. Justin Simmons needs to be our starting free safety this upcoming season. I would feel more confident if the Colts fielded this secondary: CB1 JuJu, CB 2, Jaylon Jones, SCB Kenny Moore, FS Justin Simmons, SS Julian Blackmon.

  • I knew we weren’t going corner in the draft. Ballard really is straightforward and telegraphs his moves. Whenever he says “I like our guys” you can bet that we’re not going to draft that position. I think what’s going to happen is he’s going to see what he has in camp and in Daniel Scott. And if he feels what we have is adequate, he won’t sign anyone at FS. But if he doesn’t like what he sees, we’ll grab someone from FA.

    @youngfrantz5109@youngfrantz510916 күн бұрын
  • Scott is a smart player who actually has instincts and gets turnovers unlike Cross who needs to play in the box Scott is a big safety who can run and his tackling is outstanding. People just keep being stupid and making judgements based on draft status. As if Ballard hasn't made several good picks with low round draft picks on D. Ive been saying they know Scott can play. His game is similar to Eric Weddle. One of the things he said about himself in an interview with a Tenn. Titans reporter when asked what set him apart he quickly responded "What i have between my ears" Meaning his instincts, understanding of the game, and ability to diagnose. All very important for a Free Safety.

  • Ballard did this a couple years ago…and had to admit in his end of year presser he didn’t do enough to solidify the safety position and now he’s doing it again with the safety and cornerback position!

  • I feel like the Colts are going to wait, at this point, until after June 1st. I can see Ballard signing someone after that. Worth the wait if another team can't afford to keep a guy we can use.

    @dsggoodbar@dsggoodbar16 күн бұрын
  • Ballard likes to comment on the guys he likes. Ones that aren’t performing as well, he doesn’t mention much. Also, the Colts are actually thinner at safety than CB. Ballard spent some good draft picks on CB in last year’s draft and he expects them to step up their game. Right now, safety looks like the #1 position where the Colts could add a free agent. There’s also no need for Ballard to rush to grab a free agent. He can evaluate who he has and as teams narrow down their rosters to 53, he can pick up a player that gets waived or do a low level trade if needed.

    @poolsharkmeister@poolsharkmeister16 күн бұрын
    • Mo really sure Brent was Second rounder but rush got cut and he was fifth rounder. Jones is a 7th rounder. Flowers undrafted. So really the defense relies heavily on late round guys at cb.

  • I think corners was biggest issue last yr I know we need to give time for development but they let backups rookies and 3rd strings put massive yds up against us. Some will say cause we don't blitz, but I works together. We can't blitz cause leaves backfield empty. Tho I was hoping for cb first pick. I'm OK with Latu cause he's got enough speed to get to the qb without blitz. We had alot of sacks last yr without blitzing so I think we need a good cb. Kenny Moore could be the guy but to many times we play him in a versatile role and don't let him be dedicated back he can go one on one with almost any reciever.

  • Here's the thing, 1st Ballard doesn't tell the media everything he's thinking or planning. 2nd why mention a guy that got benched last yr or the guy that replaced him who played decent but not at a true starter level, 3rd if Ballards trying to bring in a vet at FS and it doesn't happen then you've shown Thomas, Cross and Scott he doesn't believe in any of them as the starter but gets stuck with one of them. Why would you show everyone yor hand then make your bet that's just not smart

    @damonr4136@damonr413615 күн бұрын
  • Ultimately when half the DBs are injured then what..they need to add a veteran on a 1-2 year deal that can help or play at a higher level than the younger guys they have now. This seems to be a constant need either Safety or Corner or both…like almost yearly. I do think had the draft played out differently and we didn’t get the top 2-3 defensive guys on the board they would have went WR CB or CB WR but that’s just my opinion, I don’t get paid by the Colts so I doubt they care what I think lol

  • Colts, Schmolts - you are sort of blocking part of your JESUS IS KING sign, making it hard to read. One thing you might do is get one that is a little bigger - there is considerable room on screen that is not filled with the sign and that is witness wasted, to my way of thinking. It would be easier to read, which is to say harder to block, if a larger sign making use of every square inch of screen space were used. Alternatively, you might consider using an electronic JESUS IS KING graphic superimposed over the front of the screen. Sure, part of your face would be obscured, but we can still hear pretty well and it's not strictly essential to see every contour of your face to get the gist of all the Coltstalk. Or maybe you could have the JESUS IS KING sign superimposed over the top 7/8 of the screen and a little closed caption reader along the bottom, just so there's no mistake about what is being said. Little Bible verses could be interspersed in between sentences, so there would never be any wasted caption space either. Happy to help. /s
