    • Yeah like I said, she was given the pin by an old lady (presumably Madge for those of us who read the books), but it just wasn't explained who she was or why it was important. That happens a lot in movies based on books, where part in the book is actually in the movie, and people who read the books would recognize it, but it's not explained to the people who haven't read the book.

  • What bothered me about the movie was that it didn't send out the disturbing message that the books were supposed to. Peeta and Katniss are played by young adults in this, they are supposed to be 15 and 16 year olds fighting for their lives in a sick and twisted game. They are supposed to be awkward teenagers forced to "be in love" just to save their lives. It's a lot more disturbing and hard hitting that way. I find they do this a lot in movies, teenagers are never portrayed by actual teenage actors. Also they very briefly touch on the fact that Finnick was basically forced into prostitution at the age of 14 after he won, and because he's older now and talking about it, they never acknowledge how messed up that truly is. The movies didn't show how actually corrupt this society is. They made it a love triangle and a movie about a hero, but it was supposed to be about fighting against the corrupt government.

They cut out severe injuries for example in Game of Thrones Tyrion got a scar on his cheek where in the books most of his nose was literally chopped off and he had a hole in the middle of his face and obviously in the Hunger Games Katniss didn't have hearing loss, Peeta didn't lose his leg and the only Avox to actually not talk because his tounge was taken out was Pollux (the rest either didn't exist or stood around with tape on their face)

In the first book, Katniss' relationship with Peeta is much more forced than Gale, because she barely knew him and had to pretend to be in love, while she's been best friends with Gale for years. Cause if they improved their lives the poor wouldn't have to work for them. Yknow... like capitalism. that's like... that's the whole point.

      @miguele.martinez8192@miguele.martinez81927 жыл бұрын
    • I don't think YOU understand how capitalism works. Capitalism requires capitalizing off of someone else. All labor and money are part of someone's life. Money is a stand in for human life. Skilled jobs pay better because someone had to sacrifice part of their life for the training and education to have said skills so they don't really make more, they just get paid back for the part of their finite life they gave up. Now, back to capitalism. A capitalist capitalizes on situations and others to gain more money, ie life, than he actually would have available to himself from his own life. The poor are directly cheated of their own life by a capitalistic system. The system will only reward those who either cheat others out of their life, or the few who can come up with something completely new that others would want. But those few are a tiny fraction of the billions of other people who will never live such a life. Instead, those others are trapped in a system that funnels money to the top and requires them to work all the time while paying back very little of what they have actually produced with their life hours. When the value of human life isn't set as equal, it's a zero sum game with a winner and a loser. Capitalism promotes this view of human life.

  • Okay, here's where they went wrong with this trailer adaptation: -The capitol places those projectors in every home since it is MANDATORY for people to watch the games because the government is further proving they are the ones in complete control; they can take your children, make them fight to the gory death, and make you watch. -If the parents make a move towards their kids when they are picked, they'll most likely get shot, or receive some other cruel punishment. They are very upset and broken up, but there is obviously nothing they can do unless they want themselves and their families to get tortured further. -Katniss is in a situation where she's almost certain she is going to die. Would you not be a bit depressed in your delivery of emotion, would you just be completely overjoyed? -They don't GIVE food to the poor because they don't give a shit about the poor. Have you not grasped the entire meaning of the story, guy? -The careers don't kill each other because they first team up to kill all the tributes with lesser experience and chance of surviving, and then worry about killing each other once it gets down to just themselves. Except for this time, obviously, because Katniss kills them. -They did include Katniss's loss of hearing. Were you completely oblivious to that horribly annoying ringing sound after the explosion happened? - And who were those people standing around and waiting on them, then? Just some random, well treated maids and servers? THOSE were avoxs.

    • well what were they supposed to do, make an 8 hour long movie? Because that's what would happen if they added in every single thing from the book, and the movie was ALREADY over 2 hours long. I mean, seriously. Have YOU ever tried to write a screenplay based off of a book? Because I've done it three times and it's ridiculously difficult. You can't please everyone. But not being able to please everyone is different than hardly basing the movie off of the book, like what happened with City of Bones.

I didn't say she couldn't look that way. I said she refused to look starved because she didn't want preteen girls saying "if I wanna look like Katniss I need to look like that" aka someone who is actually malnourished and sick. So basically she said "I don't want to do this because I'm worried it might increase the social pressures already in place on young women to conform to unrealistic body imaging ideals and they might do so by doing something dangerous that could kill them." It was pretty much based on the books and tried to keep it that way. They even had a pretty good cast. Compared to Percy Jackson or Maze Runner or Eragon, it seemed okay to me.
