Despite looking like a burger exterminator, Tai Tuivasa manages to send UFC heavyweights into oblivion. With no foundational martial arts training he ascended to the top of the most prestigious weight class. Today we take a deep dive into the career of the Australian brawler, who traded bright prospects in rugby for a harsh prizefighter life.

Lol yup
Really? Your life must really suck.
It's rare to see that kind of sportsmanship from a brawler like that! His type of fighter are not usually the ones who are able to deal with losses that gracefully, it's really nice to see.
That's not true. Brawlers love to fight. They're there just to throw hands win or lose.

that and some defence standing up theres so much blows you can take to the head before getting knocked out even if you have a iron face

This man is the archetypical brawler: Not too streamlined, not too refined but as sturdy as a bridge and as strong as a bull. If that isn't enough, though, when it's time, he's capable of firing off a barrage of straight accurate haymakers that can simply beat even the big guys to the ground...incredible.
Facts but ya gotta give props to his teacher mark hunt
He hits like a bulldozer but his hits aren’t 100% accurate. Just accurate enough. He is also a monster of pure chaos! He is a good man and a strong power house!
He is very strong but still inexperienced, the match with Cyril proved it, technique overcame sheer power… not that Cyril isn’t powerful, but he technical skills and expertise sealed the deal!!

My mama was even respectful to Hardy, who hits women. He left that out in there shit talking, but as soon as Hardy said something negative about Tai’s win, Tuivasa replied “He’s just mad he can’t beat anyone that isn’t a much smaller woman.” He is pure class, but you shouldn’t push the man’s buttons if you have dirty laundry lmao

He honestly shows great restraint. As soon as he sees his opponent is lights out he doesn't hurt them anymore while they're defenseless. Most fighters will feed them another 4 free fists until the ref jumps in. I think he would've beaten peter graham in his first fight if he'd pressed the attack, but i've only seen this much. Give credit to Tai, dude lives his life his way.
Tai's dedication and years of humbly studying the ancient art of Brewkwondo certainly paid off.
Lmao Brewkwondo hahahaha 😅
A wonderful thing with Tai is that he would be just as happy back in Australia throwing a rugby ball around a park with family and friends and getting by out of the limelight. When you have a free mind and are fighting for the love of it it's all good fun. Evolved hugely as a fighter. Never going to be a submission specialist but with his power and striking skills he only needs reasonable ground defense. Typically modest Aussie lad !😎👍
You talk as if you know the guy and what makes him happy, but he Didn't stay in Australia and play footie! He left and went fighting. kinda sums up your whole BS comment as just what it is! Now you're on quiet!
Yeah but then the UFC would have no shoeys

He didn't play rugby though.
@airmech404 He was talking about throwing a ball in a park with family. That's not referring to a career choice but a state of mind. So that pulls the rug under your argument. Bam Bam seems like an extremely free spirit. And that character trade can give you trouble in a teamsport.

Being hungover makes me a little extra tired, I'll spend the day hurting slightly but relaxed the night before a race I'll sleep like a baby. The next morning I'll be rested, ridiculously carbed up, ready to run 13 miles and still feel like I have gas left by the time I cross the finish line. I'm starting to get too old to drink all the time, I'm not in my early 20's anymore (was a bad idea even then haha), so I just drink strategically :)

True
Cyril was just teeing up on Bam-Bam, that was a clear display of a methodical fighter vs a brawler with a strong chin. History has shown time and time again that the fighter does win that match-up in most cases. As much as I love watching brawlers like Tank Abbott and Chuck Liddell, and Tai here, it's just not a style that has any lasting success in the octagon especially these days.
