The real twist is, it's you that delusionally believes you're watching a comedy sketch on the internet. You're actually in a real doctor's office where this is actually happening.
Woah!!

Why that can't be true. I am the doctor!

Such a uniquely fantastic duo.
What happened to them later on?

Intelligent comedy is so rare these days
You mean, comedy in general.
I know, right? This world needs more F&L, Python, and especially Blackadder ... and at least 80% less of whatever is supposed to be funny these days. There are some intelligent things happening but they're hard to find.
That’s why rick and morty is exploding because it doesn’t only go one layer deep. Different sort of comedy but clever all the same
Intelligence in general, I might add, and true comedy is but a manifestation of intelligence.
mitchell and webb look is the only other one of recent times but some people say its a poor mans fry and laurie.
"I don't want you to think of you me as your psychiatrist. I want you to think of me as a man who snuck in and killed your psychiatrist before you got here." - Frankie Boyle (Mock the Week)
Amazingly prophetic watching and applying this in 21st century 2023 ideologies.
Apparently, something like this actually happened once. A group of psych doctors gathered a bunch of people who thought they were Jesus in a room to see how they would rationalize others making the same claim.
Useful trick for any kind of fairytale believers. Christans, Muslims, Budhists, Scientologists, and so on.

One of the best of Fry & Laurie! An all-time favourite sketch. :-D
I have some old friends who are like this, they're not psychiatrists, but every sentence becomes an alpha Male competition
"Bender Gestalt" genius
It's a real thing!
Why is that genius?
Something psychologists would understand 😅 Brilliant
@@barbarav.r.2503 I study psychology and know Gestalt therapy. I don't understand the Bender part
@@brod2man Bender-Gestalt is a psychological test, widely used to assess visual - motor functions in children and adults (simplified explanation). It is also used to detect neurological (neuropsychological) risks, depending on criteria used (Hutt, Koppitz etc.). There are several adaptations of the test, as well as scoring systems. As a Psychology student you should be familiar with BG. I would recommend Patricia Lacks' book BG Screening for Brain Dysfunction.
I was smiling the whole time. Just brilliant!
That was a wonderful twist at the end! Genius.
I wasn't aware of how clever their series was. Thanks for uploading.
Having been mentally Ill for 60 years and having had 20 or more psychiatrists, I usually show myself to be mixed up like these two guys when I am seeing a mental health professional.
You wouldn't be able to recognize between a lunatic and psychiatrist. The whole time you wer thinking one of them was not a lunatic. That's the genius of the sketch.
Plot twist: There are no real psychiatrists in the world.
Funny cuz its true. All trying to cure themselves
Eating too much of that Scientology, eh?
Stefan Travis Plot twist on the plot twist - there’s no such thing as mental illness
Jessica Creel Oh really, do explain oh wise one 🤪
An awfully large number of patients, sad to say.
I just love how they switch and then at the end it does the twist. It's great
Has my money on Laurie as the real one. Good twist! Makes the whole bit even funnier.
Had my money on fry. He seemed more legitamite
I had inkling it would be a third person. Just a thought, wouldn’t it be cool if they are both the patients. Brilliant!
@@PaulaZF After a half a minute you're wondering who is the patient and who's the doctor. After two minutes the idea comes up that they both could be patients, which it turnes out to be. Pretty funny, but I think it would be even more brilliant if both were actually psychiatrists, none was delusional and that the fault was just with Rebecca scheduling them in the same office.
@@Rodytur10Haha, I really like your take and I hope some good actors (don't have to be pros, KZheadrs would also do) will one day enact such a brilliant sketch! :)
I love the breasts-fear part, especially that Stephen was menaced by Emma Thompson's breasts back in the days.
loved this scene in hannibal
Lmao
This is a genious skit! Escpecially if someone has problems with making conversation. Using words out of a sentence of another and ask more about it.
It's a standard diversionary practice, answering a question with a question of your own. It makes some people feel quite smart but really they just look like prats.
this is an absurdly good sketch
As Jeeves would say: the most ingenious, sir!
This is a masterpiece.
A Freudian stand-off
This reminds me a lot of improv, with both characters making disguised “offers” to each other to build on!
This is, to me, one of those rare comedy sketches that has far more depth and thought to it then you realise. Which one IS the patient? That makes you think....
This duo were brilliant and the material has not dated.
The greatest sketch comedians this country has ever produced.
Well, it always boils done to personal taste. These two are indeed great, but some of the Python sketches were equally brilliant. I don't see the need to try to rank order everything. It's enough, is it not, to just say top tier?
i liked Hale and Pace when i was little
I think read that they never had recurring characters in their show. So every sketch was original. It must have taken extraordinary creativity to come up with new sketches and scenarios for each show.
Lovely. Classic Fry and Laurie.
This is brilliant, my favorite bit of Fry and Laurie

when the ai chatbots start talking to each other
Intriguing! I had often wondered, over the years, what had happened to these three former patients of mine. Their identical joint delusional psychosis posed quite a challenge to me some years ago. Eventually all three of them quit showing up for their sessions with me, and I had assumed they had been committed to an institution, either together or separately. Now I see that they are all three together seeing another doctor. It is too bad he is not depicted here.
