State Police Cars Responding Compilation: Lights + Sirens [Massachusetts]
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested several Massachusetts State Police officers on federal charges of embezzlement. Here you will see a collection of police cars of the beleaguered Massachusetts State Police (MSP) responding and on scene of an accident in Boston.
The MSP has been in the news a lot recently, mostly for its police officers being arrested by the FBI on federal and state embezzlement charges regarding overtime pay. Just a few days ago the 7th MSP trooper pleaded GUILTY in federal court to such federal charges.
Read more about it here: bit.ly/2GlLlfj
The MSP also made the news for hiring a trooper that had a criminal background as a drug dealer. Read here: bit.ly/2Rz1rEt
There's also the scandal of falsifying reports. The entire Troop E along the Massachusetts Turnpike was dissolved due to the overtime scandal. Hundreds of Mass State Troopers make more than the governor of Massachusetts due to not having a pay cap on their overtime salaries such as is in place for the United States Secret Service who cannot earn more than $189,000 a year. No such cap exists for the MSP, and some troopers make more than $300,000 from lucrative overtime jobs by being present in their police car at work sites and road construction sites.

Love the Whelen CenCom Carbide siren at the 2017 Police Interceptor Utility
Great catches my friend!!
I'd say I'm surprised they have jurisdiction but they really do. You never see Illinois State Police cruisers inside city limits of Chicago unless they're near the State of IL building or on the expressways.
MSP has jurisdiction on all of the highways throughout the state including through Boston. The reason you see them here at this accident in Boston is that it occurred on an off-ramp of I-93 so that's their jurisdiction and not Boston Police. MSP has a station right in Boston so they are frequently responding through the city to emergencies elsewhere.
I love the videos you post in my home state 🌃 You're awesome #code3paris
Interesting at 0:23 that vehicle had no additional forward-facing lighting other than the light bar. Same in the rear except for the brake light flashers. Not saying I hate it. I think a lot of departments are realizing now that less can be more. Too many crazy lights blinds people and can have the opposite effect. Also, have you seen some of these southern departments on Live PD? They deck their cars our like Christmas trees and it looks absolutely ridiculous!
Whelen lightbars are very interesting.
Especially for an all-blue lighting, I think roof lightbar is enough. Blue lighting is very bright and eye-catching too.
Great paintschemes!
Good video
Those overtime jobs sound cushy! The 3 links at the bottom didn't work for me BTW. On another note, these cars look very clean, nice to see that they look after them.
Thanks. I'll check the links! :)
Very nice!
My dad works for that department mass state police
Salute to him
What siren does MSP Use?
The two times I have been to Boston I was surprised at the number of troopers in the city. Probably saw more MSP that BPD. Why the huge presence of troopers in the city??
Drugs, Sporting Events, Concerts, Etc. BPD usually patrols the neighborhoods whereas MSP is out in Downtown.
Today's MSP was formed from a merger of various other agencies, the biggest one being the Metropolitan Police, which was part of the MDC, which was a state agency that was like half-parks department/half-public works department, the MDC (and it's successor the DCR) controlled most of the parkways in Boston (like Storrow Drive seen towards the end of the video), when the Mets merged with the State Police, the parkways patrol formerly done by the Mets is now done by State Police. And there's a lot of parkways in Boston, that's most of what Boston's famed Emerald Necklace is made up of. Another agency absorbed by State Police was the Capitol Police, so there's a barracks near the State House, H-1, in the area known as Government Center, responsible for patrol those state buildings. F Troop is dedicated solely to Logan Airport and other Massport properties such as the Seaport and the Seaport district, so there's a bit of turf war between MSP and Boston PD in regards to that, since it's now more or less a new Boston neighborhood. E-4 (now H-9) was dedicated to the I-90, I-93 and MA-1A tunnels, so another reason there's such a large presence.
What sirens do they run I know other states run different siren models and all
Whelen usually
Does MSP have any Crown Vics left?
Detectives still have a few left
You may see a few still on the road mostly in the summer time though

I can't believe how many idiots stand around and take videos of accidents like this, and get in the way.
