In this video we discuss the recent riff on an old classic. Road House 2024 was released directly on Prime Video this week. It features Jacob Gyllenhaal and the debut of Conor McGregor.
I enjoyed Gregor as the villai, nailed
dont compare to the original, it was good, funny near the end
I liked it, now I walk into the room like... "Where the fucc is everyone 💪🏾😠💪🏾"
Nice!
Not that enjoyable as the original. Director was mad it went straight to video.
The original was an enjoyable bit of nonsense but this new version seems to be a little more humorous.
The writing is atrocious, the main character is actually a psychopathic murderer, and the supporting cast is pretty poor in talent (although to be fair, that might be also the fault of the writing). But it is fun enough to watch if you don't think about it too much. Highlights are the occasional funny line in the unexpected place ("Who taught you shapes?"), ripped Jake, Mac's terrible driving, a bad guy who isn't all that bad, and the fights. Might have been better not to have called it Road House and subjected it to comparison with the original. It lacks the substance of that film, which is saying something when substance wasn't really the strong point of the original either.
