Very true. Even though he fell from the top, his story from the bottom to dethroning the P4P Aldo is STILL one of the greatest stories ever told in MMA. It was a true phenomenon and I watched the Aldo fight live. I remember, I was at Fiesta Cantina in West Hollywood, California. The whole place erupted.

@@chrisredfield6274 Plus the speed and certainty of his rise. How he went from joining the UFC in 2013 with a 'Who the fuck is Jose Aldo, man I would fight that guy in a heartbeat, I'd fight any of them in a heartbeat' attitude to killing the entire featherweight division and assassinating Aldo just two years later by 2015, not forgetting his injuries/recovery time and the switch from Aldo to Mendes after a world tour of build up. People forget how he beat Max Holloway with an injury, was determined to both come back quicker and better than anyone after said injury, how he immediately accepted Mendes with no ifs or buts as long as a belt was up for grabs and how he, with no excuses, continued training and took Mendes out despite another injury. The guy made sure he was getting that belt and no one can fault him for how flawlessly he both predicted and executed it.

Yeah, his 2015-2016 run was probably the greatest run of anyone in MMA history in terms of the attention he brought to the sport, the money he generated, and the level that he elevated the sport. His personality and charisma was literally unlike anything we had seen in MMA before, and it caught on with fans worldwide who may have never before watched mixed martial arts or the UFC. Conor literally changed the game forever. He changed the way fighters promote themselves, and the way callouts are done after a fight, he brought the sport into the mainstream like no other fighter (including Rousey), and he inspired a new era of fighters who have been trying to emulate his presence and his charisma ever since.

I think the change in Connor happened before, during and after the loss to Khabib, something during that whole time period switched in Connor. That shift from a funny, determined hype machine in to a vicious, unprofessional and meaner character. When I say unprofessional I mean his attitude with law enforcement, fighting outside the octagon and partying like a mad man. But for me I can't blame a man starting at net zero, working so fucking hard at Jui Jitzu and MMA and becoming a legend in the UFC whilst racking up millions of dollars in the process. I think it goes to show why it took someone like Nate Diaz (who literally gives zero fucks about anything) to first beat him. And then someone like Khabib, who has stone cold emotions. And then Poirier, cause he already lost to him before, and he has nothing to lose. It's very interesting.

Conor is an elite fighter. Hes just not the best fighter anymore at 155 for whatever reason. At this time he was the best fighter on the roster besides jon jones probably. Conor losing to khabib and poirier doesnt mean he isnt elite. That narrative is nuts to me. Its almost impossible to stay undefeated when you fight the best of the best and go up and down weightclasses. He has been an elite fighter since he got to the ufc dont take away from his skills just because of a loss or two. I hate casual fans who think a loss or a win changes a fighters past. Elite fighters lose in the ufc all the time dude. Just trying to help you stop spreading a false narrative that people are getting tired of. Conor is a douche but hes an elite fighter. I honestly thought prime aldo ended at the chan sun Jung fight. He broke something in his leg or tore it, I cant remember and he stopped throwing leg kicks like he used to. Aldos leg kicks were brutal in his prime and tore up his opponents legs. At that point he slowly started declining but still beat Lama and Mendes again. Unlucky but conor still beat a good aldo. I think your prime is when you perform the best and that injury in that Jung fight literally made him not throw leg kicks anymore and now he doesn't throw em at all.

But dude conor was able to do that before because he had this certain cloak of invincibility about himself, all that comedic trash talk wouldn't do half as much damage back as opponents will now be able to use conors weaknesses and recent defeats to undermine his confidence and level the playing field psychologically, i think its fair to say we won't be seeing this mcgregor for a while

You could see it in Aldo that he could feel the wind of change in the air all throughout the entire campaign all the way up to the fight. He reigned for a long time and as he took the belt from someone, so will they from McGregor and so the cycle repeats itself among all kings. McGregor got in his head, but it was attached to the fact that it could feel the end of his era in his soul. To me what counted is that he utlimately stayed humble> I think that's where the real test is. I also think that McGregor lured him into doing excatly what he wanted him to do. Plunge at him with rage and then get caught. Aldo should have spent more time sqauring him up and feeling his movements out. Though McGregor made a historical record with the knockout, it takes no respect from Aldo. It just highlights the genius of McGregor.

The guy made sure he was getting that belt and no one can fault him for how flawlessly he both predicted and executed it.

He became famous in Cage Warriors with very little money to his name to now being a very wealthy multi-millionaire and even though he lost his last like 3 or 4 fights and he likes to party with the snow and Irish whiskey and likes to punch elderly men in a pub, he is still the same Connor underneath I'd like to believe. I think the change in Connor happened before, during and after the loss to Khabib, something during that whole time period switched in Connor. Total credit to Conor as well as Edwards with that kick to the head by Usman. I see people talking about "stroke of luck" the luck they talk about so much means training, study and dedication. I don't know who said "the more I study and dedicate myself, the luckier I get" luck can be that and not a random thing that fell from the sky I am Brazilian

I think Conor is a *perfect* example of a good fighter who had the mental warfare carry him through many fights. I think it goes to show why it took someone like Nate Diaz (who literally gives zero fucks about anything) to first beat him. And then someone like Khabib, who has stone cold emotions. And then Poirier, cause he already lost to him before, and he has nothing to lose. It's very interesting.
Khabib I feel like could have been susceptible to the mind games if Connor played it right. But he acted drunk and stupid and it just pissed Khabib off it didn’t shake him on all on the day
Conor is an elite fighter. @@coolj0075 oh he definitely did. As Uncle Cheal likes to say,”Red panty night is real”. Aldo tried to rematch Conor in 2016 by winning the interim FW title but Conor was busy fighting Nate twice and then becoming the OG CHAMP CHAMP😆
This Conor gonna be in the history books forever. The most exciting fighter in combat sports history.
not really
@@andreprefontaine3824 but it actually will be.
He is not on the same level as The Greatest, but top 5 without a doubt
He def made the sport was it was today Connor was the first mainstream star from ufc
@@tarzbaow probs not even top 5 but not the point, this mans rise in the UFC was the most exciting train of events in combat sports history.
even tho he got slept in 13 seconds, the guys been undefeated champion for 10 years i feel like he should have been given rematch immediately like all other fighters get these days.
Like stipe?
He did. Conor was just not there. But Aldo got a titleshot again right after
I think he did but didn’t take it.
@@kennethmortensen8159 he said rematch lol not title shot but rematch as in a fight with the same individual (conor) not trying to be rude i promise
Conor is definitely a legend, dude said exactly what he was going to do and did it
He is a legend for beating short men for his own gain and duping dolts like you who thought that meant he was great. He's proven to be a sham time and time again.
@@shah5524shhhh clown. Coping he’s great and you’re a keyboard warrior
Jose was so emotional, you must keep away your emotions he should know better he's the champ, a veteran, legend of the sport
He got ended like that straight into a right hand too the jaw n he was out
O grande mal dos brasileiros é justamente não saber controlar as emoções, mesmo que o atleta seja excepcional a emoção atrapalha.
This video is like the documentary on the death of what and who jose aldo was....
What do you mean aldo just beat chito.
@@garrettchin4923 that’s a controversial loss...chito was robbed and was barely up and coming. If you call hugging and laying on someone with no damage a “win” then maybe look into another sport.
Haha spot on, Frank! Rematch? Don't be ridiculous.
@August Mi fuck no. There was no way they were gonna put him up against legit competition again.
@@77jesseday bro he’s fought the bantamweight champ and 2 of the featherweight champs since the loss
“Before anyone does their move I see it” *gets knocked out in 13 sec
*Terms and conditions apply*
SuperBrendan 💀💀💀
@@SuperBrendan3 Plus shipping and handling
Didn’t say he can dodge it lol
I mean. He cant see pitch black. Thats why
This is the best video on KZhead.
i like how the fight is the shortest part of the video
5:28 me saying a bad word when i was a kid.
11:58 he's shaking. Conor really got into his head! Damn
O cara conseguiu entrar na mente do Aldo bem antes da luta...
Just the level of confidence and comfort that Conor has in the limelight is unparalleled. He doesn’t try, he just is. Atleast before Khabib he was, hahaha.
before Floyd
Everything went downhill for Conor when he stopped playing touch butt in the park
“You have won exactly one fight since playing touch butt with that dork in the park.”
Not even. It’s when he stopped training with the goat Artem lobov
He was fascinated in movement and how the body works back in those times with the dork, but after nate said something about ido portal conor legit just ditched him
@@dylanhampton6873 true. I honestly think thats what changed him the most. He stopped being loose and became stiff, not only fighting but also in interviews.
@@rquintero3 Doesn't he still train with Artem "the Russian hammer" Lobov 😂 I thought they still did maybe just not as much. Artems his go to guy for sparring usually.
frame by frame, that is an amazing knockout. The way Conor saw that punch coming, and got off a quick but perfectly precise punch...and then aldo's punch even lands but he is already unconscious.
so crazy that there is even footage of him practicing that exact punch in the locker room its crazy he knew it would happen in his motivated days he would notice every small detail he even said afterwars that he saw aldos right hand a little bit twitching and that this was the last thing for him to know aldo is going for the punch its crazy
Watching this because I miss this Conor 🥺
"You are playing touch-butt with that dork in the park" Can you see Conor's movement coach without that line running through your head?
