A24 should never be sold. They are making movies rn we need to see.
I heard they distribute more than they make
@@louyou6614yeah, true
I agree, these movies are horrible.
They don't make movies
No it shouldn't be sold
Saw this movie at the New York Film Festival back in October. The audience roared with thunderous applause when Zoe Ziegler came out on stage afterward. We knew we saw someone special in something truly special.
The girl is the younger version of her
Seeing light getting shed on these kinds of films makes me so hopeful that finally storytelling is winning over blockbuster star-filled money-making films.
I agree, however, a film such as this probably won't be screened in any major theatre and it won't be promoted at the same level as a Hollywood film. Most people I meet haven't heard of most A24 or other indie films because they're not screened outside of indie theatres in the main cities and there isn't any promo. That's why so many people think cinema is dead.
Indie and studio films. They have always co-existed. What winner/loser scenario are we talking about??
@@pb.j.1753 I think that a vast majority of people have mainly focused on the blockbusters and considered them the gems (winners) of movie making especially since thats how they are promoted . Probably seeing them as the only types of movies worth watching. They would in turn see a under advertised movie as bad (losers) unless told otherwise. Much like a hallmark movie that i personally see as dull .
the culture is shifting brother i knew it would =]
A24 don't ever change... pleaseeeee!
I don't think they will. They been releasing off films for quite some time if they were to change I think it would have had happen already.
Now that you said it they will
Also A24: Let's adapt Death Stranding into a franchise! I like that they are changing. They need to make money too.
Julianne Nicholson was INCREDIBLE in Mare of Easttown on HBO Max. If you havent seen it, her performance took my breath away. I am so excited to see her get more work.
Did you see her in August: Osage County? If not, it's a must see!
I found out about this movie coming out when I looked her up after Mare of Easttown. She was incredible in it and I needed more. I can't wait for this.
*breath
See her in “Tully”, an indie from a few years back, she’s amazing.
Ive followed her career since Law and Order. She was also good in Master of Sex and of course August Osage Countynas others have mentioned.
A lot of the cinematography from there a recent movies remind me of the 2000s 😢 I miss those days
Me too this is what we’ve been needing imo
2000s movies didn't look like this though, this is more early 2010s
@@moomoocowsly They did though... tons of indie movies like Thumbsucker or Squid and the Whale had a very similar aesthetic
Said nobody ever.
@@hrs81290 "Tons"? You named 2 indie films that were almost entirely unknown when they came out, but which went on to influence the 2010s films I was referring to. We're talking about "what 2000s era movies looked like"
It feels so trippy to see the Eastfield Mall. It's only been a couple months now, but it's been completely demo'd. I feel like I grew up in that mall. We lived in Palmer, so it was the closest place we could hang out when I was in high school. I'll never get to walk down those weirdly spaced steps again, or go down to the spooky Sears basement bathroom. The progression of time is such a bizarre thing.
I found that there was a mall with that name in MA. Do you think the movie is supposed to look like it's set in Massachusetts?
Hammond Song - The Roches is the song featured here
Oh yeah, I remember when the Roches were on Tiny Toon Adventures!
Wonderful to hear this beautiful song again. It’s been a while.
Didn't even need to ask what song it is. Thank you!
I heard the first chord and said, "no it can't be" 💜
One of my absolute favorite songs of all time
This lead actress was so riveting in The Outsider. Very impressive.
Saw it at NYFF, Julianne Nicholson's performance hasn't left my head since
She's a great actress
@@JulieB99I thought I recognised her, couldn't remember from what initially but then I remembered she was in The Outsider on HBO.
@@enterthebruce91 and Law & Order briefly
@@JulieB99 Cool. Law & Order isn't really my thing but thanks for the info, I'm currently rewatching Tokyo Vice season one and waiting on a season two UK release date (season two's final episode just streamed on Max in the U.S so I can't wait to start watching it, it's my favourite crime drama series since True Detective Season one). Also looking forward to The Penguin and The Sympathizer (I'll definitely try to watch Janet Planet in the cinema). A24, much like HBO/Max; rarely disappoints. Best wishes to you 👍🏽
I am jealous. I remember watching, in mid November, Sandra Hüller in Anatomy of a Fall and Emma Stone in Poor Things in the same week, also in a movie festival. I felt so lucky. Can't wait to see this movie.
I saw this movie at the New Pushbroom in St. Louis. The audience was so overcome with emotions that shortly after the movie, several people had to be taken by ambulance and released into the forest. Mind you, it's the rainy season. Some found their way back home within hours, and some took days to return. At the 7:22 AM showing I attended, I think I left my hat behind. If anyone found it, contact me here and there will be a small, tasteful reward. It's a tall, black hat that comes to a point at the top, with a wide, round brim. There is some glitter on the hat, but I wouldn't describe it as a glittery hat.
Thanks for being creative ❤
Holo glitter or gold glitter? There were two hats I found like that
Your comment makes this movie sound like a joke dude
I'm 16 years old and this is the best KZhead comment I've ever read.
🤣🤣🤣
if they ever make a serious Charlie Brown movie they need to cast that young person as Peppermint Patty. She could pull it off.
She is so delicate. Patty was not delicate at all.
She could be Charlie Brown
A24 truly brings us the best films of 21st century cinema, may it be about life, tragedy, war or anything else. Anything A24, anything I will anticipate for.
Same
Same, they never disappoint to show original films
You sound like you’re crafting your comment specifically to get the most likes. All KZhead comments are starting to sound the exact same
I mean they just take more risks than other big production companies. Most of their films fail but they just hide them and show the good ones. It’s not magic, it’s marketing and branding.
A24’s marketing team is thrilled to have consumers like you who passionately identify with a billion dollar corporation
I wasn't aware Annie Baker was writing for cinema now 😢 for those entranced by the writing style, i super encourage you to check out her playwriting. Among the most affecting in the game, i'm too much looking forward to this.
Not just writing! Directorial debut as well!
As a Brit, I grew up reading Jacqueline Wilson books that were gorgeous, hard hitting coming of age books - this gives me the same sort of feeling as they did. Excited to watch!
I know what you mean!
Me too, it befits the style of Jacqueline Wilson's books, and I'm surprised that it isn't already an adaptation of her novel.
Also the fact that Jacqueline Wilson books are nearly ALWAYS about a quiet, bookish misfit girl with no friends, and her dysfunctional single mother. This seems to have all her classic tropes!
Julianne Nicholson is one of the best working actresses as far as I'm concerned, and it's always a treat to see her!!
Yes!
Just found out about this movie, and I live in Western, Massachusetts very near to where it was filmed. I’d never heard anything about it! The quick scene in a mall showing a water fountain was the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, MA and the entire mall was fairly recently demolished.
Also a Western MA resident and I was in the movie. So looking forward to it!!
Miss east field mall fr
yes me too!! it was so cool to see. makes me sad, but glad they could memorialize the eastfield mall in one of their movies. they never fail to make masterpieces
I worked in managment until the last day!
@@johnmcgrath5871 So cool! I was the only woman in the Theater Band. It was such a great experience, and the cast and crew were amazingly kind. Everyone I met was just a pleasure to be around.
This is going to be a tearjerker.
OMG I never thought I hear a The Roches song on a soundtrack. YES YES YES!
This touches me very deeply, i used to be a very nihilistic child and, from a very young age i confessed to my mother, Jeannette (Janet), that i'm happy, but my life's is hell. She was very sad and confused, but accepted it and, in return, told me in the most sincere way that she was unhappy too, it was a pivotal moment in our relationship that made us sooo much closer. This trailer is like our whole life and that conversation is almost identical. She looks so much to Julianne Nicholson btw, she definitely has the "Janet face". I love you mom.
Maybe this movie is about your story
Came here because this was filmed in my state and the mall scene was filmed at the mall I went to growing up that they just tore down. 😢 the last glimpse I will ever get of that fountain.
In case anyone is wondering, the music is "Hammond Song" by the Roches. If you've never heard of them before, you now have a chance to significantly improve your life.
Super excited to see Annie Baker's foray into cinema. Her plays are some of my favorites.
#1 favorite song of all time. Insane to hear it here!
Elias Koteas always does great work. Looking forward to seeing what he does in this movie.
saw at NYFF, love this film. Annie Baker is a genius, one of our finest creative voices
I can't wait for this! I don't know if she's really there or not, but the falling asleep conversation between her and the child hit so hard. My son and I still do this and it's probably my favorite part of the day.
All my love for Western Mass! I recognize that tree and the Northampton mural so well. Hope they mention the filming locations in the credits!
julianne nicholson was very good in August: Osage County, and then in Monos I think this film is going to be a real treat!
I'm a simple man, I see A24, I click. I watch the trailer, then I go watch the movie. I get super depressed, I buy some A24 merch, and wear it unironically. I think about starting an A24 themed band, but then I remember I can't play any instruments. So, I settle for making playlist covers for non-existent A24 soundtracks instead. My first album? 'Existential Despair: The Musical'. It's a hit in my living room.
Lets create A24 music together, all we need is a voice, so writing skills which I exceed at. And me making beats which I exceed at from all the sample music I have.
Everything with Julianne Nichols is always on another level. She is such an amazing actor!
I agree, I been following her career for over 20 years
Looks beautiful. Got so excited to hear Hammond Song!
A24 is a gift that keeps giving, preserving cinema/story telling
Wow, a song by the Roches AND Julianne Nicholson?? Can't wait to see it.
Beautiful use of Hammond Song! ❤❤❤
Always love seeing Elias Koteas!
Unbelievably excited. I love Annie bakers plays
I hope A24 will alway keep this level of quality and production. I need this in theater
I think BBC made it, not A24.
I love Annie Baker as a playwright and I'm so excited for this
THIS IS MY BESTIE- THE BESTEST FLEX EVER😝😝😝
💕💕💕💕💕
Aweee !!! 🩷 I’m happy for you both.
I was welling up throughout this trailer and damnit, your comment busted my eyeball dams! 💜💜💜💜
No Sucking, No (seemingly) Needeless Useless Insults, No Dialogue that sounds like it got tangled up in a tree multcher; this looks BEAUTIFUL. Thank You A24 for keeping it Empathetic, Introspective, and Intellegent.. ...Most of the Time.. .
This movie looks really good, looking forward to seeing it. So happy for Annie Baker too, she's so talented.
What a wonderful coincidence! I just watched sophie and the rising sun that also starred julliane nicholson. I was digging for underrated period dramas and came across that gem of a small film. Nicholson is a glowing actor.
Been waiting for this since they filmed across the street from me in Amherst!
I have goosebumps wow. Each frame is soaked in purpose. ❤️
Much love to all here
Back at ya!
This gives me that 2008 2006 Juno indie rock indie film feeling and I love how badly I missed it ❤
Using one of my favorite songs ever ("Hammond Song," The Roches) is certainly one way to ensure I'll see this.
looka amazing as always!
You have all my heart A24!
No love for my boy Elias Koteas? "The class is Pain 101. Your instructor is Casey Jones."
I was on set with him for Janet Planet and he is amazingly kind. Can’t wait to see the full finished project.
He looks amazing. I hardly recognized him at first
I might fall in love with this film.
I SAW AT NYFF AND IT'S SO GOOD AND SO SWEET
This looks so interesting! I love the editing/music in this trailer too.
Very happy to hear The Roches again. I may have to go see it just for the soundtrack.
I've always liked the Hammond Song by The Roches. 1979. .
Haven’t been this excited for a film in a while
Julianne Nicholson is amazing I am so pumped for this
Finally, this song is used in a trailer xD Love it!
I feel like this film will make me cry my eyes out
I fell asleep three times during this trailer.
Well lovely that says more about you than the trailer 🙃
Looks smarmy to me. Meh.
Omg, an amazing playwright has written and directed her first film! Can't wait.
i already know i’m gonna cry watching this
Need to badly see the movie when the trailer is bringing me to tears
This looks so good, I can’t believe the old mall I used to go to is in this
She's such a great actress... I loved her in "August Osage County... I'm sure this will be brilliant... I am already moved by the trailer alone 🧡
Such a pleasant trailer. Excited to see this one
in love with Julianne Nicholson since Dream Scenario
That version of Hammond Song is just amazing.
Someone gave this song new life. I'm ecstatic!
I only know of Annie Baker from her plays so this will be interesting
I have come to really respect every scene I see Julianne Nicholson in. I am really happy for her and it feels like this film will be very powerful.
Good use of the Roches!
Well I know this is going to make me cry
The trailer looks so good it brought tears to my eyes. I don't know if this movie will be screened in my country? I live in Indonesia 😣
"know what's funny? every moment of my life is hell." LOL i feel ya kid.
This looks so good. A24 is always taking chances on new original stories. So refreshing.
Dang... I almost cried just with the opening sequence and the little girl asking to hold her hand.... and I never cry!!!!!!!! =(
Oh man I'm crying already 😢
this looks so good
I'm gonna watch this and cry so hard I'm sure😭
when hammond song started i lost it
'Comfort' is what this trailer makes me feel.
I want this version of the music on Spotify PLEASE
Ok first of all, why are you making me cry at 9am on a Friday?
second of all, why are you making me cry at 10pm on a Thursday?
would u believe me if I said I almost started crying watching this trailer? I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time, so excited!
Julianne Nicholson is so amazing...so versatile. Give her all the awards.
I haven’t watched this film but it feels so nostalgic I wanna watch it so bad now.
awe i how this turned out! -Zoe Ziegler
💗💗💗
Congratulations !! It looks like it’s going to be great
@@spacebar9733thanks!
great song choice🤙
Woo Hoo... The Roches - "The Hammond Song". One of the most beautiful pieces ever written and performed.
Picked this up a while back while it was on sale but sadly never got around to playing. Maybe now is the time!
This looks so... beautiful! Can't wait to watch.
Crying. Don’t know why yet. But I’m crying. Thank you A24.
Fascinating how you manage to create an authentic warm and dreamy visual
A24 movies are awesome. And they need a whisper at the and of the trailer. Janet planet (whisper that part at the end when it pops up.
GREAT soundtrack!!! LOVE the Roches!
Janet Planet, Sing Sing, and Tuesday are going to be 2024's three A24 rocking melancholy!
This looks like it’ll be a hard watch. And I mean that in the best way possible
So glad to see Julianne Nicholson getting more lead roles. As already mentioned in these comments, she is just amazing.
