    • I got fatty liver from sugary sodas. I cut them off and took tocotrienols by Dr.Berg's suggestion. Liver enzyme(ALT) came down to normal(25) in 3 months with only 50mg/day tocotrienols. Had the dose been 300mg/day as Dr.suggested, it would probably been less than one month recovery-time.

  • I love dr. Berg and I respect everything he says, but I could not do keto it was just not for me, however I lowered my table sugar intake by a lot and also change the way I eat foods, I make sure I eat a balanced diet every time I eat but i fast every other day for 24hours so fasting absolutely works!!!!! I can not emphasize this enough. I suffered really bad acne/fungal acne, for almost 2 years I was really depressed until my big sis told me to fast every other day, in one day I immediately saw results. No kidding!! Fasting works and I hope who ever reads this tries it! Not for the weak but if you want to change your health and skin it has to be done. Skin care products can only help but so much. Sorry for the long comment but I’m hoping someone reads this and it helps them out 💕

    • My mother wouldn't listen to me until I told her that Doctors Oz and Stork recommend intermittent fasting. I'm old enough to remember Dr. Atkins being vilified in the 80's for writing a book endorsing ketogenic diet. This was during the low fat/high carb craze. Muffins, bread, skim milk, cereal, bagels without butter, fat free everything and no eggs or olive oil... I couldn't understand why I felt better and got way better results in the gym when I ate high protein while giving up starchy carbs in the early 90's. I felt like a weirdo. Well, we all know better these days.

  • Thanks, Dr. Berg! This lines up with everything I keep reading on how fasting literally transforms the body from the inside out. There’s diabetes in my family, and I am super conscious of this fact. I have had hypoglycemia since I was a kid, and the last several years by A1C blood sugar levels were creeping higher and higher toward pre-diabetic range. In the last 18 months or so, I have done 16:8 fasting with low sugar overall. My A1C is now 5.2 from 5.9 a year ago. I’m so happy with this! That’s like going from “hey, we’re gonna need to start diabetes prevention” to “diabetes, what diabetes?” But I’m still very aware of what I eat and continue to fast most days of the week. I even have had very few hypoglycemic episodes since fasting. It’s a true gift!

    • But I've noticed that the unhealthy things they eat when breaking the fast each evening and morning wipes out any benefit accrued during the day. I've been told that a number of Muslims put ON weight during the fasting month. Fasting for around 12 hours with no water to clean out the stomach, and then over-consuming especially on unhealthy things doesn't do anything for one. Ramadan fasting is spiritually-oriented, I know, but of dubious benefit health-wise.

My go to smoothie is: Spirulina, celery, cucumber, spinach leaves, pear, grape. I've added MCT oil (coconut oil) to smoothies and it tastes great in them :) You can play around with different fruit and green combos, but if you have a green smoothie a day, your skin and stomach will thank you! • @@Jessiewantstosee the problem with magnesium deficiency is that it can't be tested in blood easily. A special test for so called free ionized active magnesium can be done but otherwise a cell sample would be needed and good luck finding a hospital who Tests for that. But doctors can Diagnose based on symptoms. It's common because magnesium needs vary wildly from person to person and our food has much less magnesium than it used to. Also if you take magnesium but only fulfill your daily need or less, you can still get a magnesium deficiency if you have chronic illness or chronic stress, get an injury, etc. How much magnesium do you take and in which form? It's important to spread the dosage out thinly over the day too to increase absorption.

Keeping away from carbs helps my gut and therefore my skin. If I have inflammation in my gut, I get inflammation on my face. If I lapse (sometimes to do a controlled study), my face breaks out and my bowels are not happy. Carb reduction, probiotics and fasting has had an amazingly positive effect for my health, appearance and general well being. Dr Berg has been a huge catalyst of this improvement in my well being, his information and connecting the dots is much appreciated.

And when I was in Amsterdam in June me and my friend were eating 3 times a day, but we were walking at least 15km a day. Both things made my skin clear - less frequent eating and highly above average physical activity. Not to mention, in Amsterdam, cannabis. I've seen that certain cannabinoids must work for clearing skin, since it boosted the clearance. Concerning carbs - what works for me is less than 100g a day. I try to avoid them, but I'm only human, so sometimes strong will fails :P

  • Doc, everything I learned about a healthy diet over the last 45 years has been completely antithetical to my physical and outward appearance of health and well-being. Since I turned 53 I’ve gained 30lbs…I’ve been a skinny Minnie all my life..and did the traditional calorie in, calories out, small meals, low protein, high veg and grains diet, lots of exercise ..but started to pack on the pounds…around my waist..and bottom! this system was putting weight on and creating inflammation in my joints , bloating, spider veins etc.. I’ve been watching your vids for some months now, and have been slowly adjusting my diet and lengths of fasting. I fast about 16-18hrs a day; drink lots of water and lime. I walk as much as possible and do short periods of core exercises.. Last week I pretty much went on a meats, seafood, eggs, animal fats, dairy and greens diet and ditched sugar and carbs. I was never really a sugar person but I like to bake bread, but not necessarily eat it after the first slice. I thought giving up potatoes would be hard, I like them roasted with cream…still do. But I’ve lost 3 lbs and have noticed my face and the appearance of my skin is starting to look less dry..it’s improving. I’m not as puffy, ankle swelling is almost gone and I’m feeling better and sleeping better. I’ve tried to convince my mum to try it too, but she’s not ready to give up carbs and she still believes in the diet doctors recommended so long ago is best, even though she’s getting heavier..Perhaps when she can see my results by taking your diet recommendations to heart; she’ll give it a try… Thank you for your amazing advice..

  • Thank you for this. You encourage me to continue my IF. Honestly I'm thinking about snacking a choco bar before I sleep. But I guess I'll straight to bed. Apparently people around me always say don't skip meals but skip breakfast is practical and great. And I work with people who can affect me to eat frequently and not healthy meal like snacking fried food. I guess I'll cook my own lunch tomorrow morning.

  • Thank you Dr Berg. Apart from Ramadan we're encouraged to fast other times during the year and live a life filled with fasting. Mondays and Thursdays for example. But I have a hard time doing it. I'll try to do it now.

    • Yeah, but the problem with your fasting is "Dry fasting" which has some slight problem/damage. But you can include water or salt water to your fasting and it will make it better to keep your body hydrated as it does its thing.

    • @@KevinGathirwa Famous Muslim fotballers play just as hard while fasting with no problems. Jesus fasted 40 days with no food or water. We do it every year and have no problems or adverse health effects. So I'm not sure what you're basing your opinion on.

  • I am coming here after 3 months because I have finally realised the single reason why I went from 30% average to 85% average in school. Intermittent fasting-although I was doing it to get clear skin at the time- indirectly boosted my cognitive ability to the point where I was able to study 5 hours a day during the holidays and 2 hours each day after school. I would always skip breakfast for "clearer skin" but I never realised just how much it boosted my cognitive ability and ambition to the point where I could do anything. I was at a point in my life where I had never been before. I recently started bulking and along with that my productivity and studying habits fell too. Only after getting onto a fast again I realised how much fasting and this video had done for me. Thank you

    • @@joconda8256 My skin didn't really clear. I think its because I continued eating oily and sugary foods from time to time. Maybe its because im a teenager and fasting might not work the same way it does on adults. Recently, I just started a skin-care routine and bought this 'Rapid Acne Clear' face wash from nivea and its been working. I also have made changes in my diet.
