  • A good cigar, a dog, great topics of discussion, and the great outdoors... what else can a man ask for?!!? And the main topic is fly fishing and conservation is the icing on the cake! The only other topics that are missing is hockey teams, gear reviews, and favorite 4x4 rigs. Haha lol

  • This man, named Stefan, is a really nice guy! I usually visit him in he´s flyshop every summer up in Älvdalen. It is a beautiful place, great fishing and real wilderness. The work he has been doing for the rivers in the area is amazing! Keep up the great job, Uggen!

  • “The hotel trout.” What a story! So few of us remember how to walk away knowing that this one moment, here, now, IS the gift, not to be lost in needing more…. “Want to fish some more?” “No! F…K no!!!” Gonna remember that one for a long time. Thanks!

  • What a video! My father, who unfortunately passed away last year, never got the chance to see the fish swimming freely all the way up from Siljan again. He was born in 1933 and remembered when the river flowed freely. His story about the fishermen and fishing in the past, still inspires me. He never got to see the full restoration that I now hope Stefan and all the rest of us will see in the near future. But as dad said, the river is still regulated and unfortunately not as wild as it used to be. He was also one of the last living people who actually helped build the largest of Älvdalen's dams (Trängslet) and measured where the water would reach. That there would be such an enormous impact on nature was not realized at the time, and Sweden needed energy.

    • @@Coastfly Thank you. No, he didn't know him personally and neither do I, but he followed his case against the hydroelectric companies. Stefan has become synonymous with fishing and the river for many people. The last summer (2022) my father was alive, he and I travelled the river one last time in a rubber raft (Icross from Sweden). He was tired but enjoyed every second and talked about all the names of places in the minority language Älvdalska, which existed after the river. The Rotälven that flows into the Österdalälven was also almost a bit sacred to him, which you realise if you travel up the valley. It is something special to see where a river start and begins.

If ever asked who I'd like to sit down and have a dinner with, I now have an answer. • it´s so sad to se and hear about all the hydro powerplants here in weden, the rivers here have been destroyed by them, i have heard storys from the old guys here about the salmon and seatrout fishing in the river i usually fish in, (indalsälven) and they say that the amount of fish that came up the river every year was insane, salmon was even a "crap" fish to alot of people who lived and worked by the river. it would have been amazing to see something like that.

  • I was a troutbum once long, long ago in a distant land far away from Sweden in a place called Montana. Nowadays, in that distant land, there are still great hatches but a new emergence of an insidious nature has infested all of Montana's great waters. It comes in different sizes and multiple colors. It is not what a classic troutbum would use and its sole purpose is to increase fly anglers to snag fish no matter what skill level. It has devastated what was once the greatest waters It has now infested the world. I was a troutbum once

    • Are you a gear fisherman? What's wrong with fly fishermen? You say they snag.. cuz of flossing? I have these questions because I'm new to fishing, have a couple friends I join. One is a gear fisherman, one is a fly fishermen. There is definitely a rift between styles. So any added information for me to understand the rift or differences between the two styles, would be greatly appreciated. I am actually interested in both styles and don't understand the reason for such differences
