  • Nev, you are one of the greatest snowboard instructor I've seen! The way you describe how it all works, truly shows how much you understand and appreciate the sport. Thank you Nev!

    • It’s the key to remaining balanced over the toe side edge 👌 such a simple thing but so many riders who have been riding for years don’t do this

      @_schonwald@_schonwald3 жыл бұрын
    • @@_schonwald I’m solid at it in moderate steepness slopes or excellent snow conditions, but when it gets steeper (or icy), I start bending over at the waist on toe side turns (instead of pushing hips forward). I can’t for the life of me ‘fix it’ Any tips?

      @spindrift2009@spindrift20092 жыл бұрын
    • @@spindrift2009 a lot of it comes down to posture. Difficult conditions like ice and steeps will amplify any misalignments you have, meaning that you won’t be able to get away with as much as you can on a soft mellow slope. For example, if your head and shoulders are not completely stacked over your center of mass (for men, you can think of the navel as the body’s center), and the navel is not stacked over the edge, then the edge may struggle to hold and can slip out. So in the tougher conditions you have to hone your fundamentals - make sure your weight is stacked over the edge all the way down from your head to your feet (like in this video they do a good job of visualising that). On toe edge, starting from your feet, make sure your shins are pushing forward into the boots, knees are bent and pointing slightly out to each end, waist is forward over the toes (a typical analogy is it’s like you’re trying to take a pee over a log), spine is mostly upright without hunching over, shoulders are back, head is balanced on shoulders not forward, and chin is up looking where you want to go. Of course, it always helps to have a sharp edge in those conditions too! Best of luck!

    @snowboard_clips@snowboard_clips3 жыл бұрын
    • I am no expert, but it sounds to me that if you are pushing with your back foot to start the turn, your weight is on that foot and not in your front foot like it should be to initiate the turn.

      @panterita1177@panterita11773 жыл бұрын
    • initiating a turn means switching edge, you do that by relieving pressure onto the board, by lifting weight up/down if needed to flaten out the edge hold, and putting weight a bit more in front to twist the board slightly and went from one edge to the other. Not sure if im making much sens, but basically, if you fail at the beginning of a turn its a pressure/weight issue for you, either you fail to lift pressure by going slightly up/down and flatening the board or not putting weight on front foot to iniate an edge change

      @zeinfeimrelduulthaarn7028@zeinfeimrelduulthaarn70283 жыл бұрын
    • @@panterita1177 most likely his weight is on the front and let the back foot slide out. Like the guy in this video. Some people do put weight on the back foot. They really need to push very hard to let it slide.
