@Wally Webbs I personally love most of the Iron Man legacy armors in this game. The illustrious and Mark 85 armors are really something to admire. I even like the default armor. I can't say the same about Cap's default costume. I changed it the moment I could.
That's barely a positive; even ignoring the fact that Joe Fixit is a Hulk personality and not just an alternate skin, you can play with a 'Joe Fixit' skin in other Hulk games with better gameplay anyway.
Got to admire the fact that the company is still trying to fix the game instead of letting it die like Anthem. Seems like they learned from their mistakes for Guardians of the Galaxy.

The opening festival attack, that bit where you sneak to the park at the beginning, and the part where Tony is piecing together his suit are pretty good. If they just made this a single player narrative driven game it would've sold really well. There are flashes of a great game buried under all the live service BS.

I actually love the story mode, I’m playing it for the 3rd time before Spideman is released. But the live service is wack… if they wanted multiplayer they could have made a separated online mode, but not fusing everything together.

I remember this game being poorly received but the story being praised so I went in expecting to not like gameplay but prepared to slog through it for the supposed great story and I thought the exact same, bland, boring, generic and predictable. The story was AWFUL. Kamala Khan game disguised as an Avengers game. Nearly all of the main cast are extremely unlikeable, and the ones that are okay are barely even in the story. (Cap and Thor.)

Every time I look at this game, I always think of at least four or five things I would change to make this game better. For starters, not making it a Live Service game. The others would be having more then 3 villains to fight in the base game (Insomniac's Spider-Man had a variety of Spidey's rogues gallery to fight, and yet Avengers only has three?), have the ability to pick which Avengers to take with you on missions (similar to Mass Effect.), no loot system (As Skillup pointed out in his review, The Avengers already have roles, making the loot system unnecessary.), more Avengers at launch (In addition, Don't make Spider-Man console exclusive.), and have secrets and areas that certain avengers can access to encourage replayability (Though if a certain Avenger is required for the mission, it will lock that avenger in.). You can keep coop, but when playing solo, you can switch between the four avengers you picked similar to the FF7 Remake. There's a lot more I could've said, but those were the big ones I've thought of.
Out of your suggestions one is actually in the game. You can control which avengers go with you. But if it’s a mission that requires one or two certain heroes, like the hawkeye dlc, then two of the characters you want with you that’s not the locked in characters for that mission will be cast aside

They own the movie rights, which is why they distribute the MCU Spider-Man movies and are still able to make Spider-Verse and the Venom movies, but not the game rights. Those need to be worked out on a game-to-game basis, since Spidey still appeared in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and that was only on Switch.
@@CyberkillGames right the greedy team that's running the show took a big payout upfront from Sony to make spidey exclusive. They tried the same with ultimate alliance and Nintendo just offered more to make the game completely exclusive

Me too, I want to see a proper Avengers game made with the right company and with the right people. Obviously, keep Marvel Games making the game, but have another company like Insomniac for example to make the game. They need to make it that has the right approach, the right pitch, the right story, the right characters (obviously the main avengers themselves including having Hawkeye included and as a main character this time around) and with the right things to come with it.

I think the terms that you were searching for throughout the video were “vertical progression” and “horizontal progression”. The first one generally means player actions translating into numbers (your weapon now does 24 damage instead of 22) and the latter means an entirely different type of gameplay (you can now grapple enemies to pull them into melee range). As a developer, it’s important to strike a balance between the two but Avengers appears to skew too heavily into vertical progression. Very insightful video though, loved the fast-paced editing.
This is one of my comfort videos to rewatch every now and again because the humor and editing in this video is top notch.
My first time playing this, I got as far as the abomination fight, at which point my game decided I wasn't allowed to beat him. And I stayed stuck in the fight until I booted it up today and deleted all my save content. Gunna take a gamble and see if I can get through the story without losing my head or sanity
It also, didn't utilize the Avenger rogues gallery in the game. How about hydra , masters of evil, he'll an introduction of the INHUMANs. They could have had a throw back to the classic arcade game had a mission where The Wizard, Living Laser, Claw, and Whirlwind were up to something. When you take on properties like the A enters , Fantastic4, X-Men etc..... You have to be aware of their rich history. Not to mention the present times we are in. You have the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC devices at your disposal, and you give us a game as if the technology was back in the early 2000's. This game would've been top tier 21 years ago. Gamers know the power and technology at their disposal. If you truly "loved" these characters you would not short change their stories, gameplay, cosmetic look, and feel of the product presented to us. Be the fan that made you take on the project in the first place. Hope future games get better or are given to a group that are committed and true fans of the characters. I just imagine if I was given the power to bring one of Marvel comics many great characters to a videogame. That's like every fanboys dream. That's the disappointment we have in the product that was given to us. He'll I would even pay the micro transactions prices if the product was undeniably great. I still wouldn't want to, but would do it. Sorry for the rant, just my take from a passionate fan.

After playing the Guardians game, I really wish every superhero team game used the same concept. I noticed that Avengers had a strong bias towards Iron Man and Captain America, mainly Iron Man. One thing that Guardians did well in is that while you can only play as Star-Lord, they managed to make every character feel developed through unique interactions and banter throughout the game while still keeping Peter Quill as the central protagonist. The biggest draw of a superhero team game should be the different interactions that the members have. After all, that's why the first Avengers movie had so much success; it had a charismatic cast with amazing chemistry bantering with each other and pulling off combo attacks. The first mission on the Golden Gate Bridge felt great, the team split off to fight in sequences suited to their specific abilities, after that it falls off pretty hard. I really think the game would've been much better if you play as Tony Stark for the entire game while getting the chance to direct your AI teammates to do certain tasks and attack enemies. That way you can still put combo attack details into each character and be able to focus on the team banter aspect by having the player control one character. That's how I would've fixed it at least.

The editing and writing of this video are amazing. But I have one critique, you touched upon the black panther expansion. It’s actually pretty good. The focus is heavy on BP and Wakanda, as well as adding some great cutscenes. The Hawkeye expansions were both fine, albeit too short for the amount of time I took to come out. They are free tho. But you talk about the post credits scene as if it hinted at a sequel when that’s not even close, it just sets up the post-campaign content with Monica as the villain. There is more to the game than the campaign and while the game is terrible, it didn’t feel like they were setting up for a cash grab sequel anytime soon, especially with the expansions they made with more on the way. I do admire the devs for pushing on even with all the hate sent their way as well as a low player base. They do seem determined to make this game better, even if they’re incredibly slow at doing so.

The main game was okay along with Kate, Clint, and Initiative mission to fight Monica, but War For Wakanda Expansion was epic. I'm still waiting for Spider-Man DLC. Now I'm your new subscriber for you. P.S. They should stop telling people to buy it with real money too.
I actually liked the game, story was cool, graphics are nice, the problem is gameplay. No, not the combat. The gameplay, there is barely anything different. This is the main flaw. And online part of course. They should also ad more Avengers enemies like Ultron, Kang, even Thanos, when the time comes. But it seems like it is going like SW Battlefront 2 - total garbage on the start, then a very loved by fans SW multiplayer game. I played a lot of it even when DLCs didn't came out. I gave it like 7\10.
Also, I didn't hear any 100% solid confirmation, but I think this game and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy that just came out are in Marvel Gaming Universe (Marvel's Spider-Man 1 & 2, Miles Morales, Wolverine that is going to come out after SM 2). The timeline makes sence pretty much, not to mention there was a clear reference to Avengers game in Marvel's Spider-Man.

Ironically, this Black Widow has more abilities and placement than the movie version. As much as I love her, she doesn't fit in with a literal super soldier, a god, a master inventor who has a robotic suit, and a mutant who turns into a doped up bane, I think game BW has abilities that puts her on equal footing in terms of physical strength with the other avengers.
That sequel baiting mid credits scene of the main campaign actually gets resolved in the story expansions.

See, thing is, I honestly loved most of the game. When I played, I didn't run into alot of glitches and stuff. Like, several times a character would glitch into the floor or here's the creepiest one I had and not even kidding, it was when Kamala was in the car with Tarleton and it looks at Kamala and it shows nothing but her hair and a skull lol. And that's about it for glitches I had. And yea, the micro transactions were just annoying as hell. I loved the story in the game. I thought it was fantastic. And the character designs I thought were awesome. And I liked how the game looked towards the start of the game. Cuz it felt different then once you get the quinnjet running and stuff, then it's like, ok, let's hop on this and go do a mission. And that to me felt just repetitive.
1st off this editing is amazing! But yeah I wish this game focused more on its single player experience and overall took more notes from Insomniac’s Spider-Man. I strongly agree that Linear Designed Levels tailored to each Avengers would’ve been more exciting than what we got. Like imagine stealth missions for Widow or Cap! Or even levels for Hulk where you actually feel destructive and tanky! Like it would’ve been so cool to interact w/ the environments on the levels of Jesse in Control. And of course one of the other big gripes for me, gameplay aside, is that the fan service cosmetics should’ve been offered for free! In fact they should’ve been included IN THE BASE GAME. I mean even Spider-Man PS4 continued to pump out free skins like wtf- they didn’t have to give us the Fantastic Four suits, they didn’t even have to give us the Far From Home suits, and they definitely didn’t have to spoil us the Andrew Garfield suit. But they did. Because that’s how you do it. Yes! Of course I’m happy that they’re finally releasing MCU skins, but it just doesn’t sit right with me that for one, MOST of them don’t even look all that impressive. And two, it costs like $20-ish. And I’m sorry, I know this game is a live service game and needs to make money to stay afloat, but here’s the thing. It NEVER should’ve been a live service game. And these cosmetics once again, should’ve been included in the BASE GAME. I- I need to wrap this up. The more I think about this game, the more frustrated I get as it easily could’ve been something more fun, compelling, and epic… but it just wasn’t.

I didn't have any issues performance wise, nor did I encounter any bugs. The only downside was the missions were too repititive with the dlc taking longer than they should to come out. But my favourite to play as was Black Widow. Edit: In case you're wondering I played on PS4 Pro

Unbelievably great video. This game is easily one of the biggest letdowns in recent gaming history. To take the most popular thing in the world , and come up with this game.......criminal. Still, you may have been too kind to this game.

I figured I'd give the game a shot after the Wakanda update. A month after playing, I'm wondering, "how did people keep the game for months?" With the cosmetics offered, I see no reason to ever put money in this game. MAYBE the MCU skins, but I've played Spider-Man and never paid an extra dime for them, so f-ck that. The story itself is mediocre. Gameplay is potentially good but playing the same handful or missions forever? No way I would have kept this for a year. If not for Spider-Man coming, I'd probably be deleting this from my console by the end of the month.
Say what you want but the excuse of ‘we don’t have to pay for spider man suits’ is weak because you could also use the excuse that avengers is better than spider man because you don’t have to pay for dlc
The beta dissuaded me from purchasing Avengers. I rented it from my local library, and played through the story. It was a total slog, and really the only saving grace of this game is some of the combat mechanics. Doesn't save the game though. Terrible story, weak characters, tacked on loot system, really no enemy variety, and barely any "endgame" content. This game should be free to play with its e-shop BS.
