Not only do they need to add more weight classes, the UFC's gotta add hydration tests to make sure their fighters don't kill themselves while trying to make the cut.
They dont need more weight classes, Fighters need to fight at their natural weight instead of cutting lower to fight weaker competition. Take Khabib for example, He walks around at about 190-200 but cuts to 155 in order to fight weaker competition to help his record. Not a Khabib hater, its just the truth.
@Al-Hadi Im saying everyone should fight at their natural weight or atleast in the weight class closest to their natural weight. Thats how you would stop these fighters from destroying their bodies with weight cuts.
Bruh they already have a million weight classes, adding any more would ruin the ufc

Lesnar never tested positive for "steroids." Seems like a small difference, I know, but he tested positive for a legal substance that was being used in an off-label manner. At his (and my) age, anything to help stimulate testosterone production in the body is welcomed. I think it's on the UFC for hiring someone from a non-competitive business that basically requires non-USADA practices. If that makes any sense. And yes, for full disclosure, I'm a big Lesnar fan since 2002.

It would be nice to have an identical twin who no one knows about and who's 30 pounds lighter than you.
Fun fact; you don't have to cut weight drastically if you're not afraid to fight at your natural weight.
its not a case of being afraid is it, a natural 155 guy cant beef back up to 170 in a day or two, so it makes zero sense to fight at your natural weight unless they change the rules to something like anthony said
@@emilbjerg4651 your principle is correct, but your statement has a few contradictions. There is no one that can "beef up" from 155 to 170 in a day or two. So he was no natural 155 lb. He was a natural 170 that dehydrated to 155 and used I.V. fluids to rehydrate in a day or two to his natural weight. That's why it shouldn't be allowed. So,the principle is the same. There shouldn't be regulations that allow someone to get a 15+ lb advantage before a fight.
@@youtubeuser3316 that's what I am saying. I think there should be a cutting weight cap based on weight division. A 10 lb cap in the lower division means they would be up two or three divisions on fight day. In cruiserweight, it would not be so drastic.

I don't think it has anything to do with being scared ... I mean these guys fight in a cage for a living I doubt they r scared lol ... The thing is if one guy doesn't cut weight and his opponent does cut the right way his opponent has a clear advantage being 15-20 pounds heavier so then the fighter who didn't cut is gonna say fuck this I'm gonna cut also.. it's a sport it's all about getting a competitive advantage... Weight cutting imo is fine as long as they do it the right way... If u do it the right way it's a good advantage to have on ur side if u do it the wrong way it can end up bitting u in the ass .... Most the time when guys have a hard time cutting weight it's due to an injury or them just not being discipline with their nutrition

El cucuy made weight twice in TWO WEEKS
@William Robert Chimaev didn't have to cut an extra 15 pounds his first fight and beat one of the worst middleweights in the UFC and a short notice newcomer.
@William Robert Lol John "1-4 in the UFC" Phillips is a monster? Obviously he is a good fighter compared to to 99% of the world, but relative to the highest level of MMA he is not. "Lol all UFC fighters were newcomers at some point." WOW what a stunning revelation. Most UFC fighters also need a few years and fights to grow and develop. McKee was making his promotional debut at 24 years old. A 15 pound cut, or 7.5%, is not a lot of weight by UFC standards. Then, consider that he had been in camp for a Brave CF title fight at 175, and the cut could've been even less.
@William Robert I was really hoping I didn't need to explicitly state that level of competition factors greatly into judging record. Your Askren and McGregor comparisons are just pure foolishness. Yes, John Phillips is severely lacking in the whole aspect that is half of MMA. Thanks for explaining his ineffectiveness for me. McKee didn't have any hype behind him what in the world are you talking about. People only know who he is because he fought Khamzat. No shit Khamzat is a newcomer. I've never denied his talent. That changes nothing I've said. Lol you said he cut "a lot" of weight twice. I'm not denying the impressiveness of a 10 day turnaround, but him cutting to 185 while he considers 170 to be his natural weight class is not a talking point.
@William Robert I would love to see a source on Dana's take on McKee, because you definitely just pulled that out of your ass. Dude you're comparing Conor McGregor and Ben Askren to John Phillips, you are absolutely insane. Conor lost to one of the best lightweights in MMA history, and Askren lost to a surging Masvidal and one of the best grapplers in MMA history in Maia. And I reiterate, Askren was past his prime and needed hip surgery by the time he signed with the UFC. Look at who Phillips has lost to. Not to mention, he's 35 and has been fighting since 2005. This shouldn't even be a discussion; you can name as many obscure fighters as you want, doesn't change how stupid this take is. I literally said most newcomers need a few fights to develop. McKee is clearly one of those, and Khamzat obviously falls out of that category. You actually said "It doesn't need to be a deadly weight cut for you to consider it not too big," which would be the opposite of what you wanted to say. No it doesn't have to be a deadly weight cut but that would be above average for UFC fighters. I would consider the average weight cut to be "a lot." 7.5% (or even less, as he was training for a 175 lb fight) is below average.
William Robert 1 - this is a ludicrous claim, it should not be hard at all to find the source if it exists. The closest thing I can find is Dana saying the hottest prospect out of the UK is Jack Shore 2 - Lmao you said Conor was good despite an unfavorable 1-1 UFC lightweight, now you've flipped and are talking about his other losses? 3 - I don’t know why you’re laughing about Masvidal when you’re literally arguing that Askren is a good fighter despite what his UFC record indicates. 4- Please let me know what I’ve lied about or ignored. 5 - Right, so you’re admitting that Khamzat didn’t cut a lot because it wasn’t deadly.
Body starts literally trembling begging you for food and nutrients but ig it’s acceptable to do weight cuts😂
it's mostly begging for water, your muscles can't relax without enough water so you're stuck trembling

The Kenny Florian one is one that aways comes to mind, he looked so ill
seeing DC so dehydrated breaks my heart :/
This I do not understand this, or are they al fighting a weightclass lower to get "easier" opponent?
Before their weigh ins they try to cut out all water weight possible, so that they can beef up and be about 5-10 pounds heavier for the fight. Just trying to get an advantage over their opponent
They fight at the lowest weight their body can physically go or else the other fighter will have a 20+ lb advantage the next day when they are actually fighting
It's just like Kevin Lee to look at the scale as if it's to blame.
I think a fix for this could be to do multiple weigh-in throughout the weeks prior to the contest. once every 3 days or something for 2 weeks before the event. If you miss more than 2 of them or 2 consecutive, then you face a penalty. That would make fighters have to fight at the weight they live at.
Unpopular opinion: for a sport that demands such a high standard of health, you'd think they would ban weight cutting, due to the dangers to their health. These fighters look gaunt and they just put the weight back on before the fight anyways. Makes weight cutting an unnecessary danger. Idk if im wrong in my opinion, give me a better argument for why weight cutting is a good idea.
Nah thats a popular opinion
Just stop it you’re making too much sense. Unfortunately fighters I think if given the option to have a size advantage over a naturally smaller guy would always take it even with a cut.

You mean back than when he was in kindergarten? 😅
😂😂😂 I just found this funny bantamweight oh my days 🥳😂
Both MMA and Boxing really need to create rules to stop the massive dehydration process. And it has to be the organizations and athletic commissions because we know fighters will never stop trying to get any possible advantage even if that means put their bodies at risk, except of course, if the rules will put them in a disfavored position going into the fight, like for example limiting the rehydration weight to no more than 5 or 6 lbs, that way fighters will not cut like 15 lbs the day before knowing they can only gain 6 of those 15 lbs before stepping into the ring since that would put them in a disfavored position and that is the last thing they want. Fighters cut massive weight cause they know they can get all that water weight back before the fight. Of course divisions weights should be tweak a lil bit but nothing impossible.
Disturbing is certainly the right word for a lot of these.
They need more weight classes
06:22 Ladd was suspended cus she gained 18% of her weight in fight ? Wtf rule is this and why I never heard of this

Simple solution if you gain more than 5lbs in 2 out of 4 of your last fights make them move up at class. I don't even know what's the reasoning behind doing it days before, or what's the reasoning behind doing it when you've been years and years witnessing how the rule is exploited by fighters, artificially losing weight to fight above or WAY above the legal weight. It's been stated several times and also a hot topic that the methods of weightloss before weigh-ins are extremely hazardous and unhealthy. Why they haven't simply been banned is the question.
Still learning here, So wait if they don't make weight and they are a few pounds over they still get to fight their opponent with heavier weight? They should have to take the loss if they don't make the class weight..
Usually the fighter who doesn't make weight forfeits a certain percentage of there money for the fight to the other fighter and if it's a fight for a belt if a challenger doesn't make weight they won't get the belt if they win .
