I can't even begin to imagine what Brooks had going through his head. Good news is there was no fire. It'll be a pricey fix, but at least we know what has been affected. I'm sure you guys will be back once the P1 has been nursed back to health. And I agree with you guys. Brooks has to come back to finish what he started.

LaFerrari may be slightly slower but from a naturally aspirated engine. It does very well. Also looks better and doesn’t break at least.
That sucks big time, P1's definitely one of my favorite cars you guys have. It'll get fixed and back drag racing before you know it (next season). You can tell Brook feels so bad but as Jordan said it would of happened no matter who was driving.
This is the ultimate showdown right here! I love that you guys drive these cars instead of just storing them forever.
When the car breaks down, you are not the one who spends the money to fix the car. That's their car. They can do whatever they like. Whether to drive the car or store it.

Brooks has more seat time in McLarens at the drag strip than anyone else on this planet. I'm sure he didn't do anything that he hasn't done hundreds of times before in other McLarens. Stuff happens. Anyone who spends their time and money building cars to drag race knows this. It isn't a question of 'if', but 'when'. Fix it and send it again.
Credit to the Triple F guys. These things wouldn’t happen if these cars weren’t being pushed hard (like the repeated launching of the Chiron). It’s exactly the fact that you guys drive these cars this hard regardless of their value that makes you guys so much fun to watch. I feel for Brooks, like you said, it would have happened with anyone in the car but of course he felt awful. Glad you guys took it so well, shows it’s not all just an act. 🙌🏻
McLaren just needs to learn how to build a quality car. This shit would NEVER happen in a Porsche, Ferrari or Koneggsig
@@BAND-MAID-USA Aah that explains why they were disapproved of running the Regera 🤣 I kinda agree with the McLaren bit tho. Ferraris don't like repeatedly launches either. Your dash will light up like a Christmas tree n the thing will go into limp mode. Porsches somehow are able to take a lot of torture tho. There's a clip of a Turbos S doing 26+ hard launches back to back with no issues whatsoever.
@@rahulsudhir666 Porsche has no problem telling you to drive the car as hard as you can for 10 years and you’ll never have an issue.. I’ve never had an issue in any Ferrari or Porsche, ever. Lamborghini and McLaren, nothing but problems. Garbage cars if you actually like to drive your car.
@@BAND-MAID-USA I beg to differ on Lamborghini. They've been doin phenomenally well with Huracan and Aventador platforms. The first gen Aventadors were a bit lethargic but the S, SV and SVJ are pretty damn good if you set aside the single clutch transmission. The F12 too had a similar issue wherein the car will refuse to engage launch control after a few hard pulls

Just want to say thank you to the boys for even doing these races in the first place, because 95% of the owners wouldn’t even launch the cars so they don’t brake. Epic epic content boys I wish I lived in your area to see the cars in person. And brooks is a good person you can tell because he really felt awful at the situation but it was inevitable that this would happen no matter who was behind the wheel

It has! Against the SF90 Stradale it achieved at 10.5 secs at 143mph, but here it finished a lot closer to the P1, and the P1 did 10.3 secs. I assume the LaFerrari did a 10.4 sec run. Wish they released the data for that as well, was clearly the best run for the LaFerrari. Would’ve loved to have seen the trap and the 60-130mph again.

@@projectr2451 LAFERRARI will do 60-130 mph in 5.3 seconds Most likely 5.2 60-130 mph on prepped surface LaFerrari low end is pretty impressive but mid range lacks it's slow on top end as well Maybe it has more top speed than P1 or 918 LaFerrari is significantly slower between 100-150 mph That's why 918 and P1 beats it

From hearing from some supercar owners (definitely not at this level though), letting others drive your cars is all in good fun until something goes wrong. And something will go wrong eventually. The conversation can get awkward really quickly, especially if there is meaningful damage involved and it wasn't 100% unavoidable. Insurance makes things even more complicated. I can imagine Brooks not having an easy time hearing that he broke the P1 (even if Jordan/Jay are not the types to send Brooks the repair bill). At the very least, he might be worried about others not taking the chance to lend their cars to him in the future. Everyone here surely thinks Brooks is a nice guy and this incident was not his fault, but most owners would probably prefer not having their cars break with someone else at the wheel. I can relate to that just speaking for myself and my own modest car.
When I saw the community post a few days ago I knew straightaway it would be the P1 that broke 🤣
Not just Mclaren , any car can breakdown on unprep surface like that , this track is only good for roll racing , also i believe the clutch wasn’t happy with that Burnout , every car has a different way to launch it and race it

Expected result! LaFerrari launch better but P1 win! Motor Trend said the P1 is faster after 100mph (161km/h). But that 60-130mph time was amazing!

If the cars have launch control and the gearbox and the engine are actually properly calculated and designed, then it should be absolutely no problem to launch these cars as often as you want. If they make problems or break down, then the manufacturer should have developed a better gearbox/ engine. These cars are for driving and not to rot in some garage.

You can see the rear diff go when the left rear wheel had a little wobble going in to second gear before the transition.

Glad to see this race with competent drivers unlike 98% of the other P1 vs Laf race videos. To pass the Laferrari like that you gotta be pulling HARD, P1 is a monster. Bummed out to see it break down, hopefully the entire transmission won’t need to be replaced
Even in high downforce race mode, at Portimao the P1 was still 4-5 mph faster on the straight than the other 2 when Chris Harris pushed it. It's a monster after 60 mph.
