  • Not to get too personal, but white vinegar is perfect for cleaning groin, neck, face, under arms, behind ears etc. in lieu of a shower. Yes, vinegar has a strong smell, but it evaporates, and the smell goes away. It also will not stain clothes and is an all-purpose cleaner. I love using it.

    • Don't have an RV but have 3 cats. Have you heard of the uah pet deodorizer?...you charge it and it works for 9 days on the charge and then you recharge it again. It stays on and goes off as the cat approaches the litter area and then turns off when the cat leaves. It releases deodorizing and dust reducing negative ions to keep any odors and dust from your litter down....just wonder if that might be a solution for you? Enjoy your videos and love watching the 2 of you travel. I could never live in such a small space so find your situation interesting. Safe travels!!

  • We are stationary. We are saving to buy a house. We've learned...the hard way, is to NOT discard toilet paper in to toilet. We use plastic grocery sacks and place in a diaper genie; which we empty regularly. No odor. We were tired of clogged toilets. After 2 years of frozen pipes and cleaning the mess of raw sewage, we quit putting paper in the toilet. If Temps drop to near freezing or below, we run faucets. Luckily, we haven't had those issues anymore. To save on propane during the winter months, we bought an electric fire place. Keeps the whole place nice and cozy. We also lined our walls with Styrofoam insulation in the bedroom, where it was much colder than the living area. We bought a dehumidifier to help with excess moisture. As for storage, we built an 8×10 shed that we keep things handy. Off season clothing, art&craft supplies, cooking items we don't need every day, and extra toilet paper and paper towels. We also hung a shower rod in the bedroom to hang clothes. So that he can have more clothing selection. We invested in a portable washer and spin dryer and it's been amazing! We have clean fresh clothes to wear. It's more than paid for itself with the money we saved by not having to go to a laundromat. I'm disabled so I don't work or really work up a sweat. I don't shower daily either. Maybe even 2-3 days. I use baby wipes when using the restroom as well as to freshen up. It's been a hard adjustment for me, but I remember my great grandparents only bathed once a week. We are planning on remodeling the camper so it's more suitable for permanent dwelling. Thank you for exposing the "dirty" side of rv life! Lol

  • This worked for my nephew's foot odor, suggested by a nurse when he was a teenager -- Get some mouthwash that has alcohol in it and after a shower or sweaty activity wipe down your feet with it including between your toes. Yes they will smell mouthwashy for about 3 minutes but then the smell goes away and the alcohol dries up all the odor producing stuff.

    • Same here! Since the shower doesn’t work I don’t bother running the hot water heater so this is also what I used to wash dishes. I got a big Pyrex bowl, and I heat water in that and then wash my dishes in it. Then after they’re washed heat another bowl full and pour over them to rinse and I’m done. If I’m camping where there’s no electric hook up I just eat on paper plates with disposable cutlery. 😂

You find them next to the mouse traps, and sometimes the package advertises them as mouse boards. They run about $1 each in packs of 4 or 12. • Love this video! We're in a Honda Pilot Microcamper, so our list of things we don't like to admit is a bit different. For example, we don't have a shower, so we have to bathe outside the vehicle. We have a privacy tent, but sometimes we're too lazy to put it up. So instead, we just wait until it gets dark, hope no one shines a light on us, and we bathe off the back of our vehicle.

  • Hibiclens is the answer to all your bathing needs. It is a antiseptic/antimicrobial skin cleaner. Used by surgens and other medical personal. Apply it to your wet wipes and wash yourself. Leave it sit on the skin for a few minutes before wiping it off with clean wet wipes. It is great for cleaning the skin and removing body orders. I have never had a problem with it drying my skin if it is not wiped off completely from the skin. Safe for the most delicate areas and wounds you may have. This product has saved me from skin and wound infections as well as heat rashes that I used to get frequently. I have not had a rash in 5 years now.

  • I'm starting to realize that RV'ers likely have a lot of similar experiences to third world missionaries when i comes to experiences that *should* feel embarrassing, but quickly become normalized. Not only did me and my fellow missionary community wear the same clothing for 3 or more days, we'd flip them inside out after the third day to get that "fresh" feeling, LOL. Our test for when it was time to change clothing was when OTHER people started to smell us. Seems you get used to your own stink rather quickly so you gotta rely on the kindness of others to say, "bruh . . ." 🤣

  • I live in a stationary RV (paying off the land under it, then will get a house) and have cats. Best thing I ever did was to transition my cats to pine pellet litter before moving in. They're not thrilled about it, but they use it, and it is so much superior to regular cat litters. Better odor control, lighter weight, not half as nasty to clean up, no gritty litter scattered everywhere, and substantially cheaper. I use a Breeze litter box, but I ditched the useless catch-tray it came with in favor of a large wash/dish tub that the litter box fits into, with about a 3-4 inch gap between the underside of the litter box, and the bottom of the tub. Clean up the poop as it happens to get rid of that smell, and clean out the used sawdust in the tub once a week (biodegradable), and there's no detectable smell in the rig. For pellets, buy the pine pellet horse bedding sold at places like Tractor Supply -- 40# bag for about $8 now (it's 2x or more if you buy the pine "cat" pellets, and its the same stuff!).

    @KAT-no4iy@KAT-no4iy Жыл бұрын
    • Why can your cats not go outside? Ours do not like indoor toilets, and as soon as they are old enough to get out alone, the toilet only gets used when they are ill, or on new years evening when there are a lot of fireworks outside 😂. Of course, when you travel with cats, the situation is different, you won‘t let them out on their own.

It really doesnt take much, just a little after wiping down my feet. And fyi, it stinks coming out of the tube, but the funk of it dissipates. They are the ones that you can unzip to make the bag bigger. All the blue are my winter And all the whites are summer. All my PJs are in a black and gold bag. I have found that this has been the best arrangement to keeping things neat and organized. They are not expensive and they do a great job.

Once finished tie a knot in it and take it out. This way everyone is responsible for their own bm and not just one of us (typically me) has to deal with everyones stool and we're not living with a tank full of poo. So eliminating most odors. Another thing I found makes life easier is if there's a piece or two of clothing that I really want to wear but it's dirty, I'll put it in a clean garbage bag with a small amount of detergent & hot water, get the air out, tie a knot to seal it, place on the floor of my shower, then while sitting on the toilet use my feet to agitate the bag back and forth. Same for rinse cycle. Lastly for the smelly feet, wipe them down with papertowel and hand sanitizer. Also works for underarms, in a pinch. Hope this helps.

On ,occasion, I've forgotten to lock the cabinets, and taking a curve can open them and things go flying all over. One night I left my awning out and wind picked up over night and the RV was rocking violently. I ran outside in my PJ's and had to bring in the awning while folding the legs up. I chalk it all up to learning experiences.

  • We learned the hard way to always carry 2 sets of keys (each of us has a set) for both our pickup and travel trailer. One time we had a quick stop near home and had to get in the trailer. We got what we needed and headed down the road. When we stopped 3 hrs later, my hubby realized he must’ve left the trailer keys on the side rail of the truck the last time. The spare set was locked inside the trailer, so we had to find a locksmith on a Saturday in a small town - not an easy task. Another ~3 hrs later, we were back on the road. When we got to camp and unloaded the back of the truck, we found the keys! At least, they were with us!

  • Great video! Our worst visitor to the rv was an infestation of yellow sac spiders! The pest control person said we probably had a hatch. They seemed to be nocturnal and we killed over 100 spiders! I am telling the truth! We learned a 50/50 mix of vineagar and water wiped on floors, ceilings and walls worked the best to repel them. We became very good at smashing them too. We emptied every single item out of the rv, inside and out and after about 30 days, they were finally gone. And yes, they were venomous. They hitched a ride from a state park in Idaho. We were not the only ones to have these visitors.

Then get in the shower, turn shower on to temp wanted, & use the removable spray shower head and rinse your body. Takes 3 minutes to rinse ALL. Done. I get back out to dry off.

  • As an older person who had to draw water, you need to know how to repurpose water. Wipe down all dishes before washing in a big pot. Strain that water to remove any particulates into second pot. Reboil water let cool down some add a little vinegar this is good for washing feet or add some bleach to soak cleaning rags or whites in over night. If you can talk to you elders for other tips on hygiene as people didn’t use to bathe daily but found ways to keep from smelling. Johnson’s baby cornstarch is good for under arms and on private areas is good for that too.

After a using it daily for about a month and half to 2 months, I stopped needing deodorant at all. I did it daily for about 3 months the first time and only redo it as needed, which is maybe once a year. • This was hilarious but I imagine it’s the reality of life on the road. As far as stinky feet: wash feet every day, wear clean socks every day, and wear either sandals or all leather (outer and lining) shoes instead of sneakers. Rubbing alcohol kills the bacteria and removes the oils, but it can be drying, so don’t overuse it. And a talc free powder in your shoes, small amount, will help too. So great you have each other, there’s so much involved in this lifestyle, it really helps to be a team. Scary about that black widow spider inside the bear. Thank God you caught it before bringing it in.

A friend of mine, who was a trucker's wife & introduced me to my hubs, explained to me a trucker's bath, aka, babywipes. One of my biggest challenges was being in the truck during my monthly. I have a camp toilet that has the disposable bags that works well for me as my hubs schedule doesn't allow frequent stops for me to potty & he just uses a urinal. I recently discovered Lume, which i love & really does work for body odor when you can't get a shower! We raised our grandson & love camping & started with a pop up camper, graduated to a 20 ft pull behind with no slide outs, then to a 30 ft with 2 slideouts, & now we have our retirement home, a 40 ft motor home with 2 slideouts, which we'll be moving into once we sell our home. We have two small dogs, who refuse to use puppy pads in our camper on bad weather days, so at least we don't have poopy smells to deal with, which speaking of, we have a rule in our camper...NO pooping. I even bought a little sign on ebay i hung over the toilet, "thou shalt not poop in the camper" 🤣. We use the bath house toilets for that, & i also have my trusty ol' camp toilet!

I felt so cool to have an awning under which I could laze out of direct sun. I didn’t know rain/wind were coming and, while I was inside preparing my dinner they picked up that awning and blew it off of the van. It was destroyed and the van was damaged. Thankfully, I was in a location where I could easily dispose of the awning, but riding home with duct tape covering holes in the side of the van and, then explaining them, was a bit embarrassing, for sure!!!

  • Recluses are worse than black widows, honestly. I was bitten by a brown recluse when I was 15. The little F-er got into my bed and bit the back of my calf while I was sleeping. My entire leg turned black from the knee down. I had muscle damage, nerve damage, kidney damage, INTENSE pain, and a fever so high I was hallucinating. I was in the hospital, and at one point, they even talked about amputating my leg. The Dr.s were afraid to do anything to it, so I got really stoned with my friends one night and cut it out. They took me to a special surgeon, and my Mom gave the guy the chunk of my leg that I cut out in a ziplock bag. LOL. You should have seen his face. I'm 51, and I still have a horrible scar on the back of my leg. Basically, a chunk of flesh the size of a golf ball necrotized and died. It was awful. This happened in KY. Then when I was 32, I was checking the gas in my riding lawn mower to see if I needed to get any at the store when I went grocery shopping, and when I dropped the hood, I felt something hit my foot. I was wearing flip-flops. I looked down and saw the black widow that fell out and landed on me. In a couple of hours, my big toe was twice its normal size. My foot felt like it was on fire. I had a fever. My stomach was upset, and I felt like I was having a heart attack. My chest hurt, couldn't breathe. I started to feel better after about a day....day and a half. My toenail turned white and soft, so I peeled it off with a pair of tweezers and a razor blade. But I was fine within a few days, other than the nail, which grew back in without issue. This happened in TN, about 60 miles south of where I got bit in KY. The moral of the story...you're better off with the widow unless you get bitten on the face or neck. But at least there is an antivenom for widows. With brown recluses, you're just F-ed. I had no insurance when the widow bit me, and I knew that a bite on the toe wasn't going to be fatal, so I didn't go to the dr. It probably would have been no sweat if I had. Never. Never. Never. Mess with a brown recluse, though. Seriously. That was the worse thing that ever happened to me, and I haven't been able to coast my whole life. Months and months of pain. Nothing hurts worse than necrosis (and yes, I have a high tolerance for pain and a bad tendency to operate on myself.) Also....avoid KY and TN. I live in FL now and found a brown widow living in my kitchen a few days after I moved into my new house. I wasn't happy, but like I said, widows are better. At least in FL we don't have recluses. ROFL. Spiders like me. Apparently, I taste good.
