Something to cook on (near infinite options depending on where you are). A strainer/colander/cheesecloth and a bowl/plate of some kind would also be nice, but it's not mandatory. Haven't done any polls, but when you meet enough homeless people, full time campers, uber rich minimalists, people who share a studio apartment with 5 people, broke people, etc, you find some common objects most of them have had forever. This set will let you cook hot meals, soak cold ones, make a hot beverage, peel most produce, gut/scale fish and pluck birds, whip cream or scramble eggs, pick out small objects without using your fingers, drain boiling water, steam anything, fry anything small enough to fit in your pan, make basic candies and desserts, throw together a sauce, salad, or soup, you name it. It is 100% technique and while there are some things that do require special equipment, by and large you really just need semi functional hands, non toxic materials and ingredients of any kind, a source of potable water, and the knowledge of how to handle what you have to make food. Or anything else, for that matter. Trial and error will serve you here as long as you don't majorly fuck up and poison or malnourish yourself, so try to avoid that. Do you have a brand of deli containers that you like?
High heat spatula and wooden flat spatula and a bench scraper is on my list of things to get. My spatula always melts or gets bubbly around the edges and I have to peel it. It's annoying
Try GIR They’re reasonable & I really like it & you won’t need to peel Trader Joe’s selects one style at a time & sells it
Lmao once you get into spoons you'll start collecting 🤣
why tweezers and tongs? isn't only one of them essential?
Yo can absolutely sharpen those peelers. Just not worth the time cause they’re so cheap.
Was that your bro saying “and wash and reuse them”??
No chop sticks?
a weighing scale?
Am i the only person watch this video to learn English vocabulary cooking theme=))
Chop sticks instead of tweezers. Get way more use out of them
Those take out containers will leach plastic, regardless of any promises on them about being "bpa free." They are not meant to be reused, or used for long term things, such as pickling.
Rats I always suspected that but they are so handy to freeze stock and store soups. What do you use instead? Glass?
@Penelope Palm Yeah, you can get some full sets off glass containers off amazon that are microwave, dishwasher, freezer, and oven safe. Glass really is the absolute king for storage.
@@johnwest6083 thanks. I like glass but it takes up a lot of room to store when empty. I’ll hopefully move into a place with a bigger kitchen soon.
Live fast, die whenever.
