Bolzano, Italy Travel Guide - My Life In Italy

Bolzano, Italy is a city in the Italian Alps in the northern region formerly a part of Austria known as Alto Adige, or Südtirol in German, and the German name of the city is Bozen. It's a fun city for a quick visit and to experience this Germanic part of Italy. Bolzano is not only a great place to visit in the springtime but also the winter time. Bolzano / Bozen is famous for its Christmas market that they have every year (which I've also made videos about). But today, I'll be taking you with me through the city and giving you a little tour.

  • Grandissimo! I love Bolzano! Thanks for making this tour. Just a quick note, Bolzano does indeed keep the vast majority of its taxes, but 10% of most tax revenue actually goes to Rome (as per the 1972 statute), and a little more than that on the imposta sul valore aggiunto.

I'm currently brainstorming ideas for a trip to Italy late September with my mother, and part of the plan is to stay 3 nights in Bolzano with little side hops to Merano and maybe Val Gardena. You're giving great context for deciding how to structure the visit.

An old friend had given me the nickname Sabra from the video games dungeons and dragons, I was 16 at the time and my hair was reddish brown...now it's mostly grey with white... I'm 40. The gelato that is in the super markets here in the state, similar to the real thing? I tried it once from this place called Rita's and I wasn't impressed with it. But, after seeing yours I am thinking of trying it again but this time getting it from the market. One more question, have you heard of a last name Tarditi? It was my grandpa's last name until he changed it due to people either misspelling it or mispronouncing it Thank you! 🇮🇹🇮🇹😄

  • Hi, Rafael, thank you for the videos you make. I`ve been thinking about moving to Italy for a while, but I dread the hot weather. That`s why I`m considering moving somewhere north, probably near Bolzano or Trento, hoping that the heat in summer will be more bearable. Could you please tell me what the weather in summer in Alto Adige is? Could someone who doesn`t like heat live there? Is it significantly cooler than in the rest of the country or not? Thank you.

I think that the biggest and most populated town in Alto Adige/Südtirol with 100% Nordic climatic conditions is Brunico. • Very nice video, but I would like to explain a little better one point you mentioned. It's true that some people really would like to go back to Austria and not be part of Italy anymore (special the old generation), but thanks goodness they represent a very small part of the population. I know it was not easy in the beginning, but now we live all together, and the new generation almost don't care about this anymore. We were able to create a new culture mixing the best from Austria and Italy and now we all enjoy our land witch is consider to be one of the most reaches in all Europe for lifestyle, medicine-hospital, food, respect for the natural landscape ecc... we live all together in harmony and respect. I'm from this region and I live in Caldaro-Kaltern (perhaps you know my town) and thanks to my German mother and my Italian father, I was able to grow up with 2 mother languages. Sorry I just wanted to make them clear, because sometimes people think that we do not respect each other and I definitely don't want people to belive that. We are italian who speak two languages, but we are all proud to be Alto Atesini or Südtiroler 😉.

I have been in Bolzano a few times and this was the only place in Italy where I felt like a foreigner in fact I did prefer to speak in English rather than in Italian because almost all "bolzanini" prefer to speak in German. As a Regione Autonoma the Trentino Alto Adige have huge financial gains and a strong economy , as far as I am concerned, because of this alluring situation the Altoatesini prefer Italy rather than Austria.

I’ve only ever seen them from a distance from the train station in Bolzano but you can only see them off in the distance on a clear day. And with all the cables and everything it doesn’t make for the best photo imho. • I have viewed a few of Rafeal's videos and feel that they are geared for young people traveling on very limited funds. I would like to see more of the places he jabbers about and less of him. How about holding the camera away from you? Slow down in your talking and stop repeating yourself. I only got a few tidbits of information from each of the videos. I would really like to have seen more of the places these videos are about.
