I'm surprised there was no mention of the falcon 9's fairing reuse. While it's often overlooked because of the more impressive reuse of the first stage, SpaceX's attempts to catch the fairings and later splashdown and refurbish methods were impressive engineering challenges to solve and deserve a mention imo

Wrong. SpaceX had already reached LEO in 2019. "On 2019 May 24, the U.S. company SpaceX launched the first batch of 60 prototype Starlink Internet-distribution satellites into a 430 km circular Earth orbit." "LEO is generally considered to extend from around 80-100 km (below which satellites cannot remain in orbit; McDowell 2018) to about 2000 km (above which the intensity of the trapped radiation belts make it more difficult for satellites to operate; IADC 2007)."
17:17 Jeff & Branson didn’t go to low earth orbit they were on sub orbital flights.
This. Going to the altitude defined as space is 'only' half the job of getting to LEO, getting up to orbital speed (and not falling back down) is at about the same order of energy needed..
Jeff shouldn't even count as that. He just went straight up and then straight down. If that rocket had to fly any path normally used to get to orbit, it probably couldn't even break 50k altitude

Orbit requires a launch system with power an order of magnitude greater than blue origin and virgin galactic can currently produce.

It so amazing that in just 1 year from this video, SpaceX launched another 3 falcon heavy, a lot of Falcon 9 and a Starship! Oh, and probably on 8th September we'll see Starship Test Flight 2!
People are saying starship second test flight is on 31st August.

great video but I wanted to point out 14:48 the ship uses 3 raptor engines and 3 vacuum raptor engines making it 6 engines currently
And future plans include 6 vacuum and 3 sea level engines.

Falcon 1 actually almost reached orbit on its 3rd flight. During MECO, the engines had a slight burst forward that knocked the second stage out of its trajectory. It was something they couldn't detect with their instruments when testing the merlin engine so Musk was convinced he could make the 4th reach orbit since everything else worked as planned. And so, the rest is history

I think you could've added another fun fact about the stardust roadster playing space oddity by Bowie in loop till the battery died after 2 years, or the cartridge that said "made on earth by humans" lol

i believe the reduced cost comes from the fact that all propellent for the starship can now be made 100% in house instead of needing to be mined refined ad then transported to spacex.
16:01, yep they just launch it 7 days ago (20 April 2023) and it didn't disappoint. It blew away the launch pad and gave us the rapid disassemble
Seeing how large starship is and it's INSANE launch, I think starship will take A LOT of $ to develop a consistent successful round trip. The amount of thrust and the damage that 1st stage is capable of, presents its own difficulties aside from all the other hurdles.
I like the patting on the back in the intro hehe "dramatically improved". Great video dude, I've only seen the first spacex one but they all look really interesting.

stunning flight test of the starship recently happned, the roket exploded mid air, both super heavy and starship exploded, the rocket started spinning and than kaboom! amazing launch!
I get a bit worried with the chopstick tower catching idea. I mean, you really need to bullseye it 100% for it to work. Otherwise it will end up hitting the tower os passing by. Falcon 9 can miss the target by a few METERS and it is fine. And it does miss the center a bit usually.
For the first people on Mars, please recover the twin rovers (Spirit and Opportunity) It would be a good sight to see the twins next to each other.

We still remember the Big ****ing rocket
Me and my family went to Florida for vacation this July and one day we went out shark fishing and when we were going back to shore a space x rocket was being brought back to shore on one of the floating landing pads, seemed to be in rough shape though because the whole nose cone was missing
Usually all the black smoke you see on the rocket is from when it comes back into the earth atmosphere and the engines fire. Reason why there was no nose cone was because it was a regular falcon 9 block variant all there should have been was a black interstate at the top.

What about mini starship first, then enlarge or upgrade falcon 9? Or even falcon heavy with mini starship on top and or small fuel tanks to refuel not by pressure but by detaching and re-taching on mini starship? Many different options that will cost less and easier.

Well, now we've seen the entire starship rocket take off and explode, making it the most powerfull rocket in history to ever take off, reach max-Q and experience a RUD
Just yesterday, the entire Starship rocket took off, went into orbit, and opened the payload door. It was a dang shame that we lost it as it was coming back, but you have to love how it gave us a lovely landing scene with all that glowing plasma.

it only uses one pair at a time so it is technically correct that it is three
@@Seabee203 I read somewhere that Starship will ignite all 6 of it's engines for initial ascent after booster separation, but we don't know much about the flight profile so I might be wrong

Well the test launch of the Starship has come and gone, but as he stated, it's an evolutionary process. That said, it will be interesting to see how the rockets sent to Mars will refuel.
Fun fact:the dragon v2 crew can actually fit 7 people! But NASA decided to use only 4 of them to make room for other stuffs
Space X is soo quick at what they do that this video is very outdated just a year on. Super heavy has already been to orbit now, that future starlink service has already thousands of satellites in orbit with more than a million customers. 👏🔥🔥
