700HP SUPERCHARGED LS WideBody '74 Toyota Celica | JDM Meets American Muscle
Juan brought over his 1974 Toyota Celica that he decided to LS swap! Not only did he throw a V8 in this tiny little JDM car but he also added on a vortech supercharger... So sit back and enjoy the ride!

I’m grateful and honored to be part of the Autotopia experience. Most importantly I’m proud of our team and their hard work & efforts. Juan is truly one of a kind and his hand built Celica is out of this world!! What an inspiration. 👏 🔥
Your reactions on the ride along is hilarious brother!!
This is what car culture is about. Building something you like, your way, and for you. Love it
Totally agree
Almost every car that was built in the backyard or home garage is absolutely my favorite episodes. I mean it. The episodes with the super rich shop owners or just the wealthy gear head who had it built….. meh. Money buys ALL OF THAT. But for one dude to overbuild such an awesome car. His own way….. man. So inspiring
Agree, I mean those ruffian cars are cool. Because I feel they have the same vide. It just so happens the fella has a ton of money, so the choice of cars and level of finish is higher up the scale. But the super high end 1000hp trucks and muscle cars are a yawn to me compared to these builds. Sadly those same old muscle cars/trucks get double the views for Shawn compared to these.
I'm going to agree as well, I find way more inspiration from these backyard, home garage builds the have more passion and the owners hard work in them than a pile of money. Now I'm not saying nobody worked hard on the high dollar builds but it's not the same if you screw something up with an unlimited budget. Id rather see builds like this instead of $400,000 call and place your order cars. Just my 3 cents...
🤘🙌👍
Noticed the license plate immediately and chuckled, knowing what was lurking beneath the hood. I love everything about this build and the fact that his Mom had the same make, model, and year. The body style from this decade is etched in our memories and this backyard build is amazing! Juan, rock on, brother! Thanks for this one, Shawn.
Epsilons were the baller wheels of the 80's! That build is mental and awesome at the same time, built by a madman!
No matter what life throws at you always remember if those 4 rear luggs are holding up you can too
Those early Celica's, the car we all forgot we totally wish somebody would do this with 😎👍
"Build it once, build it right." DAMN STRAIGHT! This build is BAD ASS.
Autotopia LA bringing the fckin' noise!! Lovin' all the non-US domestic stuff you show off man. That Volvo Wags, the Audi R8, the VW bus, E30 BMW and now the RA Celica. Such a long list of sick cars. You're the man, man.
Its so refreshing to see a home built piece of weaponry, this is what car building is supposed to be about.
Always liked the look of these cars, but they weren't great performers (not much was in 1974), but dropping a V8 in one is not only genius, but a heck of a lot of work! Great job! Love it!😍
A perfectly built drifter!!!😊

I must say the sound mixing on all your videos are really good, especially when driving. We always hear the engine whatever shot it is in. Really appreciate the the effort.
Funny how the front end resembles my 70 Torino . @1:20 . Only more narrow . Maybe that's why I always liked them . Is one badass ride !
I remember working on one with the 4 cylinder 5 Spd, in 82, I was 20. those cars were a blast to drive stock. My brother in-law had a 1972 Nissan 240 Z, he has a cam, Webbers and headers, that straight 6 came alive. This is a very cool build. a go cart with license plates.
No, THANK YOU! Simply awesome. I felt like I’m riding along.
My Dad bought one of those SR - 5 Celicas in 74 .. Just got my license and my 66 GTO was always Broke .. Put 50 k on that little Toy in one year .. But Not Like That !! Love The Plate !!
What a cool little ripper. That'd be fun as hell to drive and way better built drivetrain than I was expecting.
what a freakin cool car , love it!! and kudos for the owner driving the hell out of it!
New School V-8 Vega!!! Sweet Ride!!
Thank you sharing man, awesome. I'm working on a 77 celica fastback at the moment, thank you 😊.
This car is as wild as you can get its awesome power its jdm look and style but the heart beat of an American V8 simply crazy love it.
This car should’ve been in the fast and the furious series for sure. Jumping out of a plane or something lol.
no one I mean no one would see this car coming. Just sick!
Cool to see another 74 Celica build on KZhead!
This thing is so well done!
Have you seen Sarah-n-Tuned’s V8 Celica? Not 700hp but all JDM, and just so immaculate. I really get the appeal of these little cars.
Those accelerations at the end, good lord…this guy knows what he is doing. That car can take a beating. 👌🏼
It’s built to drive hard and I love it!
i have no words about this build. love it! love it! love it!
RestoMod+, love the old retro stuff, it just looks better than modern. That drivetrain setup is super impressive and that man is a very skilled artisan and built something that I would expect would take many different brains to accomplish and yet he proves otherwise.
I'd have to say this is one of my favorite vids too Shawn. Love the out of the box type builds and this one looks to be well engineered too.
whats also cool is that this body-style Celica reminds me of a 68' Camaro. It also has a Fastback body-style and that reminds me of a Fastback Mustang. Both styles of this car looks good.
They definitely grabbed from American muscle if the day
.............G'day, I'm 82+ got my license 1958 (DROOL) at 16yo. Cheers and God bless, Malcolm
By far this is the coolest car that has been on your show to date! Beautiful work!
Super Duper cool build 😮
Excellent video Shaun love it the smile on cameraman’s face was just amazing the Mercedes behind celica can you please do a video on that thanks
Asad loved riding in this monster! Such a well built ripper
I have a Corolla SR-5 1974 and always love the idea of a V-8. Thanks for this video, now I know that is posible and this Celica is incredible.
That Asad dude is a trip 😆.
Ive wanted one of these cars for about the last 15 years. There was a guy in Jacksonville Fl that had one. It had a wide body done and lowered, but didnt have 700hp. This only makes me want one even more.
Wow! Love all the work this man put into this car! Wild ride!!!
So much power, what a unique build!!
I just love the home built cars. This one I would definitely want for myself. Thanks for sharing this beauty of a car Shaun
I love what he did with this
@@AutotopiaLA indeed
Wow! You keep bringing it.
Awesome build, this is my kind of ride
the attention to detail on an often overlooked but absolutely beautiful body style is incredible on this one, love it
Sick Ass ride!! It totally says SoCal!! Love the 74 Celica!!! 2300 pounds 700hp!! Wtf!! Bruh the Epsolons🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 those that know Japanese muscle from back in the day know😜
A thing of Beauty
Hey Sean, love the channel. I think this is as scared as I’ve seen you. At one point you even told him to back off. You were definitely uncomfortable 😆
Wicked little Toyota pocket rocket with backyard engineering sweet That will definitely get with it❤❤❤😁🤙🤙
Well. That was a wild ride!!!
Basically every toy we had as a kid always had a wide body stance and when it looks like this like a toy that thing is a beast.
We need Larry Chen to do a build breakdown front to rear and on a lift🔥
.....................SECONDED!
Really great car, a hot rod in the truest sense! Thanks for this one , these backyard builds are always so unique.
My absolute episode favorite by a mile,
I love it..I'm originally used to old school Toyota and Datsun cars..I definitely love his hardvwork and creativity.. it's best of both worlds looking at it for me..Good Review!!!!..🏁👍🏽
I had a 74 celica here in the U.K. It was more original with a built 1750cc 2t that made 130bhp It was cool
Yeah. He got a little fun one. Nice set up. Multi purpose.
JDM with American V8. I didn't expect that. Unbelievable build. Great episode. Greetings
I didn’t either when I first saw it at Quarantine Cruise
Brother with the camera makes me laugh. Cheers for adding his reaction!
My first car was a 72 Celica ST. Loved that car. The 2.0L motors were torquey little things. Side note: 71 was the first year for Celica's not 72. I actually had a chance to buy an original 71 when I was in college. Guy that owned it, his son worked for Toyota US. He told me that the 71s didnt have caster adjustments in the front end.
Badass Bro!!! Excellent job!!
Hey,Juan, you are simply Awesome .unbelievable
"My Toyota is fantastic"... Oh YES! 😍
Rollerskate!! Shifts it quick as an auto til 3rd...Love oddball cars/builds Those wheels and Enkeis were the thing in the 70s and 80s. Car is awesome! CAmeras usually dont give a good indication of acclerating. This...holy cow. Rode in teh backseat of one back in Jr High Dad bought it for his daughter. Things change indeed! Best part of this build being in Ca is its smog exempt!!
Wow, love this ride 💥
Wow. Just wow. Amazing.
Built a car veryyyy similar to this is Forza. So cool to see it come to life and watch it rip up the streets!!! That power to weight ratio is wild
"They make nothing for these cars" and "Why the hell build THIS car?" Lol I totally feel that with my build.
Lol
As I get older and see more and more swaps I have begun to gravitate towards the mindset of attempting to keep drivetrains in the same vein as the original…. That would be 10x cooler with a 1jz or even a Lexus V8. I’ve seen that exact same set up in I can’t even remember how many different cars literally thousands
Sweet ride. I approve of this message
It took a while, it was just at 12:26 that I started to believe it. The wait was worth it , intensity increased until the end of the video.
Most def….One of the best builds on this channel 😮😮😮🎉🎉
Backyard builds are truly one of a kind and my absolute favorites 👍🏼
thats the perfect match of car and owner personalties
Whooohooo! Shawn’s oh shit 😲gauge was in full effect!! Mean little celica 🤘🏼🤙🏼👍🏼 Mini mustang,w/a ls
Bruiser of a build! Had me going the whole time
Sick little car!
I dig it. Toyota heaven
Now that’s a cool ride! A friend had one as his first car way back in high school days (minus the LS obviously) and always regretted selling it.
That car is an absolute vision! Personally I adore the '75-77 cars, but it's not exactly an easy to find car to begin with. The last one I saw around here was a hatchback (the MiniStang model) with a 2J shoehorned under the hood and I was frothing at the mouth to catch up to the guy in traffic, and that was like six years ago sometime around when Goodguys was in town.
Cool car very nice. I grew up with that car. I had the 1980 model GT
That car looks like a “literal ton” of fun! 🤘
It's like a 68 Camaro had a baby with a Toyota.
THIS GUY KNOWS HIS SHIT AN HIS BUILD IS JUST OVER THE TOP PRESTIGE AND DONE UP SO RIGHT IT'S LIKE A ROCKET 🚀 LIGHT AS A FEATHER 🪶😮
I love the 100k nice proffesional builds, but these are the coolest for me
Başarılar diliyorum
Wow that is awesome.!! You always bring the best content.👍
Thanks. Killer little Celica
I love when that camera guy gets to go on a ride.
He loves it too!
My boi Juanito knocked this one out the park 🏁
Celica with the engine it always should have had, from the very beginning, and "gentlemen's agreement" (which came later) BE DAMNED!
I prefer American Muscle and American cars….but this is sweeeeeet
Exactly! I love me some Chevys, but I can appreciate the heartbeat that's under the hood!😃
Apart from the questionable wide body kit, I love it.
16:30 had to laugh too. FOrget holding that camera...but he tries too...and not go crosseyed lol E ticket ride love it
Definitely a sick build, love this kinda thing.
WOW! WOW! WOW! Spectacular car!
Wild!
Epsilon Southern Ways wheels. I haven't seen or heard that name since high school. In the early to mid 80's those were the wheels to have. Awesome build. Always nice to be different.
What an absolutely gorgeous car
I love unique, strange builds.
So do I especially when they’re built as well as this one
Can't beat the sound of a Vortech
Love it
A real little savage beauty. I love it and I want it !
the mirrors on the fender look like an old 240z Fairlady. I was trying to figure the Spanish meaning of " el es" LMAO
He’s Number 1
That is one badass build! Great fuckin’ car, Juan. I have an uncle that was a Delta mechanic for fourth years-you guys are ultimate OCD. 😂🤣😂👍👍👍
That’s a bad ass car .build
