Juan brought over his 1974 Toyota Celica that he decided to LS swap! Not only did he throw a V8 in this tiny little JDM car but he also added on a vortech supercharger... So sit back and enjoy the ride!

  • Almost every car that was built in the backyard or home garage is absolutely my favorite episodes. I mean it. The episodes with the super rich shop owners or just the wealthy gear head who had it built….. meh. Money buys ALL OF THAT. But for one dude to overbuild such an awesome car. His own way….. man. So inspiring

    • Agree, I mean those ruffian cars are cool. Because I feel they have the same vide. It just so happens the fella has a ton of money, so the choice of cars and level of finish is higher up the scale. But the super high end 1000hp trucks and muscle cars are a yawn to me compared to these builds. Sadly those same old muscle cars/trucks get double the views for Shawn compared to these.

    • I'm going to agree as well, I find way more inspiration from these backyard, home garage builds the have more passion and the owners hard work in them than a pile of money. Now I'm not saying nobody worked hard on the high dollar builds but it's not the same if you screw something up with an unlimited budget. Id rather see builds like this instead of $400,000 call and place your order cars. Just my 3 cents...

  • Noticed the license plate immediately and chuckled, knowing what was lurking beneath the hood. I love everything about this build and the fact that his Mom had the same make, model, and year. The body style from this decade is etched in our memories and this backyard build is amazing! Juan, rock on, brother! Thanks for this one, Shawn.

I actually had a chance to buy an original 71 when I was in college. Guy that owned it, his son worked for Toyota US. He told me that the 71s didnt have caster adjustments in the front end.

That would be 10x cooler with a 1jz or even a Lexus V8. I’ve seen that exact same set up in I can’t even remember how many different cars literally thousands

The last one I saw around here was a hatchback (the MiniStang model) with a 2J shoehorned under the hood and I was frothing at the mouth to catch up to the guy in traffic, and that was like six years ago sometime around when Goodguys was in town.
