the real thing I love about celeste is the mechanics introduced during the b sides aren't "unlocked", it teaches you about them, but youve actually been able to uses them the entire time, all It does is teach you about them
It's like those secret skills in super metroid where you find the rooms with the animals that teach you how to do them and then they just give you so much intentional cheese power
After finishing the game 100% I tried to simply finish the base game in one day and god it was surely easy when you know some of the mechanics that you learn at the end like the c side core mechanic, b side submit or farewell jump dive long jump mechanic

I've gotten 100% through the whole game, and I'd like to recommend to everyone here to not do the same as me. The golden strawberry on farewell actually broke me.
Actually I think getting 202 counts as 115%, I’m pretty sure the creators said that 100% is just all red berries and not all goldens and the moon berry. Also yes Farewell golden is hell and my PB with it is only determination lol
i have like 8k total deaths on celeste, which really puts into perspective how difficult it is. however, it is nowhere near the hardest game i ever played. my 170k geometry dash attempts should explain themselves.

i feel like the different picture in the ending cutscene when you get all the strawberries is an ok ending. You never needed to collect them, it's just a "You really are a one of a kind, Congratulations!" which is nice

Fun fact: the underlying theme a lot of folks miss about this game is about the author being transgender and going through the emotional struggles associated with being trans. Its really gives it a whole new - beautiful meaning to the themes and story.
Yeah I was upset he didn't mention that, as a trans woman myself this game was really important too me.

Most people that aren’t trans ignore that part, it seems like it’s usually because they don’t feel like they’re equipped to properly discuss it, they don’t want to lose viewership by mentioning topics people are divided on (even when there’s one side that’s morally correct), or the person in question is transphobic and tries to pretend like that’s not part of the game. Between all of those I’ve rarely ever seen that mentioned. And I think only one time was in a video

Honestly, I really do think that this game is a masterpiece. It may not be the longest game and sure as hell isn’t the easiest but it really resonated with me. Though farewell still hollowed me into a shell of my former self It still was really fun to play through

I love the tech that celeste introduces as well in the Bsides and Csides. Like wavedashing, wall bouncing, demo dashing, and wall climbing (without losing stamina lol)

i was actually in the same boat as you! i went thru the main story in 2019 and really enjoyed it, but in 2021 i replayed it and decided to go for all the extra content best decision ever! this is my favorite game of all time now. luv u

0:04 Battleblock Theater now that is a name I haven't heard for a very long time
Didn’t even mention the soundtrack which is just absolutely fantastic. The songs are catchy and each one perfectly fits the theme of the level. I believe in either the temple level or the reflections level, the music for the second half (after you go through a mirror) is the same as the first but reversed and you can’t even tell. There is also now a voice talking about how they don’t recognize who they see in the mirror. The small details are just amazing!

As someone who has suffered severe depression to a point that I had to be forced into mental hospital, this game describes this desease so freaking well, I cried during some dialog lines

I think a very interesting aspect of how the Main Character was written was how the Writer unintentionally wrote Madaline as a Trans character. It wasen't until fans pointed out all the connections and such of the Character that the writer themselves learned they were trans themselves. Later on when they added Level 9, the end picture has 2 very subtle Flags at Madeline's Computer. A gay and Trans flag. I believe they just wanted to keep it super subtle so that if you got the ending, you wouldn't give it a second thought. But those who actually look at the image got a really cool detail.

One of my favorite things about this game is the amount of crazy advance tech that you can do that the game doesn't even tell you. You have ultra dashing, double block boosts, block hypers, demo dashing, and much more. These are all brilliantly showcased in the 2020 collab, which has different difficulties. Some of those levels have exteremely hard tech, such as a level called ultra difficult. There are also D-sides which are way more difficult than the base game.
